Atlanta Medical Institute - Emergency Service Review from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I have currently been waiting 6hrs to be treated. I have a metal fragment in my eye..

I have yet to speak with a actual Dr.. Yet they rush to process me and strap a armband on me to make sure Im financially obiligated.. Im not only disappointed.. Yet very confused behind how unprofessional they have been..

Ive watch so many cna hang around on the clock.. Than patients would even be considered to be treated.

Atlanta Medical Institute Weight Loss Program Review from Atlanta, Georgia

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I wanted to write a review on line about Atlanta Medical intitute on one of the consumer web sites. I am very private and all the sites want excess to your privacy on your phone.

Funny how only a angry site does not expose privacy. Well my experience was Great!!!!. Issues my regular doctor just says are ok for my age. The medical staff at Atlanta Medical listened to me.

The Dr.ran test I felt I wanted. They worked well with my insurance. I did not know some test ins will not make you pay all of your deductable on the spot. Some things that are cash and are a lot cheaper than using ins.

I went there for weight loss but came out with a lot more issues than weight loss being helped. It was so easy there. I am sending my husband there for male issues and low T.

They said they will check his levels and do an exam and then should be able to give him the dosing he needs of real testostone...no cheap junk like in stores or on tv and it will be that easy. I love that place.

Stay Away from this place!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After being pulled in fraudulently by A $99.00 Groupon for a weight loss consult, they took my insurance and then some man by the name of Dr. Semel pressured me so bad in to taking 3 test that were charged to my insurance in the amount of $11,000 or more.

When he left out my room I was in tears.. he made me feel horrible.. this isn't the first time I've heard this (I saw the BBB rating and Yelp Review) But i still went. No one ever told me these test were that much, and Dr.

Semel made me feel like if i didn't get the test then I wouldn't be successful in the weight loss program. I've reported him to my Insurance for Un-medically necessary test being ran on me... and Ive also reported them to THE BBB...

I called and have left numerous of messages with no call back!!! STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

So sorry that you feel this way. We at Atlanta Medical Institute have treated over 10,000 patients over the last few years.

We strive for excellence with our patients. Every test done in our office is medically necessary by our board certified physicians. We utilize these test to help diagnosis our patients to help protect them against any contraindications that may occur from prescription drugs that we prescribe .

Every patient must agree to testing before tests are run by signing consent forms. Every test is explained to our patients before being administered and every result of these tests help our doctors and our patients to reach their treatment goals.

Terrible experience!!

I went to this institute with a groupon that I had purchased. When I met with someone who was not a doctor they would not even discuss with me the groupon that I came in with. Instead they pushed and pushed to sell me on an HCG program. While in my appointment, I was the last appointment for the day, I was rushed along, had the consultants daughter in and out of my appointment when I am being measured, weighed, talking about my goals, etc. The consultant was talking on the phone about her plans after work to her ex husband, etc. I was "sold" into a program that I was not even told the full parameters of. I also disclosed that I had certain pre-existing conditions and the consultant did not take that information into account. She was there to push a product and treatment plan not look at me as an individual. I let her know that I had Thyroid disease and she even went as far as to let me know they had an GYN on staff who could look at it for me? I have an endocrinologist specialist for my disease. At check out I was given a bag of products that I was told to not worry about until after our next meeting.

When I got home and had the time to actually research what I was pushed into because I felt as if I was preyed upon because I had a low self image of my self I realized that the program was exactly what I told her from the beginning that I could not do and that my specialists and GP had both specified it was not a program for me (I have this in writing from both doctors as well). I also looked in the mystery bag at the products which included a weight loss supplement, whey, which I let her know that I am allergic to milk. Another valid point that they were not looking at me as an individual rather just pushing a product.

I called and emailed the facility immediately, being that I was the last appointment they were already closed for the night. I contacted them first thing in the morning and spoke with a manager explained how this program my doctors who treat my disease said it will not be okay for me to be on, how I was never notified of the entire program, how I was given supplements I was allergic to, and how I have doctor letters stating that I can not do this program. I never did hear back from the manager until weeks later when she called and let me know that she spoke with the doctor on site and he said the program is safe for me. The doctor who has 1) never met me 2) only seen blood work results that I provided them 3) that was generalizing my disease and not looking at me as an individual. I was also enlightened that I could provide my doctor documentation but they would have to review my doctors (who know me and my case) with their doctor to see if their statements had any credibility. Furthermore, I STILL to this day have yet to have one of their consultants contact me regarding the program, coming in, or even changing the program to something that will work for me. This just goes to show it was only the money they were after. Instead, I submitted a claim with my credit card company and Atlanta Medical Institute has rejected the claim. They also stated that even though I had contacted them with information from my doctors the very next day that if I were to get a refund they would keep 20 or 30% of my money.

Stay away they are a nightmare! They do not care about individuals they are only in it for the money!

I apologize for your experience. We have treated thousands of patients with fantastic results.

Unfortunately your experience was not a pleasant one.

I'm not sure what transpired however I would like to take this opportunity to let you know this is an exception not the normal. If you would like you can contact me directly at the office to discuss the situation.

@curious1vewpve- if you would have read my EXTENSIVE review, you would have read that I had bought the groupon for a phentermine program. Close and careful reading would have been ideal for you in this situation.

