We purchased 5 gallons of the Behr Deck Over for our back deck. We followed the instructions to the T. Which mind you takes forever to prep the deck according to the instructions. 2 years ago we painted the deck. The next spring the entire deck was chipping and peeling and it seemed to make things worse. Our neighbor bought this product last year. He is also going through the SAME THING. I can't understand how this stuff is still on the...

I painted my deck last September with Deck Over, purchased 3 gallons of it and this stuff is not cheap. When spring came the deck was peeling. After it rains or if it is a hot sunny day you can literally peel the paint off the deck. I followed all the directions on the can. This stuff is garbage. My deck is only 3 years old and now I am trying to re-finish it, once I can figure out what to take the remainder of the Deck over off with. Wish...

I applied deck over to my 450+ sq ft decks out 7 days ago. I was informed to NOT chemical peel or sand the deck by the Home Depot employee. Working with many materials throughout my life I found this to be a it unorthidox. I went with it anyway and purchased the pre deck cleaning solution because the rep in Home Depot said it would open the pours of the wood and allow better penetration. I knew he was full of *** but I bought it anyway because...

Behr Deckover Deck Paint Review

We put Deckover on the deck of our summer house a mere two years ago. Today we are stripping it off because it has bubbled up, worn, trapped moisture, everything you wouldn't want a deck paint to do. We will be using something different on this deck and the new deck we start building next week.

Behr Deckover Deck Paint Review

This stuff is a joke. We bought it hoping to avoid staining and that it was "chip" resistant. That's not the case. This is worse than stain and a nightmare to touch up. We spent over $1k to use this and have had nothing but problems.

My deck surrounds my entire home and this is what I have to look at after using this paint. I feel totally sick. This paint cost us a lot of money. I can't afford to replace it and it seems to be sucking the life out of the wood. It's cracking when you walk on it along with peeling, bubbling and shredding. I can't believe what a mess I have going on. I see so many bad reviews on this paint. I was wondering if anyone else was able to get your...

Just finished painting the deck with this product. My deck used to look great with a red oil transparent color but I could not find this oil anymore, and also had new wood added, so I needed a product that would cover it better. It did cover little wholes and cracks, however, as soon as it dried it was very rough. Now it picks up dirt and cannot be washed even with a strong hose pressure. I even tried scrubbing with soap and a brush but the soil...

My deck is RUINED by this junk. Totally peeling, chipping, bubbling, warping. BEHR DECKOVER DOES N-O-T WORK. I applied the product exactly as stated - was extremely careful in order to be sure to get the absolute best result. That did not happen. Have had friends use it with the exact same results. They would not recommend it either. Stores should remove this product from their shelves or there should be a class action lawsuit for all...

Anonymous Agreed. We applied this in summer 2014. Had problems with chipping and peeling. When it rains it bubbles and walking on it pulls it right off the deck. What a mess.

I applied deckover to my deck apx 4 years ago and started to notice chipping and peeling within 2 years which has continued to get worse. I have re-applied in heavy traffic areas and this year many of my deck boards are rotted around the screw holes and the cut ends. My contractor is convinced that this product is causing the rotting due to the product not allowing the wood to dry out. When I first applied the product, I was very satisfied...

I agree that this product is garbage. I too am stuck with how to attack the problems it has caused. Pressured washed and cleaned deck .Also waited until dry to apply behr deck paint. Done in the (last ) summer so no wet wood !! This *** is bubbling up and peeling . Save yourself the problems and pass on this garbage product . I have been a contractor and in construction for 40 years. I know how to apply these type of products . Not a beginner...

Jimmy Having the same problem. Applied as per instructions. A little over a year later I'm removing 3/4 of it and reapplying just so it matches for now.

It does not last, the company says it's the fault of us not prepping the wood. Well we cleaned and pressures washed the deck and even used soap and water to get it as clean as possible. Just a total scam product. Now I will have to replace the deck boards completely as I can not completely get all of the coating material off. Once all the boards are replaced I will then will stick to just water proofing stain but may just go composite and be...

We have a second home in the mountains of southern New Mexico and applied about 15 gallons of the Behr Deck Over product in Desert Sand color. After 1 year the coating started peeling off the deck and rails, Now we are 2 years and the product is peeling much worse and we view using this product as a total waste of money. The product looks great once applied, but over time, the product cannot hold up to the normal weather conditions. There have...
