Hoping (desperately) to seek obtain an overulling
- - Bettys vouchers are cash equivalents with expiry.
- - The staff say the expiry can't be extended.
- - No phone contact; email replies are efficient.
We've visited Bettys and enjoyed the afternoon teas on many occasion.
Last year, I purchased four £20 Bettys Café vouchers as a gift for may parents to us for afternoon tea. For a whole series of health related reasons, my parents have not be able to visit the area since that time, although hope to do so shortly.
These vouchers are simply a monitory value that you exchange for the afternoon tea, paying for any additional amounts.
Rather strangely, Bettys have an expiry date on these vouchers.
Given that my vouchers are due to expire shortly, I have contact Bettys to enquire if there is any way to extend the expiry date. After all, £80 is simply £80 on a voucher already paid for, and really an expiry date serves no purpose what so ever.
Bettys however, are absolutely insistent that these vouchers will be invalid after the expiry date and therefore that's £80 down the drain.
Or, rather, pocketed by Bettys.
There's no way to contact Bettys by phone - they don't answer - and therefore requests have needed to be by e.mail.
The responses by mail have been highly efficient and timely however, there's no opportunity to discuss or request a review.
Posting here, my hope is that Bettys might review their policy on this. What's the point of expiry on a cash equivalent voucher anyway?

“Rather strangely…have an expiration”. Nothing strange about it.
It is clearly stated in their terms. What is STRANGE is buying four separate vouchers that would not cover the cost of each visit. It sounds like you received some sort of incentive or deal. Who gives one gift requiring four visits that only partially pay for each visit?
You’d have given a better gift if your parents could walk in and leave only one time, not owing anything. Do better research before you make purchases.
