Poor Communication

I found it very difficult to communicate with placement coordinator Jess. Her response times were very inconsistent and limited, and I continuously had to bug her to get back to me.

Beware!

Birch Nannies - Beware!

At first I thought that this company and our matchmaker, Jess, fell from the Heavens to actually make my life easier ... unfortunately their true colors came out when it was time to invoice us and demand payment before the nanny even started and then refuse to uphold their end of the contractual agreement to backfill the nanny position free of charge when notice was given within the contractual 90 day window.

So now I have paid thousands of dollars and do NOT have the long term nanny I hired them to find me. They said that because I waited a few DAYS to pay the invoice (I paid when the nanny actually SHOWED UP for the job) I voided the replacement clause. They also said that, even though I gave notice within the 90 day window which was their stated policy which I confirmed with Jess in the few weeks leading up to the 90 day mark), because I worked out a notice period of a few months with my current nanny (to help her out as she prepares for her mother's impending cancer treatments which is why she cannot commit long term to begin with) instead of a few weeks that they were unwilling to do the replacement work unless I paid another fee. Because I am doing the right thing by my current nanny and giving a long notice period, they are trying to squeeze me for another fee!

It's an unfortunate realization of how the world works - driven by maximizing the bottom line instead of integrity and compassion. I felt obligated to post this review so that those of you considering working with this agency aren't fooled the way I was. Watch out! Not only are they trying to squeeze me for more fees when my nanny has only been here a few months but they should have PROPERLY SCREENED this nanny to begin with in which case they would have known she wasn't able to commit long term to our position.

I am SOL as they say. My bank account might be empty but at least my conscience is clear.
