Customer Service does not exist...why would anyone trust this company?

I called to inquire about this medical alert system for my elderly parents. I was in a phone queue and they provided me the opportunity to receive a call back when someone was available without loosing my place in line.

Well 48 hours later, still no call back. I called customer service just now and they told me they are having problems with their call back system.

If they cannot get a basic customer service call back system to work, why would I entrust this company with the safety and well being of my elderly parents.

This is a "family owned" business is owned by Westphal family. This is a company who needs to depend upon the trust they build with their clients and that starts will sales.

When I asked to speak with a supervisor, the supervisor put it back on the salesperson and refused to get on the phone. Then I asked to speak with one of the family owners and not one was available in the office.

BE WARNED...DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH THE HEALTH, WELFARE, AND WELL BEING OF ANYONE YOU LOVE.

Don't Use Bay for Business Alarms

We are a small business with 5 employees. Our alarms were competently installed and monitored for 9 years by Vivitar Security.

When Bay Alarm purchased Vivitar two years ago, they tripled our monitoring fees from $255 per quarter to $725 per quarter. The local Bay Alarm office proved to be incompetent configuring our two specialized UL 2050 alarms for monitoring and serious problems were discovered both times that Underwriter Lab physically inspected the alarms. During the two years that we were monitored by Bay Alarm we paid $5398 in monitoring fees for their inferior service. When we sold the building and tried to close the contracts, Bay Alarm sent us a bill for an additional $9200!

If Bay Alarm had not purchased Vivitar, we would have paid only $5100 for 5 years of service.

I do not recommend using Bay Alarm. They will make it impossible to cancel monitoring when you discover problems with their service or no longer require the alarms.

Bay Alarm will try to make cancelling their service as difficult as possible. They extorted me into paying for another month even though i already discontinued using the service and when I asked to speak to a supervisor the customer rep Ashley threatened to make me pay for anwhole year instead.

The "supervisor" Pablo was not helpful either.

Horrible customer service. If I ever sign up for my parents again it will NOT be with this company.

Bay Alarm

This company can't even replace the batteries in their systems on time. The fire Alarm system box located outside my condo has been beeping for days cause it needs a battery and they will not even send someone over to change the battery.

I've called them and so have my next door neighbors and still no results whatsoever. I can understand how these organizations or still in business with absolutely zero customer service whatsoever.

They install the system and I'm more than happy to take the money, when it comes to any level of customer service it's always dismal. I don't understand why this review needs to have one you write hundred words if you can explain yourself in less than 100 words.

Used them for a year for my 97 year old dad. We had a 1 year contract and cancelled the contract and still they billed us for another year.

I repeatedly called and sent them the unit back as instructed. I called 3-4 different people and they all said there was no refunds. Never use this company. They will keep billing you even when you have canceled the contract. BEWARE OF BAY ALARM!

THEY ARE A COMPANY THAT RIPS OFF THE ELDERLY.

BAY ALARM SHOULD BE PUT OF OF BUSINESS.

It is a shame that this country allows this to happen to our elderly. Save your family from this misery of this company.

I am having the same issue with Bay Alarm Medical. My mom went into assisted living.

I tried to cancel. They would not give me a pro-rated refund of the 10 months left after we paid up front, even though we had the option to pay month-to-month and just did the annual thing for convenience.

This company takes advantage of elderly and disabled persons. Do not use them!

BAY ALARM are the RIP OFF artists of the Alarm world

If you are foolish enough to sign an agreement for BAY ALARM to instal a system in your home or business, be advised that you will pay far far more than you should.

Bottom line: STAY FAR AWAY FROM BAY!

Also, understand that they will not tell you that THE SYSTEM WILL BELONG TO THEM, NOT YOU. So, when you think you want to cancel the agreement, it will NOT be easy. They will continue to bill you after the date of termination and give you far more trouble than you can possibly believe. They should not be trusted, the company is dishonest and will do all they can to keep you paying them long after you want to.

Bay Alarm contacted me and sought to resolve my concerns.. So - credit given where credit is due.

Original review Feb 23, 2013

I was a customer of Bay Alarm for nearly nineteen years. I could no longer afford the monthly monitoring fees that increased annually and was forced to cancel my service for financial reasons.

Unfortunately, this *** company refused to accept my numerous written requests and calls requesting the service be cancelled and the account closed. Bay Alarm continued to hound and harass me for several months showing the account increasingly overdue. I would not do business with Bay Alarm again, nor would I recommend the company to friends or family.

Bay Alarm is not the customer focused company is was decades ago. Find yourself a different alarm company - you'll be glad you did.

Bay Alarm - Awful

Awful awful service.

I've been with Bay Alarm for 14 years. Generally, their service has never been great but I never wanted to make the effort to switch.

Recently, I discovered that my analog cell interface (that I purchased a long time ago) to their central office was no longer supported by them since they went digital. It would have been nice if they gave me some advance notice! I only found out weeks into it when they didn't get a check-in from my system.

To make a long story short, they wanted a few hundred dollars to upgrade it. A free upgrade would have been good service, but no they didn't offer that. Rather frustrated with this company already, I waited a few weeks to decide what to do. Being pretty busy, I called them back to order it anyway on a Monday. No sales person was available and I left a voice mail. Waited a full day, no call back. Second day, no call back. I decided to check Yelp. I notice a lot of frustrated Bay Alarm customers.

