Bookit in Panama City Beach, Florida - RUN - scam artists w/cash flow issues & zero integrity

RUINED OUR VACATION We booked a vacation back in July for a 5 night stay at Riu Cancun with Bookit.com (Crookit.com?) for January 2016. 6 days prior to our scheduled arrival Bookit called me and informed me our 'hotel reservation was not longer authorized.' They are going bankrupt, and which is why the entire Riu chain (and thanks to google other hotel chains as well) are not honoring any reservations made by Bookit. I called Riu direct and asked what was going on. Riu said that they were booked, so now we do not have the suite/vacation that we had been banking on for-6-months! Thanks for ruining our vacation Bookit!

Bookit in Cancun, Quintana Roo - Stranded in the hotel lobby...

In Cancun first day of eleven day vacation and bookit.com didn't send our money to the Hotel. There were six couples in the same boat. We had to pay $4300.00 to keep our hotel room or find a different hotel. So we lost our initial payment of $2600.00 and another $4300.00. We called Arthur and Melody the owners and Melody laughed in our face and Arthur turned of his cell phone. What a couple of scam artists.

Bookit in Littleton, Colorado - Very Bad Experience

Purchased a family vacation to Cabo San Lucas using Bookit. We paid the initial downpayment following by 2 more payments that were charged automatically to my credit card. Prior to leaving for vacation, the complete package had been paid in full. Upon arrival, the hotel stated that the reservation had been canceled because bookit and not paid for ours and may other reservations. With the assistance of the hotel staff, we contacted Bookit and were disconnected several times. I asked to speak with the hotel manager and she personally called bookit and we were placed on hold for 30 minutes. When we finally got to talk to someone, she asked for my confirmation number and put me on hold for another 30 mins. By the way, this is while people are behind me in line waiting to check in. When she came back on, she said she had been trying to contact the hotel but could not. I told her I was standing with the hotel manager and that she could talk directly to her. She stuttered for a couple seconds and acted like she didn't want to talk to her. When I handed the phone to the manager, the lady from bookit hung up the phone. Based on other reviews I’ve read, hanging up on customers is fairly common with bookit. At least lately it has been. I’ve seen this before when companies have run into financial problems and are having cash flow issues (more money going out than coming in). Since it sounds like the non-payment issue has happened to a significant number of people recently, I assume bookit is going bankrupt. In order to have a room to stay in, I had to pay for the resort twice using all of the remaining credit on my card. The hotel also suggested that we not use bookit in the future and to make arrangements directly with the airlines and hotels. I hadn't realized how risky using a third party could be. If they decide to not pay the hotel, you are stuck paying for it again and their customer service is so slow that it can take days to get anything resolved. They eventually paid for the hotel but I doubt they will refund me for the day they ruined. Shame on them. The small amount of money you save isn’t worth giving up a day of your vacation.

Prior to coming, I checked Tripadvisor reviews. Most were good, although the big contributors are normally fake or paid-for; but it sounded like a place I would like. There was one recent review (now deleted), that mentioned the Catalonia Riviera Maya security holding her hostage (her ride to airport was there) because the front desk said Bookit had not paid them. She paid a second time with her credit card (having already paid Bookit), and she was still fighting with her credit card company upon her return. The night before (not day of, as for the reviewer that was held hostage) I was to come home, I got a note to come see Edgar at the front desk. Sure enough, he said they had tried all day to contact Bookit but they had not paid them. I immediately dialed Bookit (I have Verizon and called them about international plans. Instead of $30 for 500 minutes and 1GB, you can pay $2/daily and use your U.S. plan while down there. I have unlimited minutes), but couldn't get through. I 3-way called my brother-in-law and got through (fishy!!!). She said accounting was closed. I was so mad that Catalonia would pull this fraud on me. He kept saying the their reservation department had tried to call Bookit all day, and still no payment. I gave them my opinion for about 30 minutes, then went to my room steaming, and couldn't sleep I was SO mad. Anyways, next day, I called Bookit, and Tigana says accounting was going to take care of it, and to check with the hotel in 15 minutes. I went to eat breakfast. Hotel said not paid. I called Bookit back, and after 3 hours on the phone (getting the runaround: accounting manager doesn't come in for another 20 minutes, she on the phone with them right now. Each time trying to get me off the phone, but I was polite saying "Oh, I can wait." Finally, she says we sent the information over to the hotel. I said "oh, ok, let me see if they have payment". I asked the front desk, he said not paid. At 1107 am, they hung up on me. I told Erick at the front, I was going to take a shower. I called them back, but they kept not answering. Took a shower. At 1147 on my checkout day, Christian Oumi (assistant front desk manager) calls saying they got payment from Bookit. What does payment from Bookit have to do with me?? It's between Catalonia Riviera Maya and Bookit. I think both are in on the fraud and I intend to seek justice in every way possible.

