Like to, sold a junk vehicle, refusal to honor promises

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My name is Andre Pray last year I made the mistake of buying a vehicle from Autonation USA 104. The truck was a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500hd 4x4 6.6 duramax diesel.

The truck had 104,000 miles on it. I was informed it had one owner they may have told me about it being wrecked. After I signed the paperwork on the truck. Im writing you today because they completely ruined my first time car buying experience.

After post on apps like next door and posting a review on Google, ripping people off is common practice for them. In my case and a few others that I saw from reviews and comments from my post, if there is an issue with the vehicle they promise to fix it until the loan goes through with the bank. Followed by telling you they never said that and no notes are in the system about this. For starters I let them know I have never financed a vehicle, hoping for some kinda first time buyers program or making sure we werent trying to get a loan on something that would never get approved .This turned out to be my biggest mistake.

The truck itself is modified. It was a 6 inch lift kit, a larger fuel cell, cold air intake and a resonator delete that Im aware of. I took the truck on a test drive and the salesman ( whos name I would have to look up) refused to let me take it on the highway. This should of been my sign to take it back and run for the heels, but as the salesman said.

It my be $8,000 over blue book value, but!!! You know your getting a quality vehicle because its from Autonation and we put all our vehicles through a rigorous 200 point inspection. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The salesman directed me to a road that we could hit highway speeds.

The roads speed limit was 40 mph. So I may have got to accelerate rather quickly, but I had no choice but to take my foot off the gas at 50mph. Im not going to risk peoples life to test out a truck, as the truck did pull hard to one side or the other. This will come into play shortly.

I came to Autonation thinking what the sales men was something I already knew. Theres a lot of desperate people out there who are willing to sell you a junker to feed there family. Didnt think Autonation was a place I had to worry about that happening. When we got back I was assured that the wheel pulling was just a simple alignment issue.

When we returned I was ready to go ahead and apply for a loan, its hard to find a turbo diesel with low miles and decides to dents the truck was is great shape. This is where things went bad and have continued to get worse as time goes on. The salesmans tactic was to get me to call for car insurance and then force paperwork down my throat and wouldnt take wait until Im on the phone for a answer. I was told they were even throwing in gap insurance and a warranty.

Awesome! Right? No. They left out and its my fault for being pressured into just signing and letting him explain while I was on the phone.

The gap coverage wasnt free as stated and neither was the warranty. Im ok with the gap coverage as it turned out to only cost $300. The warranty on the other hand cost me $4,901 for the most basic coverage. After talking to Vertias global protection today, I learned that they charged me the same price for there top of the line premier warranty coverage for there bottom of the line power train coverage.

Keep in mind I was told this was being thrown in, as in free. It gets worse. My truck is at the GMC dealership to have the motor and transmission checked out. I called Vertias to ask about there rental car reimbursement.

I went into detail about my truck and alll the problems Ive had with it, which I will circle back too. After telling the agent about the motor thats in my truck and the modifications I bought it with. I was informed that they will automatically deny any claims on it. Autonation did not divulge that turbo diesel motor in the truck or the lift kit or the rest of the mods.

The warranty copy thinks my truck is a bone stock gas truck with no turbo, no lift, no mods. I was told to call autonation, who btw since the day I bought that truck will not return my phone calls or emails. I literally have to show up at the dealership to even talk to anyone, which I will go my into depth about later. Autonations corporate office is trying to point the finger at the warranty company and told me they will see what they can do.

Back to buying the truck. I was not informed that I was paying for the warranty or that there was options for it. It would of been easy to read had I been allotted a chance to read what I was signing instead of trying to talk with a car insurance agent while being force fed paperwork against my wishes. I drove the truck home and parked if for about the next week and a half, as I drive my work truck home at the time and work 6 to 7 days a week.

When I did start to notice problems with the electrical the first time I drove it the salesman I bought the car from told me thats my problem and thats what happens when you buy a used vehicle. Lovely. The following week I put tires on it.I instantly realized why I wasnt allowed to take the truck on the highway for the test drive. You could hear the front tires rubbing hard against the ground and it was almost impossible to control the truck.

