Absolute Worst builder-liar and stole our hard earned money
Brian Oconell and any of his business including Bayou Homes is a scam. This man over promises and completely under delivers. He was contracted to build our custom home yet he didn’t pay vendors and allowed his subs to lien our property because he never paid them even though we paid him for those particular jobs. His subcontractors are disgusted with how he was able to manipulate and talk them into reasons why he hasn’t paid them. Reality is he took our money and used it for other things that had NOTHING to do with our contract and Project. He’s liar and a crook and belongs in jail for messing with people’s hard earned money. Don’t EVER use Brian Oconnel as a contractor or sub.

Does not deliver as promised
We contracted a job with this person. All kinds of promises. Gentlemen's agreement made. A contract was also provided with plans. Shoddy workmanship provided by the subcontractors. Tried to make us feel like we got a real deal when in fact we paid retail per sq ft. What was noticed is that he likes to intimidate and out right lie. He can not keep his story straight. Everyday it was a different song and dance about product and how he is not making any money. He is real good at aggressive manipulation. We should have done more research before we committed. So buyer be ware!

they treat there help very poorly don't always pay them or find ways to slash there pay workers have waited for there pay on Fridays only to be told they will not receive it till Monday with bills to pay and mouths to feed most of these workers are trying to take care of there families Brian O'Connell could care less about his workers as long as him and his family are fine poor business ethics in my opinion workers deserve better then this this guy isn't worth working for and I'd tell anyone considering it to run away far and fast

Crooked contractors
We contracted Brian T. O'Connell at Bayou Homes gave a deposit and when the bank that he recommended turned down HIS credit we asked for a full refund. We first met with Brian T. O'Connell owner of Bayou Homes by Design early in January and discussed him the possibility of building a home on our lot. At that time we discussed our finance options. We met with him a few more times and then we entered a contract with him after agreeing on the price. We gave him a check for the down payment of $10,000 on 2-17-2013. He directed us toward Suntrust Bank where he stated he had connections and soon thereafter we applied for a construction loan (3/11/2013). We were approved for the construction loan in May but on 6-4-2013 Suntrusts' mortgage underwriting department turned down Brian T. O'Connell and Bayou Homes by Design down as the licensed building contractor based on "information on his background and credit check." For that reason on 6-5-2013, we requested in writing that our entire deposit (less any documentable expenses) be returned. We also requested a complete accounting for the time he allegedly spent. On 6-28-2013 he finally returned by mail a check for $2838 to us and sent no explanation or accounting for the $7162 that he kept.
