Long story short, Astrill has terrible customer service. Too expensive.
I've been a customer for years and I regret giving them my money.
Stay away! Competitors are better.

New Device, Mac Air Pro model ur. 2021 M1 chip, installed Astrill vpn, unable to connect in any city around all the options.
No problem with other existing apple devices. Currently stationed in China.

Astrill not working. Receive message that we cannot receive network programming because we are not in the States even though Astrill has us located in San Diego

Problem with getting astrill vpn to open
i have exhausted every means to contact you none of them worked.i need a tempory password to get the app to open
Total rip off
Astrill is the worst. They've tricked me into buying a years VPN service only to then later tell me I need to pay them $60 to actually use it in China. It's pretty shady business practice.
I contacted Astrill support staff three times before choosing to use their product. Each time I was told something a little different from each of the staff. Strange yes, but I didn't worry about that too much. Then after buying Astrill's VPN service, I was unable to connect the Wi-Fi router I purchased from them. I was then later informed (on my third time contacting technical support) that I needed to spend $60 to upgrade my account. Mind you, this is my third time contacting them about being unable to connect my router. Each support person told me something different. They may have been giving me incorrect answers so that I didn't try to cancel until the seven day trial policy have ended.
Astrill will rip you off. Don't be tricked by their fake reviews saying how good the services.

I purchased a specific Country based Private IP.I purchased it because it was available and paid extra cost. Now, I didn't need a "no matter what country" private IP, I needed a specific country.
Since a few days, it's not available anymore, they only offer two very spotty IP shared address that often stop receiving data and affect my work.
I wrote to them and I got a response saying that they could switch me to another country's private IP, but I DON'T NEED ANOTHER COUNTRY'S IP. I need that specific country.
They answered that I'm not collaborating with their proposals, no offer of refund, even a menacing tone:"
We can see a long communication of our support representatives with you regarding your private IP issue. Our staff has already proposed you various possible solutions but they all aren't carried out by you.
We will strongly suggest and request you to cooperate with support representatives to get a solution for you.
Thanks"

Avoid Astrill horrible customer service
ASTRILL CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS
They ignore all your refund related questions
and quite frankly, the only thing they ever respond to you with is with technical solutions for problems you didn’t even ask. I’m better they use automated messages to reply to everyone based on keywords in the ticket. The service used to be good a year ago, but recently they've just gone downhill.
When it works it's fine. Lately it has been unstable for months.
They just refuse to provide normal answers and will always reply you with sorry for the inconvenience. After a few iterations of words you will just get pissed off. Avoid this VPN provider.
Refusal to remove my information from server
I first signed up for Astrill by opting for the 7 day free trial, just to give it a try. I'm pleased I did, as I found the service to be quite lacking.
When the 7 days was up, and I got an email to subscribe I decline, instead reaching out and asking them to delete my account, thus removing all my information.
I was told that they would not be able to do so, but instead could close my account. I was surprised by this, as I had only signed up for a free trial, and did not really open up a paid account. Also, I explained to them that as a customer, it was my right to request that any private information be removed.
They responded and again, reiterated that it could not be done, and when I let them know I was disappointed and would share my disappointment with Better Business Bureau, they stopped responding.
I've never heard of such a thing, where a company can keep your information on a server when you have closed an account. I mean, what if there is a breach, then what would their explanation be? Also, I had wanted them to do so because I had started receiving a lot of spam emails, and so was concerned about that my privacy as a result of that as well, something that I did relay to them.
As I've seen on a number of reviews, customer service for Astrill ranks pretty low. They are very accommodating, until you ask/request something that they aren't happy with, that's when they suddenly stop all communication with you.
Definitely a very dissatisfied potential customer. And if I had been thinking of maybe trying them down the line, this definitely has killed any chance of that.

Don't us Astrill VPN
I have been using astrill vpn in China for over 3 years now. However this past year Astrill vpn customer service has been just awful.
they have even insulted their customers in some angry rage. (see attached photo). Their vpn service has not been working properly for the last 3 months. You can't connect via their own software and the alternative software only connects to the vpn for 30 seconds.
If you need a reliable VPN in China Don't use this company. I have switched to another VPN in China and no problems.
