After doing several repairs for free I figured I could walk in and jokingly ask why Im going to have to pay 1000.00 per season to pull my personal boat out leading me to walk out confused and offended. Badgering me got a resonance out of me .

I told him to Shut up and quit antagonizing me. They called the Police on me. Trespassed. I would never go back there as long as Doc the owner of 2nd Amendment in Mchenry has anything to do with this place.

He has a gun on his hip and acts like Doc Holliday ! The Wild West in Fox Lake Illinois

Share a poor experience

I have a Paddle Qwest Pontoon which I originally purchased from Ahlstrand Marina. At the time of purchase, I also agreed to have Ahlstrand deliver; store; and maintain the boat.

However, late in 2021 Ahlstrand advised that they would be closing their doors so I began to research other options and narrowed my focus to Ben Watts Marina (BWM) driven in large part by the positive online reviews. MY EXPERIENCE WAS THE EXACT OPPOSITE.

I personally visited BWM in early August with my manual in hand and provided them with the manufacturer; model; dimensions; images; et al and confirmed that they were capable of pickup/delivery/storage/maintenance of the pontoon and then asked for the costs associated with each. They confirmed their capabilities and the costs were competitive and as such, I attempted to make arrangements for the pickup/delivery/storage but they said that August was too early and that I should call back in September.

I called back in September once in early September and again mid-September and each time provided all the same relevant information and they reaffirmed the cost and pick up date. The morning of the pick-up, they called to advise that they were on their way and I met them with the pontoon at the agreed upon time.

As I pulled up to the trailer, the representative told me to stop indicating that he had the wrong size trailer and that BWM did NOT in fact have the right size trailer so he could not make the pickup.

I immediately called BWM to review the aforementioned and they said we didnt know you had a pontoon. I stated that I provided you with the required information (manual; image; dimensions; et al) 3X.

You KNEW I had a pontoon.

So as a direct result of BWMs incompetency, my boat is still sitting at the dock; Ive had to cancel the arrangements to have my dock removed for the season; lost a mornings work; and need to scramble to find someone late in the season to pick up & store my pontoon AND remove my dock both likely at a late-season premium.

I expected much better from Ben Watts Marina. Much, much better.
