Borders Books and Music refused refund or store credit

Currently reading the Lee Child 'Reacher' series, usually on vacation. Purchased 3 books on 4/5/2011 to take on vacation in May, where I leave the books. Found that I had duplicated one book and attempted to return 5/30/2011. The clerk refused any return and pointed out that the back of the receipt said 30 days. No one had ever pointed out the restriction to me before, so I will now shop elsewhere, hopefully where they are more understanding of someone's mistake. Anyone wanting a NEW copy of Gone Tomorrow will find it on EBay soon!

Borders Books has gone into chapter 11 bankruptcy. According to Wikipedia "Borders has missed the May 6th deadline to find a bidder; they could go out of business in the next few weeks." That explains why they don't care about your future business.

I'd be very surprised if they come out of this as a viable company in the future, as their debts exceed their assets.

With the internet, Amazon, and e-books, Borders has taken a beating. :sigh
