Lack of Care
- - ER wait was long; concerns about waiting-area care.
- - No heated blanket provided after the wait.
- - VP apology sent, but no follow-up call.
Took my son to the ER at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He had been throwing up every couple of minutes for hours.
We checked in, he had his puke bucket and we waited in wait area to be called. Right after us a couple came in the guy in a wheelchair. He stated he had tested positive for covid but his symptoms were getting worse. So where did they put him??
RIGHT IN THE WAITING AREA! My son was getting increasingly cold and couldn't stop shaking so I requested a heated blanket at the reception area. Was told they would ask a nurse when available. 20 minutes went by - nothing.
So a nurse came out from the er to talk to someone about personal stuff so I asked her if she could get me a heated blanket as my son could not stop shivering. Her response "We don't bring heated blankets out to the er waiting area because then everyone would want one. UM OK??? So we still sat there, finally a young mom came out of the back with a newborn and said she had been waiting for over an hour and her baby was getting worse that she was taking her elsewhere.
By then I had told my son we were going to Janesville. A week later we received a letter for Sharon Cox who is the Vice President of Beloit Health System apologizing saying the ER was extremely busy, yet nurses could stand around talking. It also stated that if I had any questions or concerns to give her a call. So I called and the secretary who answered the phone said she was on another call and asked what I was calling about.
I told her about the letter and she stated oh we send several of those letters out every day. I left my name and number and said if Sharon wanted to contact me and listen to my complaint I would make myself available. Guess what?
She never called. We will NEVER deal with Beloit Health System again, we will drive farter to get quality care as this isn't even bare minimum care.
User's recommendation: Go elsewhere
Pathetic Billing Practices
- - Payment plan for my son's medical bills was stopped; they sent him to collections despite payments and lost consent; this happened twice.
We had a payment plan to pay my son's medical bills. They somehow stopped the plan and now are sending my son to collections when we had routinely made payments.
They also lost the authorization for communication that was done, since he is a college student over 18. This issue has happened twice with them.
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Stay away from Beloit Health Systems. The Doctors were good but the billing will cause endless issues.
