Complaints

This hotel in Fort Lauderdale is charging me $1500 for damage to a room that was no fault of my own. I was in the bathroom and I slipped on the floor and hit the back of the toilet and broke the porcelin lid on the back of the toilet. I had to go to the ER and get 5 staples on my upper right arm because of deep cut. I would like a refund because it wasn't my fault and I ended up in the hospital

Horrible experience!!! This place has completely gone downhill!!!

Ive been coming to this hotel since 1989! Since its become The B Hotel & Spa, its been in a downward spiral. This visit took the cake- it will be my last. Our room wasnt ready when we arrived for check-in- said to come back in 30 minutes. 90 minutes later, I came back and was given a room in the 7th floor. When I told him we reserved a room on the ground floor, overlooking the pool, they said they didnt have the room I reserved on the ground floor- there were no ground floor rooms available. So I just stood there looking at them and they found a room- not on pool side as requested- but parking lot side, with no chairs on tiny concrete slab of a patio. Next- mini fridge didnt work (probably why they werent renting the room). There were no working ones to offer- the maintenance man said Ive room had no fridge and there was t one to even put in there. The phone didnt work, either. Then, I went to get ice and the ice bucket lid was filthy and covered in rust. This led to my 3rd conversation with the manager, in a 25 minute timeframe. She was appalled and went to track down a cleaner ice bucket and brought it back to the front desk with ice. What absolutely took the cake was the blood spots, dried fluids and all kinds of various dirty spots I found on the comforter when re-making my bed at about midnight the night before we left. I took pictures but cant find a way to send an email to corporate anywhere on their website. While the staff were all very friendly and did their best to be accommodating, but the place is so run down and dirty that it doesnt make up for it. A few FYIs: 1) The shuttle doesnt run to Disney Springs anymore, even though its a Disney Springs hotel. The person who checked us in said we should just walk the 1.25 miles to get there and call a cab if we get tired coming back. 2) If you order anything to your room (Uber Eats), it is not allowed to be brought to your room. So, I went to the front desk in my pajamas to get my Starbucks coffee 3) The resort fees and parking fees are PER PERSON. So we paid two resort fees (for both days) and two parking fees (for both days). Not mentioned when booking the room. This was not just a disappointing experience for me, but heartbreaking as this is the only hotel Ive stayed at in Orlando for over 30 years and that was my last stay

I understand with the covid-19 there was no housekeeping but. they should come by your room and check and see if you need your garbage taken out not we have to come down to the front desk they took money off off my card on a daily basis. the restaurant in near the food was not great the service was slow. for my first time to Florida this was.. this trip. let down. for the money that I'm spending this extra causes that was not told to us this crazy.

Renovations?

To start, Great room. The room was very modern with all the amenities, minus the as advertised premium cable channels (which is no big deal considering we came to see Savannah and not the television). Prior to our visit we researched area and found B Historic to have the best rates, which are very reasonable for the season; however, the hotel is undergoing a major renovation and despite being on the 5th floor we are able to hear noise throughout the entire day. Parking is a $12 charge per day. This is not a big surprise having visited many hotels in historic areas where parking is scarce. The hotel itself is sub-par. It is in a semi-good area (in the middle of the historic district). It is about a 15 minute walk to River Street and 5 minute walk to Forseth Park. However, you are on the outskirt of town on a main road. When we arrived - around 12 in the afternoon - the staff let us check in early. They were very nice and courteous. However, the floors of the room appeared dirty and the bathroom was unclean. The experience went downhill from there. The second-shift front desk assistant was very brash and rude. Apart from her duties as the front desk concierge she seemed to not want to be there. With all of the aforementioned comments, I would not stay at B Historic. At least not at this moment. As mentioned, the hotel is undergoing severe renovations and it is not worth the time and premium price point.

Banana Bay - Room Booking Review from Fort Lauderdale, Florida

We arrived at 2:30 pm to the resort (we were early) and were told our room was not ready so we waited by the pool. At 3:00 pm we went back to check and we're told "I'm sorry but they triple booked you" "we have 3 people over booked" of course they blamed it on the agency we booked with. Naturally we called the agency who in turn said it was the "resorts fault" nothing was resolved. Luckily (I think) We found a room at Sombrero beach. Initially I wasn't feeling it. It had no beach and the view was not too impressive. However the hotel was accommodating and booked us a king room for 170 Banana Bay was charging 200. Let's see how it goes....
