This was not a dispute, just a product review.

Recently began renovation on older condo built in the 80's

Back then, bathroom fans were not very good, builder grade for most. Broan- NuTone made a very popular model used in thousands of homes.

Now they make a retro fit kit that cuts the noise by 50% and is easy to install. If you have one of these old fans, you should consider a retro fit kit...named "Broan quick-kit, sku#100125****

Cons:
  • Could be a little less expensive

NuTone 'pass the buck' customer service style - Buyer Beware!

(this part was a response to the person that took my call at customer service who transferred me to tech support) The person you transferred me to was completely incompetent. Not only did he say sorry about your luck, drywall over everything and/or you can call other companies but we will not service you nor will we send a technician out to discuss what can be done.

I am very disappointed in the 'pass the buck' mentality I have seen with this company thusfar. I will be posting the following review to help other people avoid the same frustration.

''My husband and I finally purchased our dream home. It is equipped with bath and ventilation fans, a range hood, a central vacuum system, door chimes, intercoms inside and out, and ceiling fans. However our system is from the 70's.

It also has a 45 LP and 8 Track system. We called the closest service center called ICE located in Winston Salem, NC. They could not help us and told us to call customer service directly to NuTone itself. I did this morning and I was passed off to technical support who was then trying to deflect all of my requests for help and assistance regarding servicing and upgrading our entire 6K sqft home with newer technology from NuTone.

The person on the phone then tried sending me back to ICE?!?! When I told him that is where I started he then suggested I call an alarm company to handle the intercom system in the home and I would have to call other companies to handle the other features. I was appalled.

It is apparent NuTone does not care about customer service, they do not care if they are not making money. I advise anyone looking for intercoms or such amenities NuTone 'supposedly' offers to not even waste your time with this company.''

Broan Nutone Does Not Have Customer Service Worthy of an Award

We have a Nutone Intercom system in our home. Recently we noticed the main unit was extremely warm and appeared to be transmitting to our backdoor chime even when "end call" was depressed.

We had to unscrew the cover to cool it down and reset the unit. This happened several time before we decided to call Nutone. Chuck in customer service first gave us the number of a closed business. We then spoke to Mike Walsh who told us to call the nearest repair center in Santa Barbara, CA.

That location told us they couldn't help and were unwilling to come out to repair the device because of the distance to travel. They told us we were on our own. When we spoke to Mike Walsh again, he essentially told us too bad and the best he could do was for us to have an unauthorized electrician pull 2 of the units out and send them to him for repair, even though there would be no way to recreate the system we have in another state with only 2 units (our system has a base, 2-ext and 10-int units). So much for customer service.

Chuck tried guessing over the phone what the problem was, but couldn't say for sure without coming to our house which no one from Nutone is willing to do. In the meantime we have an overheating system that transmits whatever is being said in the kitchen to the outside by our back door. The kicker is that we have to get the "award winning" customer service. Nutone is obviously willing to sell in Bakersfield, CA, but unwilling to give any service after it has been installed.

We will never purchase Nutone again, as their refusal to stand by their product and help a customer has left us with a higher electric bill since the system is using a large amount of electricity, fear of the main unit starting a fire and the neighbors hearing the sounds coming from the kitchen and breakfast area.

Nutone should not have gotten the award. They are not willing to help unless it is convenient for them and the fact that we are a loyal customer had no weight in their decision making.