My co worker who took me to pick it up from the tire shop even called me as we were driving back to my house to tell me my truck was crab walking bad. I of course made several calls to the dealership demanding to speak to the manager who wouldnt come to the phone or call me back. I had no choice to take it to the shop myself or injure myself or a stranger driving it. $1500 later I was on the road again.

I had to drive up there and wait about a hour to speak with Ian the general manager ( the ring leader ). He had the nerve to ask my why I didnt call them and let them fix it instead of taking it to the shop. Ian was able to calm me down with promises of reimbursement for have the front end worked on and would have the truck sent to autonation Chevy to have everything else fixed. Lies lies and more lies.

I was never paid back for the work done to the front end. I even offered to cover $160.00 that would of paid for the alignment as I did agree to have the truck aligned when I bought it. As I was told thats all thats wrong with the front end. Autonation Chevy only addressed the issue with my driver seat and the part was on back order for 6 months.

The guy I dealt with at Autonation Chevy told me that Ian only told them to address the seat nothing else. Told me he was the service manager at Autonation USA but transferred to there Chevy store because what they did to me was common practice at USA 104 , they knew that front end was destroyed and couldnt get the alignment anywhere near right and lied to my face and on the inspection. Told me not to worry when the seat part came in he would make sure the rest of the electrical issues would be addressed. 6 months later the part arrived and the gentleman I built such a good relationship with was no longer with Autonation.

There were no notes in the system about anything that was supposed to be fixed besides my seat. At this point I called corporate for the second time. Ian had the nerve to call me and tell me they never said anything about paying me back for the front end and never promised to fix anything but my seat. To date I had to replace every last part that deals with steering on that truck.

I continue to have electrical problems with it. I only put 11,000 miles on the truck. It seems the transmission is going and the motor has a knock to it and has a power loss issue. It seems unless autonation is held accountable for the bad business they have done with me and so many others.

They will just continue to possibly ruin peoples lives. I spent 32k in total on my loan for this truck. I didnt want to buy someones problem so I went to autonation and that was the worst mistake I ever made. It seems like this truck will continue to leach money out of me and soon leave me without a vehicle.

In a time where repos are at national high and so is interest. Ive always told autonation I just want what I was promised nothing more nothing less. Im sure as time goes by Ill undercover more about autonation and this truck. Theres so much more detail to this story.

I wouldnt wish autonation on my worst enemy. With such a reputable name who knows how many people have had the same life altering treatment as me or worse. I know without your help , myself and so many others will be left in debt or without a vehicle so a few people can make a buck. In no way should the consumer be stuck with a vehicle that should of never been sold as a certified quality vehicle.

Its not our fault they bought a bad vehicle and they dont want to put money into it to make it sell able. Lying about inspections and throwing stuff in that your paying thousands for that isnt even any good isnt ethical. In my case the worst part was being purposely taken advantage of because Im a first time buyer. They are smart enough to make it almost impossible to communicate about any issues via text, phone, or emails.

I cant win being honest or trying to do the right thing. Im currently on leave due to a work related injury, so Im on a fixed income. With no idea what my future looks like. I cant afford much more losses with this truck below are pictures on the first page of my warranty and my post on next door and people with similar storys.

If you look at autonation USA 104s reviews on Google there are similar stories, if they havent been removed. I will also include one of two bills for the front end on this truck. Ian at Autonation 104 has the first one, the one he promised to pay me back for.

I also have all the paperwork I signed for the truck. Being a honest hard working person is getting me no where.

Preferred solution: Paid back for steering parts. Warranty fixed and changed to premier like I paid for. Reimbursed for fixing electrical, both seats and pedal controls

User's recommendation: Don’t shop at autonation. Get everything in writing. Don’t let them force you to sign papers and let them explain what you’re signing while on the phone. Always take vehicle to a third party to be inspected

I wasted 4901.00 on a warranty thats completely worthless. They should be criminally charged for the way they do business.

Absolutely NOTHING has been by the dealership to resolve this.

Original review Oct 02, 2023
I bought a truck on 8/11/23, today is Oct. 2, 2023.

It took a few calls to get them to send paperwork to MVD. I went to register the truck and Motor Vehicle will not register because Autonation put the wrong vehicle description in the paperwork. I am paying for a vehicle that I cannot register. I have called Corporate 4 times and I am still waiting to find out what is going on.

