Barkingham palace groomers butchered my dog!
I took my dog to Barkingham Palace in Metuchen, N.J to be groomed......supposedly by licensed groomers....she was butchered....she is a beautiful golden retriever and now has no tail and no hair in several parts of her body....I was told by the groomer (Shari) when I called to complain that I shouldn't question a professional groomer and that my dog was very "difficult"....my dog is very mild mannered as most golden retrievers are and very submissive....Aren't groomers trained to deal with all types of dogs?...she couldn't answer me when I asked why she didn't call me if my dog was such a problem...instead she buzz cut her hair off!!!!.....others need to be warned about this groomer!

Shari's been great to my two dogs. Don't let one person's bad experience turn you away from barkingham palace
Shari don't fret, we've all been there.
Chances are if they didn't know enough to feel the matts and bring the dog in sooner, they don't have the sense to realize what you have to do to get them out.
I'm always surprised about the filthy, matted smelly conditions the dogs come in as but the clean ( maybe less hair ) animals that leave are ALWAYS worse off.
Makes you wonder how their house smells. No wonder they go ape *** when you remove the stench from their enviroment.
I dont care for Barkingham Palace either. Shari may have the dogs in and out, but she definitly does not do a quality job.
Everytime my dog came home from her shop I could tell the job was rushed because of how choppy it looked. I would not go back to her.
Anyone interested in seeing the pictures of my dog the day before she was groomed at Barkingham Palace in Metuchen, N.J by Shari and the "after" pictures taken the day she was groomed are more than welcome....contact me at eggypan @***.com....groomers like Shari who have NEVER been professionally trained and truly believe they never make mistakes are to be avoided by anyone who loves their pet!!!...an active boycott of this groomer is in progress!!
I've known Shari for years and I even worked for her. She's an AMAZING groomer and the sweetest woman you could ever meet.
She cares more for the pets well being than anything and if you can't keep your dog properly maintained between groomings, you are a totally irresponsible owner and a *** and should not own a pet. Don't blame an awesome professional (who is btw, professionally trained) for your short comings as a *** owner.
The owner forgets to add that her dog was matted beyond belief. It was to the point that it could be considered abusive and neglectful.
I have never seen a golden with such terrible matts. They were larger than softballs on both the tail and butt. They were impossible to demat and are extremely painful to the dog if left on. I was forced to shave them off for the dogs well being.
If a dog is combed and groomed on a regular basis, situations like these can be avoided.
I think it is very sas that this owner feels the look of the dog is more important that how much pain the dog is in. People like this do not deserve to have pets!
