What the *** has happened?

AI Highlights
  • I was a longtime Newport, KY customer.
  • They are now a third-rate auto shop.
  • I took it to Firestone next door; the issues found didn't exist.

USE to be a long time customer and used their Newport, Ky location. What the *** happened.

They have become a third rate auto shop.

Their customer service reps are now used car salesman who try to sell you everything except what you asked for. Took my car to the Firestone right next store to it and things identified didn't exist.

User's recommendation: Stay in your car, and drive away! Terrible experience.

Treated poorly

AI Highlights
  • Regular Ridge customer who spent over $2,000; past manager was good.
  • I was told to use sanitizer, not on gloves.
  • Tire Discounters treated me well.

I walked into the Ridge store, I am a regular, gloves, 4 folks in the lobby, put down a business card, said I was in the system, (I have spent more than 2 thousand at this store.) He said I needed to use sanitizer, I put it on my gloves, he said no, not on your gloves, asked if he wanted to work on my truck, said I was being bossy, then picked up his phone and ignored me. Went to Tire Discounters where they treated me well.

Good luck.....

Dennis. You had a good manager in the past.....

Pros:
  • Location

  • Jerks at manager position

Worst Customer Service Ever

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Inconsistent messages about appointments from staff.
  • Walton KY had one mechanic on Saturdays and no name was taken.
  • Customer won't buy tires again.

Comment!! I will never buy tires from Bob Sumerel again!!

You have the worst customer service in the business !! Today I went to 2 of your stores just to get my tires rotated and balanced for tires I purchased from your corporation. First,I went to the Walton, KY location. I was there first thing in the morning when the doors opened.

My wife, handicapped daughter and I were going on vacation and I wanted my tires rotated and balanced... easy task. However, at the Walton KY store I was told that on Saturday they have one mechanic working. What??

One mechanic !! On a Saturday ?! So I requested that they please call the Fort Wright store to see if they had availability that day. He did not ask for my name but told me to go down around 2:00 and he could do it no problem.

I said that would be great. After leaving there and returning home I thought to myself I better call back to the Fort wright store and check to see if I needed to setup an appointment at 2:00 with my actual name since he didn't take my name when the man from the Walton store called them for me. I was told by the gentleman at the Ft. Wright store...

"NO DON"T WORRY ABOUT IT. I HAVE NOTHING GOING ON FROM 2:00 TO 4:00." I ASKED AGAIN..."ARE YOU SURE YOU DO NOT NEED MY NAME AND AGAIN HE REPLIED " NO JUST SHOW UP." Well I showed up and he says "what time Monday would you like to come in?" At that point I explained to him the whole situation. Then he tells he " WE DO EVERYTHING BY APPOINTMENT" I replied " ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I CALLED EARLIER AND I WAS TOLD DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT JUST SHOW UP..NOTHING GOING ON FROM 2 TO 4." This is horrible customer service!!!

Could you please explain to me this type of customer service and why such an individual has a job at the front desk dealing with the public and handling customer service needs ?! I even asked for his business card and was told that "neither he nor the manager have such cards." I have bought tires from your corporation for several years but after today I know that I will never purchase tires from your corporation AGAIN !! Tell me sirs...."do you think this is acceptable customer service? How would you like to personally experience customer service such as this?!!

Just UNACCEPTABLE !! I used to highly recommend your company to others but with good conscious will no longer do so !!

Pros:
  • Michelin tires
Cons:
  • Arrogent service personal

Did not know what they were doing and lied to me.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Alignment refused; drive axle issue and bad inner tie rod, $400 quote.
  • I found the drive axle was fine; rack seals caused the inner tie rod leak.

Went i for all wheel allignnent and new tires. Told them my car was shaking at 65 mph.

Bad, wearing outside tires in front and that the previous owner said he had subframe changed because it rotted and cracked. They told me they could not do a allignment becaust my drive axle was out of transmission and that my inner tie rod was bad, it was loose. They gave me a quote of just over $400 to put drive axle in and change tie rod. I am a mechanic so i went home took apart and drive axle was fine it had been cliped in to transmission like it should, no worn splunes and for the inner tie rod there was pwr.

