Baileys Furniture
Horrible horrible
I purchased a 3 set leather couch, love seat and recliner. With the exception of the recliner, all the recline cables broke, the seat springs broke, the recliner mechanics bent and were beaten back into alignment probably 20 times. I'm 205 lbs and kids don't jump on the furniture. I re screwed and glued the broken plywood and am fixing to weld the last remaining recliner parts. I paid top dollar in 2011 and will NEVER buy any bailey's *** ever again. The leather has held up perfectly, but the framing is shoddy.
Sincerely unsatisfide and ripped off,
E Hering

Baileys Furniture
I will never shop at Baileys again. After just purchasing a new home a couple weeks ago, the very first piece of furniture I bought was a bench at Bailey's.
They told me it was a clearance item, and they only had 1 in Soldotna that they'd transfer, and it would need assembly. When the product arrived after 2 weeks, I was unable to complete assembly due to manufacturer's defects. Bailey's offered to construct the item for me, which they weren't able to do due to the defects. At that point, I offered that I would be willing to take the floor model, but at a discount - bottom line was that I wanted to leave with a bench that I had paid for 2 weeks previously.
I was told they had 10 more pieces in Soldotna, and I could wait 2 more weeks for a transfer, but that they'd assemble it. This was not a satisfactory solution, as I was not willing to wait 4 weeks. I again countered that I was willing to take their floor model at a discount. Bailey's told me they don't offer military discounts, senior discounts, or discounts on clearance/damaged goods due to their slim profit margin - (please note, they have a clearance center, with discounted floor models that are clearance or damaged).
I informed them that this was not a satisfactory solution, and that I had a houseful of furniture to purchase.
They stood firm in their dis-service to me.
I subsequently left Baileys yesterday, and spent $5000 at other companies, about 1/2 of the purchases I plan to make. Too bad Baileys, that $400 bench and your poor customer dis-service just cost you thousands in my own purchases, and a lifetime of bad reviews from me.
Bailey's Furniture in Alaska Ripoff Customers
I purchased the most expensive mattress at Bailey's Sleep Gallery store in Wasilla. It was delivered and I discovered that the mattress was thicker on the left side than the right.
(It was a memory foam-style mattress). I called them immediately, and they said they wouldn't take it back. Fine print on receipt says "Returns on accepted items only (meaning they don't have to accept any returns), and it also said "No refunds" which means once they have your money, you're screwed.
Instead, they offered to put me in touch with the manufacturere (how generous of them!). All I wanted was for them to stand behind their product and do the right thing by either exchanging the mattress for a non-defective one, or refund my money.
They did neither. I complained to my credit card company, who found them in non-compiance with "federal standards" and the credit card company pulled the money out of their account and gave the funds back to me.
Baileys then sicked a collections agency on me, which promptly served me with court papers to sue me for the cost of the mattress, plus any court fees, plus attourney fees.
Rather than go all through that for a FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLAR mattress set, I paid the collection agency (inluding their fees). Baileys fine print was structured to ensure I would not win in a court case.
How about that for a so-called upstanding merchant? It burns me up that they even advertise on a Christian radio station. THE NERVE! That's what I get for trying to do business with a local merchant, rather than a box store.
I wound-up donating the un-slept on, defective mattress set to the Salvation Army Thrift Store, and bought a much superior mattress set at COSTCO.
By the way, every other store in Anchorage Alaska that sells mattresses offers a money-back guarantee.
I'm shocked that Baileys is still in business. They do a LOT of TV and radio advertising, so unwitting consumers assume that they must me upstanding merchants and would do business like every other store selling mattresses here.