But hey, from your ignorant and misinformed comment I can only assume that this would be a perfect establishment for you!

Good luck!

Guest

Then why did you buy the groupon if your doctors that know you told you it was not a good plan for you?

Guest

They are terrible!

Horrible service

I kick myself for not reading the reviews(this company has enough bad ones) as I probably wouldnt have wasted my money or time on this place. I got the deal through HalfOff Depot and took off time to go only to be seen not by a doctor but by a "wellness consultant" (aka glorified salesman and Office Mgr) who tried to aggressively push a more expensive program than I what I requested involving worthless HCG.

Then took my blood pressure and erroneously said it was high which I confirmed through second opinion that it was not. Then I was made to take another day off work to come back and be told no a second time due to a minor condition that has never caused me problems before. Also having to endure their aggressive sales pitch of overpriced HCG and some glorified herbal alternative that one could buy at CVS or the grocery store for cheaper. Then to be told that because the doctor is not here I so I wouldnt have gotten my script anyway.

Before leaving a second time I made it clear that I DID NOT want HCG or their overpriced herbal alternative as HCG is not approved by FDA for weight loss and herbal supplements dont work for me. I had to wait all day to be called and told that I could only get the natural alternative. When I said I did not want it, my call was transferred to the same person who tried to push the HCG program on me.

He condescendingly said, "We cant make the doctor give you the medication you want." and "We did everything we were supposed to do." I asked for my money back and was told rudely I need to talk to HalfOff depot. I also requested that my file and info be shredded as I did not want my name associated with this business

Run- staff not trained

Stay away - No medical testing / lab work done. While they say the center is medically supervised - not sure where this comes into play I was never seen by a Doctor or a PA - The staff must be on commission as they push the products and are not knowledge enough to know what they are selling is OK with your medical issues.

High turn over and staff issues of stealing personal information. While the program works they are not surviving as it was intended to be done.

The staff is very Rude.

If you value your time, health and money - Run find someone else -

Sorry for your experience. Are you sure you were at Atlanta Medical Institute.

Every patient is given a blood test and sometimes if medically necessary other diagnostic testing to insure the patients safety. No medications are given to a patient without testing .

Atlanta Medical Institute - Total Fraud Not MD's

I went to the Atlanta Medical Institute after hearing about them on the radio. They purported themselves to be experts in weight loss and hormone replacement.

I went to their website and they seemed to reputable however nothing could be further from the truth. Not only are they chiropractors advertising themselves to be MD's - the MD's they do have on staff are not board certified. See for yourself: http://www.atlantamedicalinstitute.com/atlanta-weight-loss.html

Dr. Semel, MD is not an MD - This comes directly from their website.

Anyway.. I went there looking to lose weight and they wanted to give me pills and inject me a hormone that pregnant women make. What made it worse is they wanted 400 dollars for a 21 day program.

Run run run! total scam!

RIPPPPP OFF the DR aka DC wrote the directions on my perscription wrong they told me to take progestrone pill in the morning instead of at night, PROGESTERONE makes you drowsy and s supposed to be taken at night. This could have caused me to have a huge accident if I didn't realize and would have continued to take it as perscribed and would have been driving.

I brought it to their attention and all they did was give me a free B-12 Which they ADVERTISE as Lipo-Dissolve. This is a currupt practice that violates, cheat and steals

Guest

I wish they would of charge me $400.00 they are charging me $2000.00 for a 3 month period that is ridiculous. If it would of been 400 I would of done it that day.

Since the subject is on MDs. I am a currently practicing MD, attended accredited Medical School and completed 2 ACGME residencies.

I came in to discuss anti-aging options. I saw Dr Cheng he was brief but polite. Afterward I thought it was strange an MD posing as a Plastic Surgeon who doesnt do surgeries. I researched his background and saw he graduated from China?

Is this verified? And the only saw a Preventative Medicine residency from the CDC. I did not see any true Residency to practice Medicine.

Residency in Preventative Medicine at the CDC can be done by PAs, RNs, Vets. The BIG question is: has he completed his qualifications to truly be practicing as an MD????

Guest

Dr. Semel is a D.C. We don't pass him off as an MD, and he is the MD that see's patients and writes prescriptions.

Does that statment not contridict itself?

He is not a MD and we dont pass him off as that, then the next line is he is the MD that see's patients and writes prescriptions?

Sounds like you keep passing him off as one yourself.

Guest

AAron Rosenhaft, is an employee that made the comment to defend a fraudulent company.

Guest

Aaron you sound upset in above comment.

did I notice this person said your company injected a "hormone" that a pregnant woman get!!

Oh I have to post. Please Please stop Aaron you sound too desperate!

Guest

My name is Aaron Rosenhaft and I am the Director of Operations for Atlanta Medical Institute. First of all, I suggest this person try to get their facts straight.

Dr. Semel is a D.C. We don't pass him off as an MD, and he is the MD that see's patients and writes prescriptions. We have three MD's here and you by law have to see one to get our medications. Secondly, our program isn't free!

It costs money, and it works for most people. It doesn't work for everyone, and it isn't a magic pill.

Patients need to realize they have hard work they need to put in, and these are just different tools to improve the chance of successfully losing weight and keeping it off in the future. If this person had done the program, they probably would have lost weight.
