Bug problem

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The entire family went for our niece's birthday trip! Over 20 of us went and stayed in different sections of the resort.

After the first few nights, we started to have big issues in all of our rooms! Management moved us all to different rooms only for us to have the same issue. We ended up leaving early due to the overall rudeness of the managers!

I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but this was a waste of money that we now can't get back! Keep our exorbitant amount of money for the few days we stayed and ate horrible food, but at least give us a refund for the days we didn't stay due to roaches!

Beaches Ocho Rios resort

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This is a long post. I tried to do a thorough review.

Just left after a 10 day stay at Beaches Ocho Rios.

We could not be more disappointed. Allow me to start by saying we travel often. This was the second of 3 back to back trips for us. We have been to Sandles Antigua (absolutely Gorgeous) but never a Beaches resort.

When a property is listed as a 5 star resort, and costs what this resort costs, a certain level of excellence is expected.

This property is in need of a major overhaul. Very dated. Things is disrepair. Peeling paint everywhere.

Broken floor tiles, loose railings and overall dirty and dingy. The lobby/reception area is so moldy and musty smelling that I had to avoid it because it set off my allergies.

I arrived by myself (middle aged, single female) and my family was meeting me 2 days later. Upon check in, I was taken to my room. It was absolutely gross.

It had obviously not been cleaned, yet the bed was made. There was some type of white goop in the bathroom sink, dirty shoe prints throughout the room, long black hairs in the tub and on the shower wall, pubic hairs on and around the toilet, liquid of some sort spilled on the nightstand and dust so thick on the headboard and the baseboards throughout the room that you could write your name in it. I asked for a different room and they brought the housekeeping manager to see me. She was very sweet and so apologetic.

She was very dismayed at the state of the room and had cleaners come immediately. The room was ground level and the locks on the sliding glass door were broken and would not lock. This was a concern since I was solo the first 2 nights. The evening/night manger, Roshane was called.

He was the rudest and most disrespectful man that I have ever encountered. He told me I had 2 choices, stay in that room or go to a different resort but made it clear there would be no refund. He literally SCREAMED at me to the point that I was in tears. The other staff was super sweet and comforted me as did other guests.

My fiancé was on the phone listening to this and asked to talk to this manager and he refused to get on the phone with him. My fiancé then called the front desk and asked for him. My fiancé tried to work things outasked for a new room, tried to come up with a solution but this manager was just as rude to him and completely unwilling to work with us on any level. My fiancée ended up booking another resort for me until he arrived.

(Golden Eye-which was absolutely beautiful) I asked for a reliable cab to be called.I was rudely refused (by manager Roshane) and made to order and pay for my own.

The next day my fiancée reached out to the main customer service number. He basically told the same thing, nothing they can do. No refund would be given so we were faced with either working this out or losing $25,000 for the two rooms we had booked. They put my fiancé in touch with the general manager at the resort Mr.

Kerr. He was amazing, and I cannot say enough good things about him. He had me come over from the other resort to give me a tour of a new room that he upgraded us to. He had it freshly cleaned and wanted to ensure it was acceptable - which it absolutely was.

I opted to stay at the other resort until my family arrived.

I was assured that the night manager, Roshane would not be there as I believe he was probably let go because I asked for them to review the video of the incident and to talk to the other employees. When we all arrived Mr. kerr greeted us personally and again apologized. I really thought that things were improving.

However, we were there for less than an hour and decided to go down to the beach.

We took the beach elevator, which is not ventilated and very hot. The doors would not open AND the emergency call button did not work. The only contact information I had in my phone was that of Mr. Kerr so I texted him and he was there within five minutes.

He had to pry open the elevator doors with his body and pull us out one by one. I had a little bit of a panic attack and was taken to medical to check my vitals. Just an awful experience all around.

The new room was ok. Clean but most Definitely not worth the money (and we were upgraded) compared to many other places we have stayed.

Dated, dinged up furniture, cracked tiles on floor, broken toilet seat and chipping grout in the bathroom. The bed was fairly comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and blankets. The balcony had a nice view especially during the gorgeous sunsets. The air conditioner was not working well in our room.

It would run for 1/2 and hour and shut off. We were waking up multiple times a night sweaty, wed turn it on, fall asleep and repeat all night. It took 2 days/sleepless nights and 3 attempts before it was finally resolved. It worked great after they found the faulty board and replaced it.

We were comfortable the remainder of the trip.

The food. The food was not good. Not at all. So disappointing.

You had to saw the steaks they were so tough. The buffet was gross. Everything that should be cold , was warm. I chose to look at the bright side, I think I definitely lost a few pounds on this trip.

Actually excited to get on the scale! lol. ***Gluten intolerant People: I blew up horribly after eating the gluten free pasta It ruined a whole night of the trip for me since I was sick in the room. The bar staff was amazing at the pool bar.

The bartenders at the piano bar were great. The spa was incredible and I really enjoyed the services there. Kemisha (I hope I spelled that correctly) is INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend the raindrop massage.

Housekeeping was friendly and efficient in our new room. The staff at the restaurants were very friendly as well and accommodating to my gluten intolerance. The scuba staff was very nice. Photo staff was awesome.

The beesthe pool bar swarms with bees.

They are everywhere even floating in the pool. If you are allergic, bring an Epi pen. My fiancé got stung on the back. The bartenders said they get stung several times a week.

Really, really bad. Many guests were complaining.

So to summarize everything (and I do apologize for the long post) I would maybe consider this a three star resort. We actually canceled our New Years trip with our son to the Turks and Caicos Beaches (which after talking to other guests is supposed to be 1000% nicer) because we were very dissatisfied with this trip. I was terribly sad to cancel because we had an epic suite booked

I tried to give a very honest and factual review based on OUR experience here.

Im not looking to slam the resort, but just trying to offer the facts of OUR stay.

For us, this was our last visit to any Sandles or Beaches resorts.

**I do want to add that the first 2

nights of my scheduled stay, I was at a different resort because of the problems I encountered upon check in. I was NOT issued a refund and paid for 2 resorts on those 2 nights.

Please review the pictures attached.

You are not entitled to a price reduction. If you cannot afford to pay full price don't stay here.

Terrible Resort

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Recently visited Ocho Rio Beaches (1/26-1/29/2023). This trip was terrible, the resort was less then 2 STARS.

The room had no view, just view of the roof- the representative did move us to a room with a terrace. However it was next to the Parisian Restaurant and overnight (OVERNIGHT) they would bang chairs, clean loudly enough to keep us awake every night. Traveled with two kids 8&10 and they were scolded by the camp- so much so they were punished and not allowed to go the XBOX lounge. A lot of money was paid for the exclusivity and luxury of Sandals.

However, many locals were also there to enjoy the "luxury" amenities on a daily basis. The entertainment was solely based on the employee's liked taste- and not the resorts guests likes... Complete waste of money. I have been to Turks & Caicos, so I picked Beaches thinking it was going to be the luxury we knew.

This was not the case. I wish I had some way to really make people aware of this SCAM.
