It WORKS! Great product from a humble business with a genuine love and care for horses and their health.

This is an excellent well made problem that actually works short and long term. Its durable and safe to use and I 100% reccomend it to anyone with a windsucker who wants the cribbing to stop permanently and watch horse thrive.thrive. Ignore the negative reviews as I can only assume small minority in relation to those that are satisfied but dont post review.

Peed off

purchased the barclay collar , the more expensive one worked fine to be quite honest up until 4 weeks when the webbing broke on one side we repaired this ourselves then the other side again repaired that then the component that gives the shock started falling to bits , i phoned the seller who said he has never had any issues with the webbing breaking but looking through the reviews there has been a few so he is a liar after struggling to understand him and not getting anywhere i emailed him but guess what , no answer all i wanted was a little bit of le way perhaps a discount on another one as ours was faulty but no he is arrogant does not want to know and unless you want to fork out over 200 dollars every 3-4 months avoid this product and him like the plague

Not appropriate for habitual windsuckers

Worked like a miracle for a few days. Thought my problems were solved for good. About a week in we started to notice the horse sucking again. It didn't seem to be receiving a shock. But then sometimes it did. Eventually the plastic broke and the clicker lost its "zap" and now the horse just windsucks all day again. Will not work on a persistent windsucker I am sorry to advise.

The real miracle collar

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This collar works instantly, I just bought a horse from the sales and unfortunately found out it wind sucked after a few hours. I got online but didn’t like the idea of all the leather collars that practically choke your horse. With more research I found the Barclay’s collar, upon receiving it my horse stop sucking in 3 sucks. The first time she tried she just let go of the fence with a little bit of confusion, the second time she did it shook her head and stood for a few minutes. Then she tried for the last time with reluctance and with the same little shock she turned and faced away from the post and I’ve just been able to take it of after a few months and because she is a young horse she has broke the habit and not tried to wind suck since. I cannot speak highly enough of this product, it’s not cruel I even tested it on myself and it’s just a little shock it does not hurt or even sting.

Barclay Collar Does Not Work

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have a several tried several emails to the company about the Barclay Collar. I purchased the more expensive one and when I received it I had just lost my job and put my horse in pasture. 8 months later I got a job and brought back my horse. So I started to use my extremely expensive Barclay collar and it didn't work. (I should of tried it when I first got it but was stupid and never did.) Anyway spoke with Rick ( who is difficult to understand as he is a bit harsh) and he kept telling me how to use it. Well I said ok I will give it another try. Well the collar worked very poorly for two days. The shock effect was hardly none. No effect at all. I emailed to ask for help, no response. I am very sorry that they have a great concept but the product is a piece of *** Don't buy one.

NSW Civil & Administrative Appeals Tribunal findings

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
A reminder to everyone. Don't ever *** my wonderful wife off! We have just come back from the NSW Civil & Administrative Appeals Tribunal where we sought an order against one Barclay's Anti-Cribbing Collar. Basically we purchased the collar to try to stop our Thoroughbred gelding from Cribbing (Wind Sucking). The collar is supposed to issue a slight electronic zap when he cribs to stop him. First the thing started falling apart from the word go. It also never did anything to stop him (Barclays say clearly on their website that it doesn't work on all horses). After several almost illegible phone conversations where he told US to make modifications "agh just stick a bit of electrical tape on it..... etc" we sent it back at our expense so HE could make modifications. (We did not want to invalidate the warranty by doing anything ourselves). It came back to us with elastic bands, bits of wire hanging off it and lots of duct tape! Of course it still didn't work and after a total of 6 x 1hr attempts it again started falling apart. So we told him we wanted a refund. He informed us it was now out of warranty but if we sent it back he would "have another go at it", we insisted on a refund but he insisted WE RETURN the collar first (yeah we came down in the last shower....) so off we went to the Tribunal. Barclay never responded to the notice from the Tribunal and did not appear by phone (he is in Victoria) to argue the case for his product (he really had no legal basis to fight anyway after my wife did the legal research and nailed it brilliantly) and the Tribunal gave the decision to us citing that the product is defective and does not work. For information of our fellow Equestrian people. Pass the word folks! PS to this date Rick Barclay has never paid us the refund AS ORDERED BY THE TRIBUNAL.

Barclays Anti-Cribbing Collar Review

Bought the Barclay cribbing collar online for $150. It worked great for less then a month, the cheap plastic materials broke and the strap (made out of thin cheap nylon) couldn't hold up, also quit shocking. Absolute GARBAGE, don't waste your money! This company won't return emails or replace the collar.

