We visit the Smoky Mountains periodically with family every year. I love to stop in Asheville. One of the places we have gone is Barley's, a pizza joint right in town. They make very good pizzas and have beer on tap. It's near the co-op too.
The service though is bad. I guess it depends upon who you see. The manager is personable but does not really step in or do anything.
The person who made my experience very unpleasant was a waitress called Marisa. She seemed friendly at first but then was too forward with my husband. He complained and I thought that was over.
However, I came in another time with a friend. The same experience repeated. She was quite aggressive sexually with my friend. He laughed at it but also got uncomfortable and signaled to the manager, who did nothing.
She also went on a long rant about being the only Jewish person in the area and that people considered her special and that she stood out. We just nodded and tried to be agreeable, while stepping away.
I ran into her again by the bathroom area by the end of night, when she appeared to be drunk. She was aggressive towards me and said I did not deserve to have attention. I did nothing. I just was not sure how to handle it. After she finished a big speech on her life and relationships, I walked away.
We have not been in ever since because I am frankly not comfortable with such temperamental people. She was roaming around unchecked.
