Unhappy with total Bistro MD experience

Customer is not able to successfully choose their own meals. The company dictates what you should receive, whether you like the meal or not.

Website is confusing as when you look at the screen to monitor your shipments, you see a "SKIP" logo behind the week. Great, that means I will not receive a delivery that week. Oh no, if you want to skip a week, you must click on the already showing SKIP button, and then you will see an UNSKIP button. Does that make sense to anyone?

Not to me---if I see a SKIP that means I am Skipping a shipment.

Regarding choosing your own meals, you are limited to the number of meals you can delete from your available meals. This means even if you forget to update your order after they have chosen your meals for you, or if you think you are skipping, there will be meals that are sent to you that you do not want. Crazy. Some of their meals I like and others I do not.

As a consumer, I would like to choose what I pay for. I incorporate these meals into my diet and like to have them on hand. I don't understand the company posture of telling you what you should eat.

Customer service was terrible the first call, but much better the next three. The bottom line is: Send me what I want, not what your company wants to send me.

Ridiculous. I felt stupid talking to the customer rep and begging them to send me what I want, including duplicates of some of the ones I like. I also said to the rep if your company's posture is that they will dictate your meals to "force" you to comply with their recommendations, then please just tell me that. Otherwise, I expect to be able to choose my own meals each and every time.

Just got another unexpected box today, which included about 4 out of 10 that I do not like.

I cannot say I am 100% unhappy with BistroMD, only because I like some of the meals. But in every other aspect, I am unhappy and I am currently searching for another food delivery service subscription.

Preferred solution: I would like to receive 100% the meals I like. I would like to delete all of the ones I do not like, as a back up for when I get a delivery in a week I am not expecting it, due to the confusing nature of how deliveries work.

Bistromd - STAY AWAY

This company is a RIPOFF, they have hidden cost hidden everywhere on their site! We bought a diebetic plan for someone, their pricing page CLEARLY states 119.00 per month.....there is NO other info on that pricing page that states the price will nearly DOUBLE after the first week! Customer service horrible, they hung up on me when i called to complain about their shady tactics....STAY AWAY!

Rip off!!!

They tout healthy FTESH food prepared by registered dieticians targeted to special dietary needs. The food is far from fresh and it’s not high quality.

Every meal has pasta, rice, crepes or bagels for the main portion and very few veggies. What ever the protein it was always dry and overcoooked. The cost per meal comes out to about $10 for less than 10 oz of food. When you sign up for the service you are committed to two weeks because the cancelation deadline occurs before you get your first delivery.

You select your preferences and dislikes in your profile and then they show you your meals for the week however what you receive is different they what they show will be in your delivery. They don’t guarantee you will get your food the same day every week. There is so much packaging used it’s ridiculous. The customer service is non existent.

They don’t have a mobile app, sometimes when you call you have the option to request a call back over times it says the system is busy and hangs up on you .

It takes them 12 hours to return an email and it’s scripted communication. Bottom line if the food tasted good and was not predominantly unhealthy carbs and fillers in would be worth the convenience.

Not healthy

Contains additives and preservatives which make sick people worse. Might be fine for many healthy individuals who just want to lose weight, but not healthy for those seeking food which is without all the common garbage in prepared food.

Bad additives, under 'Natural Flavorings'

Spent over $500.00 for meals which three of us could not eat.

We are all sensitive to MSG, but also additives and preservatives similar to MSG termed 'Natural Flavorings'.

Made us all not well, especially after eating consecutive meals from them. When I tried to speak to their customer service person, she was rudely dismissive...said, it's not our food. Sounds like she is used to dismissing people's concerns. If this is recommended for older people or those with health concerns looking to eat healthy,

these meals sure did not do any of that for us. It wasn't long after a few meals that we all refused to eat anymore. I was sensitive to the first one, and it became even more progressive as I continued.

Disappointed in the treatment, false advertising about how healthy their meals are, and wasting money on unhealthy food, we could not eat.

I have most of it in our freezers and will send it on to the FDA USDA for analysis. This food could cause serious illness in those sensitive.

Never heard of 'em. Why do you still have the food ?

And why do you eat consecutive meals from there ? I am confused.

One purchases a weeks worth of meals. So if you ate one, your next meal would be a different food. After a few meals, I really felt sick, and so did the others with whom I shared the "so called healthy meals'.

Food Okay / Customer Service Stinks

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My wife and I found the food overall okay. We both ordered the meal plans.

we are located on the west coast and they are on the east coast. Most of the time the deliveries would show up with all the dry-ice melted and the the food questionably at room temperature, along with at least one to two broken food containers. Their customer service is the worst. They don't care if your a customer or not.

Their phone hours are only Monday - Friday east coast time. I have to call before noon west coast time or else I'm out of luck, no live person to speak to.

I asked them to fix the deliveries and their website that is prone to problems or I will cancel - their response was good-bye, we don't need you.

If your located anywhere besides the east coast, look elsewhere for a food plan besides BistroMD.

Bistro MD Diet Plan

The ultra-expensive diet plan, which claims to have the best tasting food (outpacing Jenny Craig and Nutrasystem, etc) could not have been worse. The food in inedible...nothing gourmet about it.

It's not just poor, it's terrible. And, although I filled out my profile and noted that I could not eat any cooked leafy greens, they argued that spinach is not a leafy green, and a full 80% of the meals (yes, even breakfast) was loaded with spinach. When I questioned this, they told me spinach is part of the cabbage family (which it is NOT) and they blew me off.

I cannot get customer service, dietitions, or anyone else at Bistro MD to even return an email or telephone call. At approximately $30/day for their food, and this type of customer service.....not to mention terrible taste, I feel it's important to warn others to not even try this scam.

Just because you do not know what healthy eating is...leafy greens, don't disparage other people search for a healthy way to lose weight. Go back to eating your chemical laden nutrisystem food because that is surely a better option for someone as ignorant as you.
