False advertising
They have all these commercials on TV stating, $99 down and $99 a week regardless of your credit! Then you get up there and financing say "That's not us!" Well I'm going to record the commercials.
Then they also have the tax commercials bet that's fake as well. It's just to lure you in there.

Deceptive
My name is jimmie went tto one of your dealerships last week. attempted to rent to buy a vehicle you have three locations here in Springfield Missouri.was towed $1200 give for a vehicle.
my problem with that what I asked laine or North Springfield. so I said you mean to tell me that a 3 car lots.
You have only one vehicle i can get which narrows my option looked at the car hyundai moon roof did not work was told since iit is cosmetic you do not have to fix so now im thinking going to have to put more money into it if i want it to work appreciate you taking the time to read this

Auto by rent sold an unsafe vehicle
My 19 y.o. daughter went to Auto by Rent in Joplin, Missouri.
They stated the program was similar to rent to own housing - it was a good way to build credit. They also stated they had their vehicles examined by reputable mechanics. Three weeks after obtaining possession of the vehicle, the cv axle went out on it. The mechanic made a statement there had been a lot of work done on this vehicle's front end.
When a test drive was completed, the work did not fix the problem. We called Auto by Rent and they had us take it to their mechanic in Joplin. He stated it was the ball bearings and made a similar comment about the work done on the vehicle. When another test drive was done, that work did not fix the problem.
It was then stated the drive shaft was bent. He pulled out the drive shaft and started looking for one to replace it with. We took the vehicle home and it rolle down our driveway into the street. We took it back and he put the parking pin as far as it could go.
We took it back. This time, even with the emergency brakes on the vehicle, it rolled. We took it back - There were no emergency brake system. I returned the vehicle to Auto by Rent.
Now, I had been calling all along.
The Joplin store took the vehicle up to Springfield. They attempted to say we had damaged the drive shaft (difficult to do but the vehicle had not been hit or had we run over anything that would damage it). When I stated that 3 mechanics had looked at the vehicle and had mentioned all the work that had been done, and their mechanic had also stated "They were probably trying to find the problem I just did with the drive shaft." Auto by Rent stopped talking with me.
I attempted to call the owner several times and none of them would return my call.
I had asked that we would forego any payments made but requested our down payment be returned. They will not deal with us.

I believe after all they had been threw I would be pissed to.I had thought about going an looking at some cars but after what I found out now I dont think so I'll pass.
Bad business
I believe that. most car lots don't care what type of *** they're selling.
Auto by rent sounds like a *** dealership . I wouldn't by *** from them.
I have done mechanic work for many years and I will tell you without a doubt that DRIVE SHAFTS AND AXLES DO NOT BEND WITHOUT A HARD IMPACT ie... hitting something in the road, hitting a curb, driving through a bad pot hole.
This 19 year old girl should fess up to what happened. I do NOT work for Auto By Rent or any company associated with them. I do not have a vehicle from them, and as far as I know I do not know anyone associated with them. I am just a person who knows what it takes to bend a axle or drive shaft.
Funny this is the only bad write up I have found on this company. You do not see where this complainer sued Auto By Rent, they have NO complaints with the BBB and are A+ rated.
I just may go get a car from them. This sounds like a smear and I despise this sort of thing.
This is likely someone that works for the company, who in there right might would go into all that detail and also look for complaints on the BBB site. Shame on you!!!
