I purchased a vehicle on November 30, 2018 and traded my vehicle as part of the transaction. After taking possession of the new vehicle, the dealer was not able to remove the rear license plate from my trade in and assured me that they would get it off in their service department and not to worry. I followed up with the sales representative on December 4 and was told that the plate was off and that I could pick it up. I went in towards the end of that week to learn that the plate was nowhere to be found. That evening, my husband returned to the dealership and found that there were a number of license plates that were in disarray and they were not able to find my plate. The larger issue is that I opted to transfer the registration of my vanity plate. I submitted my registration to the finance manager via email on 12/1/18 with the understanding that my registration would be processed. Despite a number of calls, no one has been able to resolve the issue with the missing plate or my failure to receive NJMVC documents that would permit me to inspect my car and use the vanity plates that I purchased (and are still within the registration period). I have been told that the plate would be mailed overnight. I was also told recently that they were going to purchase a replacement plate for me through the Rahway mvc. My concern is not being able to drive my car without the proper documents and the potential loss of a plate that means so much to me. Their fee for registration and title service is $599 and they have fallen woefully short on delivering.