So I did some research and found FrontPoint Security got rave reviews. So I decided to call FrontPoint Security. They quoted me an entirely new system for the cost I was to pay to upgrade my existing Bay Alarm system! And it looked much better and even came with an internet and iPhone interface, neither of which Bay Alarm had. FrontPoint Security monitoring fee was even $1/month cheaper. So I purchased FrontPoint Security and canceled Bay Alarm. I am very happy with FrontPoint Security, both hardware and their customer service.

That's not the end of the story. I tried to cancel Bay Alarm, and it has been a nightmare. The salesman finally called back 4 days after I left the message, and I cancelled with him personally. I followed it up with an e-mail to home and a written letter to the company.

A month later I get a call from Bay Alarm that my alarm was set off. Well, that's funny since it was disconnected and my account cancelled. I call back and they tell me my account was not cancelled! I then get transferred from person to person for 20 minutes telling everyone my account was cancelled and no one knows what to do. Wow.

Now today I receive a bill from Bay Alarm for the period AFTER the cancellation date. What a joke! No I have no intention of paying this bill, and this is what prompted me to write this review of Bay Alarm.

Stay away from this company!

Best Alarm Company

Bay Alarm is one of the most solid alarm companys out there. Superior in every way.

These complaints are from the same people on every chat site. Unbelievable pettiness from other alarm companies. The one year full service included parts & labor. you get 90 days to quit if you don't like the service, equipment or installation.

You own the equipment and it can be monitored by any other alarm company. So what other company does all of that?

The company had graet sales people who don't try to oversell, and the the installers are all very experienced and easy to talk to.

Bay Alarm

Watch out for Bay Alarm! We purchased an alarm system from them after we were burglarized and they used double sided tape on rough sawn lumber to mount the door transmitter.

This resulted in another successful burglary at our house where they removed the door transmitter with a putty knife and duct tape. The alarm didn't go off because the transmitter was taped together by the burglars. If Bay Alarm had used screws to secure the transmitter like the manufacturer recommends, the burglary would have been thwarted. We purchased the alarm to avoid this type of problem.

We found out through another more reputable alarm company that they make an in wall door transmitter mounted in the door jam which Bay didn't even offer us. The installers informed us that they can not use screws as it is a company policy. The managers claim different. The install was bad however the response from Bay Alarm was even worse.

We invited them to look at the install and at the same time provide a security assessment of our needs. All they did was say there was no liability. They didn't bother to provide any feedback on how we could upgrade the system to prevent future burglaries. When I asked the sales rep about the 90 day money back guarantee, he informed me that we had to have a good reason!

Just one more example of the poor product and service provided by them. We changed alarm companies!

Simply upset at their lack of professionalism.

Their Anaheim branch is simply horrible. The sales manager, believe his name was Ryan, cannot be trusted.

In their sales pitch, they claim their so much better on the service end of things than their competition. I don't think so. Their "own" Bay Alarm technicians are the most inexperienced in the industry and are only capable of doing very "bare bones" systems. Anything taking over 8 hours to install, they sub out for.

I found that out the hard way. Than things were left out of my original talks with the salesman and there I found this balding ***, Ryan. Yuck, he's simply pathetic and he has no good management skills; at least none shown to me. Stay away from them if you can.

I ended up going with POST Alarm in Arcadia, CA.

Read the fine print on Bay Alarm's contract. Our company had a one year commitment with bay alarm when we contracted with them to take over monitoring our existing alarm system.

After being with Bay Alarm for over four years, we moved our office and changed alarm companies. The new company offered more options for a lower price.

When we cancelled our Bay Alarm service, we received a notice stating we owed ten months of additional unused service. They pointed to the fine print on the back of the contract that states under section 15 Entire Agreement, “This agreement shall automatically, without action by either party, extend and renew itself under the same terms and conditions for successive periods of two (2) years each, after the initial period unless either party gives to the other at least 30 days written notice, prior to expiration… :(

MIJAC Alarm is also a small monitoring company based out of southern california.

I had my system replaced by Bay Alarm since the company that I had, could not figure out why my alarm falsed 4 times over weekend. The sales technician figured it out without even touching the equipment.

I've been happy customer for over 6 yrs. :)

Great research, George and “original poster”! You both seem very knowledgeable on the inner workings of this company, right down to the allocation of internal labor, your ability to rate their technicians against the industry standard, your personal feeling about this manager.

So knowledgeable you almost seem like an ex-employee with an axe to grind.

If you’re going to pollute this great site with your simpleton personal vendettas, at least make them believable. Sad.

Yeah, funny thing is I've had the same run-in with this Ryan chap here in Brea. He claims to be the Manager but he was wierd.

I wanted a security alarm but he kept bothering me about other things, to the point that when I received the proposal he obviously didn't listen to anything I was saying. He also took a stab at his competition and, as it turns out, he obviously knew nothing about his competition. He stayed on the subject of Bay Alarm being family owned and having a U.L. monitoring station in CA.

Yeah? How's that set you apart? Two of the other security companies I spoke with were also family owned and they had U.L. monitoring stations in Southern California, not Northern California.

It was so bad that his salesman called after our meeting to apologize for his bosses demeanor.

Stay away from this company if you can. I ended up going with Mijac Alarm out of Rancho Cucamonga.
