Verified ReviewerA collection on a closed account
- Account hacked; bank closed it and opened a new one.
- A $100 check was returned; it's in collection and may cost $350 or lead to a warrant.
My account was hacked, so they closed that account and opened me a new account. Then when a check went to the bank, they returned the check, saying the account was closed.
Now the payee turned it over for collection to the District Attorney's office, and now a $100 check is going to cost me $350. If I don't pay the $350, they're going to put a warrant out for my arrest for something I had no control over. But the bank sure did, and they've done absolutely nothing, not even as much as an apology. This is not the first time I had to have a new account.
They sent $900 to the Philippines without my consent. So again, they had to open me a new account.
I'm seriously thinking about changing banks. I shouldn't have to pay $350 or go to jail for something I had no control over.

There is way more to your story. Checks bounce daily and no payee goes immediately to the courthouse for resolution.
That’s time and money. You got hacked because you are sloppy with your banking information.
That falls on you. Also, when you reported the issue, you should have verified any checks you had that we’re still out and alerted the bank.
Your fairy tale is full of holes.
