I have attempted to contact guest experience managers ant the resort and customer service at the Barcelo group, but I have had no response from either.
And was just informed that because of nudist group arriving tomorrow I must vacate the premises at 15:00 and this less than 24 hours before checkout . I have contacted Barcelo group as well as resetting long before my arrival making the arrangements because I knew I was leaving hotel lte as I have a late flight home .
Even upon check in last week I restated my late departure , not a problem you will be able to use the amenities , we will care for your luggage and you can shower at the spa . I have private transportation that was ridiculously expensive and at this late date cannot be changed . I am offered no alternatives , like the use of next door Barcelo Group resort , no help, no compensation , nothing , just *** at 3pm . If nothing is done , I will use every social media platform available to let people know what kind of cut knee device experience to expect .
I am appalled at the callousness , short sightedness , lack of professionalism, lack of even decent forget good customer service.
The sheer lack of integrity , values , humanity is deplorable .
The last two days of my vacation have been utterly ruined .
I am disgusted with the disrespect and mistreatment .
I have attempted contact with the hotel guest services, with Barcelo Group customer service and criquets is the response. This is how they value their repeat customers.

Preferred solution: An alternative to standing out on the street with my luggage for 4 hours waiting for my airport transfer . The resort next door is also of the Barcelo group, allow us to use those facilities for a few hours until we leave for the airport.

Por este medio nos comunicamos con usted para comentarle hechos, impresiones y recomendaciones sobre nuestra reciente visita al hotel occidental papagayo, del 21 al 28 de Julio.
Al final de esta carta les dejaré nuestros nombres y números de habitaciones.
Somos tres parejas, vivimos en Miami y vacacionamos varias veces al año a diferentes destinos, lo mismo a resorts que a cruceros por lo que tenemos experiencia y conocimiento para comparar. La verdad es que nos sentimos decepcionados con respecto a nuestra estancia y aquí le dejamos nuestras impresiones
1- Lo venden como 5 estrellas y no lo es.
2- la variedad de bebidas y comida es muy escasa y de muy poca calidad.
No hay diversidad ni en las bebidas ni en las comidas, básicamente toda la semana ofrecieron lo mismo. Teníamos mucha espectativa de encontrar muchas frutas y no fue así.
3- El servicio no es bueno, a pesar de que la mayoría de los trabajadores se esfuerzan por darlo.
4- En las habitaciones no ponen suficiente toallas, hay que estar constantemente llamando para pedir y las chicas alegan que no tienen más.
La limpieza es cuestionable pues el olor a humedad nunca se fue.
Y se tardan en venir tanto a limpiar como a hacer la habitación.
El minibar no lo surten cada día a no ser que llames a pedirlo y aún así algún día no nos pusieron nada más
En alguna ocasión no hubo agua caliente en la ducha.
4- la limpieza en las piscinas no es buena.
Durante toda la semana el borde de las piscinas tuvo el mismo mugre.
5- Las actividades recreativas son casi nulas, es el primer resort que visitamos donde no hacen shows, no tienen un teatro, solo el sábado hicieron una actividad recreativa en la piscina, cuando eso en el resto de los hoteles es diario .
6- Nosotros llevamos un speaker de mano muy pequeño y uno de los bartender de la piscina cerca de la playa nos inquirio en forma inapropiada para que no lo usáramos, por eso pedimos que llamara al gerente o manager y nos dijeron que no había nadie que nos pudiera atender .
7- la última noche llovió bastante y en una de nuestras 3 habitaciones, la 202,se inundó completamente desde las 1am y se llamó para que limpiaran o los cambiaran de habitación en 3 ocasiones y por nadie vino, dijeron que vendrían a las 6am luego a las 7am y así consecutivamente hasta que nos llegó la hora del checkout y nunca llegaron, no fueron otras opciones como poder pasar la noche en otra habitación y como consecuencia de esto no pudieron dormir y se enfermaron con falta de aire y la presión alta por la incomodidad.
Cuándo pedimos hablar con gerente, manager o alguien responsable dijeron que el gerente general no trabajaba los domingos y que el le cubría entraba en la tarde y solo si fuera algo grave es que se comunicaban con el. Es decir que lo que nos sucedió era intrascendente y no ameritaba que nos prestaran atención.
No obstante hicimos reporte del que tenemos copia y si gustan tenemos videos de cómo estaba esa habitación de inundada, la chica del housekeeping también lo grabó.
8- No tienen servicios de maleteros ni para el checking ni para el checkout, no tienen servicio en la playa, ni en la piscina de camareros que le traen las bebidas a los huéspedes, lo mismo con las toallas, al parecer no tienen suficiente porque escasean.
En general es la peor experiencia que hemos tenido , es una lastima porque el hotel tiene buena ubicación, es bonito , el personal en general es muy amable , pero necesita mantenimiento, los servicios sanitarios son muy viejos y la mayoría están manchados, las habitaciones tienen muy poca iluminación, no ponen crema corporal y la limpieza de los pasillos de los edificios es cuestionable, los insectos muertos se mantenían en las escaleras durante varios días.
Nosotros conocemos la calidad de los Barceló, Bahía Príncipe, Babaro, Riu, entre otros, en República Dominicana, México, Jamaica etc y en nada se parece al servicio que hemos recibido aquí.
No obstante queremos reconocer el buen trabajo de algunos trabajadores que les pedimos sus nombres

