I won't go there again. One of the baristas told me something I didn't know about mysrlf that I thought was legally finished. Only an under cover cop would know

Autolube and espresso in Tacoma is a ripoff!!

On January 30, 2009 I took my 2006 Pontiac G6 GT coupe into Autolube and espresso in Tacoma, WA (1202 South 38th Street Tacoma, WA 98418) For a routine oil change as the local dealershhip where I purchased my car went out of business. As I waited for the oil change I read some of their prices on other services. The car had about 60k and I figured it was about time i had the auto transmission fluid/filter serviced. They were more than happy to oblige my request and I thought $69.95 was more than reasonable! In the few months that followed I took my 1998 Honda accord and my 1995 Ford bronco in for both oil and transmission fluid/filter changes. At this time I felt very comfortable patronizing this establishment. On April 15th 2009 I took my G6 back to Autolube for another oil change. Everything seemed to be going fine until the owner Bruce Rice came to me to reccomend a transmission fluid/filter service as my fluid was very very dirty! I immediately declined the service as I was quite sure that I had already had the service performed by them just a few months prior! I went home to review my receipts (always keep them no matter what!!!) and found that I was right! I went back to the shop on the 17th (my next day off) just after they had opened. I went up to Bruce Rice (the owner) and proceeded to discuss my concerns with him there at the counter (no other patrons were present). I was extremely polite and never once raised my voice even when i felt I was being lied to. Bruce proceeded to inform me that GM/Pontiac had just sent out a service bulletin just a couple months prior about changing the reccomended fluid from dextron3 to dextron6. I asked why I wasn't informed of this as I have been there multiple times and they had had my phone number. Bruce proceeded to tell me that also in the last couple of months they have updated their database and they had no way to contact me. When asked whether he would do a courtesy fluid change on my car, Bruce kinda laughed and said, "yeah if you're gonna pay another $99.95!" I declined again as i felt i was getting screwed again! I went to the nearest Pontiac dealership (20 miles away) to schedule a transmission service. While there I asked the service advisor about the fluid type service update. He looked at me funny and said, "Pontiac has always reccomended Dextron6 in your car. It is even stated in your owners' manual." Now i really felt screwed! I then called Bruce back and told him what my findings were. He did not care whatsoever and proceded to inform me that since pontiac never told him what fluid to use, that it wasn't his fault! I was very very very very upset by this time! I am a suspension mechanic (i hate fluids/electrical so i don't touch them) and cannot stand it when another shop claims ignorance when they make a mistake! How can you specialize in lubrication and have no idea which fluid goes where or what type to use?!?!? Bruce told me that if I brought my car back to him he would give me a 10% discount off of the $99.95 transmission fluid service....talk about a slap in the face! Unfortunately I will never reccomend Autolube and espresso in Tacoma to anyone for any reason whatsoever!!!!

well auto lube was right , gm has always used dex 3 until they realized that the additives in the fluid was not keeping the transmissions cool so they were going out under extreme heat , until dex 6 came out now to cover gms but, gm rec. dex.

6 for everything, rember up untill just a couple of years ago , dex 6 was not avabile, but for some reason dealer ship spoke and customer thinks that always right, wrong! sorry we cant fix ***!