Steering fluid all over frame because the rack and pinion seals were shot resulting in a loose inner tie rod so if i had them do the work which he said no warrenty for or refund then it would had been for nothing. I asked one of the guys there when it was on the lift if he would pop that axle back in so i would know if it had a problem and came back out or the mechanic b4 forgot to push in and he told me he was not touching that thing. It would had taken 2 seconds w a pry bar. I called back after i did the work that did not even have to be done and did not even get a appology for trying to rip me off.

I have taken all my cars there ovet the years so dont know why the disrespect. They wanted to put my new tires on without the problems fixed also which would be pointless.

Bob Sumerel Tire - Brakes Replacement Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Changed brakes and rotors; lifetime parts warranty.
  • Rotor warped; they blamed aggressive braking and offered no discount or warranty support.

Bob Sumerel changed my brakes and rotors and told me that I had lifetime warranty on parts. On way out of store they said that if I notice a "shimmy" that it isn't uncommon and to bring it back.

Six months later I noticed a shimmy but didn't return to store until 14 month point with less than 12,000 miles. They evaluated it and said that it is a warped rotor. They blamed "aggressive driving" or frequent braking. They didn't offer to discount repairs and claimed that they have a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty.

Refused to back their work!

No thanks! I'll take my cars someplace that stands behind their work and doesn't make excuses!

Auto Repair Scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Bearings were needed during the front-end alignment.
  • Bearings replaced; test drive was fine.
  • Clerk quoted ~$400 for new bearings; customer alleges bearings were destroyed.

Went in for a front end alignment and was told car needed new wheel bearings. I replaced the bearings and I test drove the car and it drove very nice, no noise, no grinding etc.

so I went back for the alignment. The front desk clerk said they still need to install new wheel bearing and they want almost $400.00 I said we just installed new bearings and there is no problems with them. The mechanic intentionally destroyed the new bearings by using a impact wrench and driving the spindle nut and washer into the bearings thus destroying them to a point when I removed them there was nothing but little pieces of metal. And ALL the grease was removed by their mechanic from the cavity and bearings to give more room to over tighten and destroy wheel bearings.

The store manager refused to talk to me about this complaint and the corporate office also refused to talk to me about this.

Loss:
$400
Cons:
  • Poor

  • Replaced four tires this spring; they won't hold air.
  • Management won't fix the issue; I'll switch to another company.

During the spring I replaced all 4 of my tires....with road hazard... my husband wanted me to be safe when I went anywhere...I have done went to the store twice over complaints that my tires will not hold air..i purchased at the Forest Park...when I have even had the manager that would not take care of my problem and wanted to make an appointment for this weekend and by then my tires will go flat... would take care of upset and then go to the other customers... that would how the costumers they worked on the customers with problems I think if they don't straighten up we are going to another company that put their company and upset customers My father always went to bob sumeral now go and they just slap the tires this is a pore sho customer service and the customers that are sitting there...I think I deserve a new set put back on my truck.....I hope this is resolved quickly.

Preferred solution: take them back off the rims and put rim seal on all 4and figure out if it is defected like we asked the last time and get a employee that acqiually knows what we need done and treated like an important customer instead of a problem

Bob Sumerel Tire Co Inc and Gouging

AI Highlights
  • I bought tires at Tire Discounters in Cincinnati.
  • There was a bad tire.
  • 65%/35% replacement offered.
  • I chose Bob Sumerel to replace.
  • I spent about $1,500.

Purchased Tires from Tire Discounters in Cincinnati Ohio. Got a bad tire.

After a long story and going back to the manufacturer of the tires, the Manufacturer offered to replace the tires at 65%/35% where I would pay the 35%.

Chose to go to Bob Sumerel Tire instead of Tire discounter to replace the tires.

After Bob Sumerel got done replacing the tires I ended up spending almost as much as a new set of tires even though I was only supposed to pay 35%

Between the original tires and the new tires I have over $1500 invested in an $800 set of tires.

Inept service. Dropped off a simple garden tire and three days latter and two trips to the store I was told that the did not have the tire ready and could not find the correct size.

They offered to give me the tire free of charge but what good would that do if its the wrong size. They had every excuse you could think of but no solutions other than go somewhere else.

sounds like you are a bad driver, and don't take care of your car. next time buy good tires.