Emailed them multiple times but I haven't received the money back
They asked credit card information to make the reservation. Next I got an email with confirmation with charges in USD. Called them and after about an hour going back and forth with different people and asking an explanation just to be told that ALL hotels in Guatemala charge in USD and that my reservation was not allow cancellation to which I was not informed. Finally Ivania Arias agreed to approved my cancellation and refund.
As of today they never refunded the money which is 1700 USD for something that I cancelled in less than 24 hours and didn't use either because Ivania told me that the credit was going to take few days. And of course they don't asnwer my emails.

I recently stayed at Royal Hideaway with my husband, 3 adult children, and my 80 year old mother-in-law.
Our first stay was 16 years ago when we loved it so must we purchased a timeshare with Occidental. There are so many wonderful things about this hotel. The staff and guests are wonderful, making it easy to have a fun time. The main issue we had (along with almost every other guests we spoke with) was the A/C not working properly.
Most rooms were uncomfortably hot. Azia one night was so hot (particularly when you are asking men to wear long pants) we almost had to leave. Also, my mother-in-laws room was a mess when she arrived (bed stripped, puddles of water on floor, trash still in room). We heard this was a common issue among many of the guests.
There seems to be a lot of plumbing issues (leaks creating slippery and dangerous situations), no hot water, no water at all, etc.) Also, many of the rooms smell of mildew. I know the staff was trying their best, but it seems that they do not have enough functional rooms to put all the guests in. They are sadly fielding a lot of complaints that they have no resources to handle. While there, my husband and I renewed our vows.
This was very stressful and chaotic experience to the point we almost did not go thru with it. Again, it seems that Barcelo is just not investing enough in proper staff training. They are having to try to come up with their own processes and protocols. I know they are trying their best.
Although the hotel superficially looks beautiful, it definitely needs some updating. Indoor and outdoor furniture is worn with cushions often missing from chairs. I do not believe anything has been updated since we were there 16 years ago. We would love to go back because it was one of our absolute favorite hotels in such a beautiful location.
However, I would not so until I know these issues have been resolved and there are at the very least rooms that are comfortable to stay in. I sincerely hope you take this information into consideration, and we hope to hear that Barcelo is addressing these issues as quickly as possible.

Preferred solution: I would like to see Barcelo fix the issues in this hotel so that we may feel comfortable staying there again. There was also much of our time wasted before and during our stay on issues that could have been avoided.
