- - Text marketing for the rate felt deceptive.
- - Contract uses acronyms; may hide details and risk a 3-year term.
- - Budgeted billing needs 12 months history.
I recently received a text on a reduced rate offer. I'm gonna tell you that I think your marketing practices to me are deceptive because it doesn't say to look at the details of the contract that gives you some acronyms, and you're supposed to figure out what those acronyms are in order to read the contract details.
So I wasn't about to get locked into a three-year contract just because I was getting a reduced rate, so that's the number one issue. Number two is I asked for budgeted billing. They said they want 12 months of history, and if not, they're gonna go by the service address. Why do I want to pay a monthly budget based on somebody else's usage?
If you don't do it, then just don't do it. That's my opinion, so the customer service department, to me, is terrible. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and he just blatantly ignores me and keeps sending me the same information. Luckily, I chatted with Maria Reyes in the chat process, and she explained everything to me about the reduced rate offer, and that's why I was able to kind of pull the acronyms listed on the marketing text to figure out what kind of contract I was getting into.
My contract renews in January 2027. It should be an email that you received on the reduced rate offer because that gives you more opportunity to review the details. A text is just, I don't like it. I think it's a stupid way to market reduced rate offers, and I find it deceptive.
I don't know if I'm going to renew it based on my interactions; I probably will not. I'll look for another provider that is clearer in their messaging and information.
User's recommendation: Always always read the details of the contract always and if you don’t know where it is, then you get a marketing or text look for it or ask them to review it and explain it. Otherwise you get locked into a contract and if you have to jump out of it, you could be paying months of you know Violation fee is what I call it.