Barclays Anti-cribbing collar for horses

I have a cribber and saw an ad for this anti-cribbing collar in a horse magazine. I was willing to try this collar because it was different and used a mild static shock to deter the horse from cribbing. I paid $210 for the aluminum “wings” after reading a review on this website for the collar that said the plastic wings had broken. $210 is expensive but was willingly to pay for it if it stopped my horse. It is an Australian company but had a US representative in Las Vegas that sent me the collar. The collar has a 30 days money back guarantee. Possible buyers BEWARE! Please continue reading below. The collar was on my horse for 12 days the first time and after 12 days it stopped delivering a shock. I sent it back to the US rep (the company is Australian) and she in replied that the collar was working correctly but I need to apply the wire modification. So I did that and it worked 80% of the time for about a week. After a week, I checked and the collar was no longer producing the mild shock. There is a cheap switch that creates the mild static charge and this switch had failed on my collar. I could depress the switch 20-30 times and would only feel a shock once or twice during those 20-30 times. At this point, the owner Rick called me from Australia and after a long discussion finally agreed to send me a new collar. (He was very reluctant to do so) The new collar arrived about five days later and again 10 days (to the day!!) the collar would no longer “click” when my horse cribbed. This will happen if you have fitted the collar too tightly but the collar was loose and fitted correctly. I took the collar off and depressed the switch but nothing would happen. The switch AGAIN had failed within 10 days of my horse wearing the collar. It no longer worked!! My horse is not hard on things, has never destroyed a blanket, fly mask or fly sheet. I called Australia and talked to Rick and during our entire conversation he blamed me and my horse. Stating that the habit of cribbing should have been broken within three shocks and that I probably fitted the collar too tight which is why the switch had broken. I asked for a full refund. Here are the exact emails that Rick and the rep in Las Vegas had about my collar and ultimately blaming me for his collar failure: Tami (Las Vegas rep) - “Hi Rick, I received the collar back. The boot looks good and I can click it with my fingers pushing on the bottom of the boot, but it’s hard to click the regular way and sometimes it won’t click at all. I don’t know what happened, it was in great shape when I sent it.” Rick (Owner) “Hello Tami, Even if the boot is ok, the switch is not, and the boot would also have been ruined if ___ (me) had left the collar on the horse for any longer. This happens when the collar has been fitted incorrectly, (too tight.) We are better off just refunding ____ (me), just too sure how much we should refund her!! Tami (Las Vegas rep) - “Yes I agree. Her last email to me stated she was expecting a full refund…??” I did not receive a full refund and “due to the circumstances” is what Rick stated. What circumstances what that? HORRIBLE customer service and POOR, POOR quality of materials. DO NOT BUY THIS COLLAR!! BEWARE!! DO NOT BUY THIS COLLAR! My horse wore the collar for less than 30 days at a time (THREE different times) and did not receive a full refund as advertised. I was blamed for the collar’s failure and only received a partial refund. I paid for the collar is USD and received a refund in AUD. I paid $210 for the collar and only received $142.31 back. This company is HORRIBLE!! DO NOT BUY THIS COLLAR!!

I got my collar and put it on my boy yesterday .I was not woken once last night by his windsucking .thankyou barclays no more sleepless nights and a happier healthier horse

I didn't have a problem with mine or the service

I wish we had read this. We had the same and worse issues with this collar.

We not only had the same problems and arguments (and their denials and blaming) but the collar started falling apart form the word go and even after we sent it back (at our expense) it came back all stuck together with elastic bands, duct tape (they seem to like duct tape) and extra wires attached that fell off as soon as we put it on the horse. At no time did it stop cribbing, it then started not clicking no matter how it was fitted (they blamed the horses neck shape but it was the same horse and it did initially click with no reaction from the horse. The NSW Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal has now ruled in our favour after he would not issue a refund unless we sent the collar back.

The Tribunal has ruled that the collar does not work and is defective. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOT!

I bought the same thing from the gal in Las Vegas. It fell apart and the shocker stopped working.

No response on returning it. I used it 10 times. Don't bother. Its a waste.

Good idea.

Bad product.

Hello staceyhorselover, if your Barclays Collar "fell apart" you would have been entitled to a replacement. Did you ever contact Barclays Collar, and if so when?

