The dust has not even started settling over Frankfort Herald DMCA games as the new player has come to light – Mashable City a/k/a mashablecity.com. The throne is never vacant…
In their May 2016 DMCA takedown notice to Google, Mashable City alleged that they were the copyright owner of PissedConsumer content published back in 2013.
Original URL: http://www.mashablecity.com/travel/transportation/cam-transport-inc-fraud-alert
Allegedly Infringing PC URLs: https://wagner-trucking-inc.pissedconsumer.com/category/transportation.html, https://wagner-trucking-inc.pissedconsumer.com/review.html, and https://wagner-trucking-inc.pissedconsumer.com/american-truck-showrooms-rip-off-20130515408960.html
Mashable City claims to be “…a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com…”
Strangely enough, this shining beacon of an advertisement website fails to provide its users with any information about its nature or its service or any contact details. Moreover, when you look at the review allegedly stolen by PissedConsumer, it turns out that it is THE ONLY review on mashablecity.com in the Travel/Transportation category (please see https://www.mashablecity.com/category/travel/transportation/).
We have decided to keep digging and – voila! Mashable City has come out full force in all its glory:
Travel/Tourism Category – no posts whatsoever (https://www.mashablecity.com/category/travel/tourism/)
Finance/Accounting Category – no posts whatsoever (https://www.mashablecity.com/category/finance/accounting/)
And, when it comes to the overall activity of this website, we have discovered that it decided to cease its activity from 2012 to 2016 renewing it with….Exactly right! The article the copyright to which has been allegedly infringed by PissedConsumer!
One can only wonder as to the number and success rate of Mashable City’s sneak attacks against its unsuspecting victims…