Bookit in Hanover Parish - Scam - hassle to deal with

I was called hours before I was to get on my flight, informed that my reservation would need to be switched as the Riu was not honoring reservations (spoke with Riu and they indicated this was not the case). Apparently bookit.com knew about this "issue" for days but waited until the last minute to contact me. I indicated I was going to that specific resort for a wedding and could not be switched to another resort. After waiting hours for a returned phone call, I called them, waited on hold for 40+ minutes and the representative phoned Riu (as did I) and informed me I was good to travel and there would be no issues with my reservation. I arrived and they had called and cancelled it on me. I had to pay thousands of dollars unexpectedly out of pocket, and received no communication from Bookit.com regarding. I contacted them upon my return, waited another 40+ minutes on the phone and had to explain why I was calling for a refund. They disputed the amount, gave me three conflicting reasons as to why and then finally offered to "waive a fee" to send me a breakdown of what they were seeing on their end, as apparently it was different than what I had confirmed in writing. They were unprofessional to deal with, and did not care how much they disrupted my vacation. I have written to their executive for a resolution.

We has literally the exact same thing happen to us! We are headed to Riu Negril for my brothers wedding and they called us 3 days before we were scheduled to leave saying the same thing.

They were very unwilling to even help us in getting another reservation.

I smell a group lawsuit coming on as I am sure there are many others in the same boat. Absolutely apauling company.

Bookit Hotel Booking Review from Los Angeles, California

Horrible. Tub was dirty at arrival, sheets were stained, TV was broken and there was tape over the batteries on the remote control, my husband saw a roach in the bathroom. The pictures displayed on bookit.com website did not reflect actual room. I want to check out now! Bookit.com customer service prior to stay was shotty, I was double charged for the booking and had to call twice and speak to two different reps to get the problem resolved. The first rep was not knowledgeable, I was surprised she and the latter rep worked for the same company. I was attracted to bookit.com for their great deals, but after they add their fees, etc the discount dissappears. You might as well book from the hotel directly. I will never use bookit.com again.

Neverus bookit again

Bookit.com needs to update there information and get it right, I blame them for running my vacation. I booked this Extended Stay in Burbank Ca for mine and my wifes reunion through bookit.com and nowhere in their information does it say that pets are allowed, nor does it say anything about signing for anything. I have never in my life had to sign for towels dishes cups and any thing else that is normally in a room If I get charged for anything I will call my definitely take legal action. I had booked a studio king and had called the hotel to confirm also to make sure they understood my wife was handicap, but low and behold no king studio only a queen because they over booked. As far as the continental breakfast they show at 8am there is nothing there no bread no toaster no bagels 6 oranges no cereal no milk not anything that resembles a breakfast, My wife has dementia so needless to say with barking dogs all night neither one of us had any rest. I checked out the next morning... I WILL NEVER EVERTELL ANYONE I KNOW TO STAY AT AN EXTENDED STAY.

I received a fax at work gor a prepaid vacation. They never had Hawaii available so I waited six months then they told me I would have to pay extra to extend the date . Finally when Hawaii was avail there was an upgrade fee and a booking fee and hotel taxes. Turned out Orbitz or expedia has better rates. This Company is an agency inflating prices middle man.