You say you used it "10 times", so do you mean that you had the Collar on your horse for 10 days? If not, can you explain what 10 times is? You stated that the shocker "stopped working", did you try to contact either Tami in Las Vegas or Barclays Collar directly? Most USA Customers who have any sought of problems with the Collar, contact either Tami or Barclays Collar directly, and if required are entitled to a refund less S&H costs, when the Collar is returned, and is within 30 days of purchasing.

Barclays Collar is a "great idea", it is the only cribbing collar that does "break the habit". Some people do not follow the instructions, they fit Barclays Collar like they fit any other cribbing collar or strap, which is TIGHT AS POSSIBLE. Barclays Collar will not function when fitted TIGHTLY, and will result in the "piezo switch" or "shocker" not shocking.

A good example for fitting the

Barclays Collar is like we would fit a neck tie, and the fitting is correct when the Collar clicks/shocks every time the horse Cribs. Then if the horse has not responded after 5 0r 6 clicks/shocks from the Collar, which will be in the 1st hour or so of fitting, the wire modification that is fitted into the Collar should be applied.

I bought the 'original Barclays collar' the one thats red and not aluminum. Mine worked for about 6 months.

My mare wore right through the clicker, the wiring completely fell off. I bought it used for $99 from the same Las Vagas lady, Rep from the AUS company. Of course after 6 months I can request a refund, and the replacement parts cost, are limited. I'm not sure this collar is fixable for the worth cost.

I think this idea can definitely be improved. I'd love to see a market for this type of product in the US.

This summer I might play around with the design and engineer up something different that works better. My 2 mares are chronic cribbers.

and This really broke the habit for a short time.

Barclays Collar RUBBISH DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was a authorised seller for this collar - dont waste your time or money, its backyard technology with backyard components. The collar worked after modifying as directed by Rick Barclay, after 2 days it stopped, found the modification wire was zip tied to make contact which wasnt and after another day it simply stopped working, Rick tried to blame me said i wasnt doing it properly, after giving up and not advertising anymore i requested that 2 metal collar (which i had purchased to resell) be replaced with the plastic one, he agreed, he then sent back the same collars modified with hinges, see photos, at the end he was just a very rude abusive old man, he then stopped answering his phone and a lady started to reply to the emails, after Rick said he would give a refund, i received a letter and the old collars back for the third time, in the mean time i paid for all the postage including the ones they sent back. Bottom line watch you tube and make your own collars, Barclays Collars are absolute rubbish and will not last.

I had a plastic collar which seemed to work a lot better than the more expensive one with aluminium, I can't get the latest one to work at all but assumed the horse had found the way around it, perhaps the cheaper plastic option is better?

Barclays Collar STAY AWAY

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The device is brilliant, WHEN IT WORKS, after 3 days the zapper stopped, when it was replaced same thing, the man Rick Barclay is a rude arrogant and a disgrace to the real Aussie is not worth talking to, unless you are buying one off him. DO NOT BUY ONE OF HIS COLLARS, you have been warned, the idea is brilliant the workman ship is a back yard job, just watch his you tube and make one up, also the V design of the device with a single collar is not very safe as it eventually slides down and tightens causing it to go off when the horse is eating, he will be exposed very shortly to the media.

Horse learned work-around!

I fiddled with this thing for 3 mos before I gave up. Did all the modifications to get my mare shocked, but she learned to extend her neck to crib rather than arch it, so there was no way to trigger it.

I'm wondering if I have the only smart horse on the planet, or if others have had this happen?

This horse had also taught herself to crib, no one else on the farm ever did and they had a lot of freedom on 70 acres.

I always thought her mom was inadequate & left filly hungry.

We recently moved from Oregon to Maine, and guess what I left hanging in my old barn! KE

Yes i received collar, it was very poorly packed just put in a plastic post bag with no bubble wrap. I found it worked for a about a week, then i noticed my horse had worked out to stretch his neck.

Guess what it doesnt click when they stretch there neck.

Also i am concerned about the wires, they seem very flimsy. Anyway i feel i have wasted 157.00 as the horse has managed to rub the latch apart and lose the collar.

Meleana Ydp

Yes I had the same issue in Australia that the horse now rocks back and extends neck while cribbing so that she doesn't activate the collar. Worked really well for about 2 weeks but then she found the work around. I guess it tells you how motivated they are to crib.

Makynlee Epd

I had the same issue along with collar twisting, zapper not working and a terrible rude seller, Rick Barclay himself, this idea has prospects in proper hands, not this backyard supplier
