Kin Bright of Bright Futures- took full payment and refused to complete job
Kin Bright of Bright Futures in Port Orchard, Washington insisted on full payment prior to completion of the job, PLUS an additional $200 of gasoline "charges" that were never discussed nor part of the agreement. Kin "promised" that he would come back to finish the job and when I called to ask him to come back he said "I can't come unless you pay my gas for this trip" and "yes, I'll come do that work for you 'for free', just pay my gas." Well, I ALREADY paid for the WHOLE JOB ... AND extra gas.. What is incomplete or completed poorly? Tile that "cracks" and "pops" that was not adequately set, tile to be put down after I re-carpet an area, a garage loft that is filthy full of drywall and construction junk, a railing that was to be rebuilt for the loft, holes he made in the walls when tiling that were not repaired, the casing on a door he installed is falling off and the door doesn't close correctly, bolts to be placed on french doors that were installed (the french doors don't close correctly either), a really bad drywall job should be repaired (lots of seams/corners not mudded) I was *** enough to not get a written contract! Can you believe that! I know better. I found this guy off of Craigslist Seattle. He is new in his own business. He admitted that he was accustomed to working for others and having all supplies "just there". This caused the need for extra trips for supplies that he in turn passed to me WITHOUT ANY DISCUSSION. Kin went to Habitat for Humanity to "save me money", I thought as a favor, then turns around and charges me $200 for gas! It would have been cheaper if he (or I) would have just gotten the stuff from Lowes! Ugh! Besides all this, he was complaining about his wife frequently. I asked him not to talk with me about those things but he continued. He sat in his truck and smoked and engaged in arguments on the phone with his wife who, just before he left the job, said he was going to divorce. TMI!!! Lastly, Kin threatened me with "see you in court" if I didn't pay for the total amount of the job PLUS the extra unexpected (to me) $200 fee for gas. If I didn't pay that day he said he would walk off the job and "see me in court". I paid him. THEN he walked off leaving things incomplete and poorly done without MORE gas money! Moral of this story... GET A CONTRACT, DON'T pay for the entire job before the job is complete!!! Everyone knows that, right?! Too bad I didn't do what I already know. Don't hire Kin Bright of Bright Futures.