I want my trade in vehicle back but again, no response. I put down money and made payments and cannot get it registered. I am so angry I can't even go on.
They do not deserve a star
I called Autonation 3 times since I first wrote this. Twice I was told they would go directly to finance and tell Tommy Smith I was on the phone.

Didnt happen. Then I left a voicemail for the General Manager, Darin, he has not called me.

I dont' know what to do. I have already extended the temporary registration, when it expires I wont be able to drive it.

Sell of illegally inspected vehicle

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Purchased a vehicle from Autonation USA in Corpus Christi recently. During the test drive, I advised the salesman that the steering was "jerky". Upon returning to the dealership, I looked at the front tires, and advised him that, not only was the alignment off, but one tire was brand new, and one was half worn, which any half *** mechanic would tell you that in 4 wheel drive, would eventually lead to problems. I then looked at the 2 rear tires, which were almost completely bald, and advised him, that in the state of Texas, those tires were illegal, and would never pass inspection. I told him that I had been a certified tire installation and repair technician for 12 years, as well as a state certified vehicle inspector for 2. I was assured that, if I purchased the vehicle, they would do everything they could to rectify the problem.

After 5 days of attempting to contact someone at the dealership (notice the 5 days...ththei"5 day guaranteed return policy ", i finally got to go and get the copies of my documents., at which time I was informed they would not be replacing any of the tires...it was sold " AS IS".

I'm not a lawyer, by any stretch of the word, but after working for the state of Texas for 20 years, I have made some friends in the DPS. I have emailed pics of the illegal tires, with a tread depth gauge fully visible, as well as the dealer copy of inspection, AND copies of 4 additional inspection FAILS from certified inspection locations here, and an affidavit from the DPS sgt in the area containing the state and federal codes concerning legal tires on the roadway, as well as the state inspection code, to the Department Of Public Safety in Austin, showing that the vehicle passed inspection with illegal tires.

I'd be willing to bet a year's salary that Corporat Autonation Never sees this, or responds.

Vehicle issue

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Well I left my car with AutoNation for servicing on Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. I was told I would receive a text from someone that day apparently this is how they choose to communicate with customers .

I never received a text at all and now here it is Tuesday and I still have not heard from them. I have requested for management to call me still have not been contacted. So overall experience with AutoNation has been extremely terrible they tell you one thing they do not follow up with what they say they're going to do, they don't even have a working phone number to reach anyone. My vehicle is currently in the possession of this company and I can't even figure out what's going on so I have no choice but to take a taxi to physically go and check to see what's going on.

On top of everything your service chat box keeps sending you phone numbers that do not work. I will never ever recommend the service to anyone.

I will actually do the total opposite. Avoid this company at all cost.

AutoNation USA - Warranty repair not done
Updated by user Feb 04, 2022

AutoNation sent me an email on Jan7, 2022, saying that someone would contact me to resolve the problem.. I replied and attached videos of the problem.

It is now February 4 and I have not heard from them.

I am not surprised. These people are bad news.

Original review Jan 05, 2022

Used vehicle had engine issues while under 90 day warranty. AutoNation Wickliffe, Ohio service department is a joke.

My salesman as well. They kept my car for 2 weeks, did not address or fix the problem, then denied there was a problem, despite multiple audio/visual evidence on my cell phone. Vehicle is a Honda, they said they would take it to a Honda dealer if necessary and then refused to do that.

Now the warranty has expired, the vehicle has the same issue, and they've washed their hands of me. It's a much longer story than this...

I would not do business with them again.

One of the 8 videos is attached.

Im making payments on the vehicle I purchased from Autonation USA Henderson, NV> I am unable to register it because Autonation put the incorrect model on the paperwork. It has been almost 2 months, they will not cooperate with anyone, including motor vehicles, so I went to trade it in to get out of trying to deal with them.

I cannot trade it in because they will not release the title. NOT EVEN TO THE FINANCE COMPANY.!!!

They are hiding something. I'm stuck with a car I cant't register and I can't sell.

They tell me the deal cannot go through and they cannot give me my $400 back after I gave it to them less than 5 minutes ago. They are crooks and do not trust their business. I will be filing a corporate complaint.

*** dealer experience Ive ever had. It took me 20 minutes to find this complaint forum.
