No response
Well, I just heard back from assent mtg today, 4 April 2017. They sent me a FedEx package including all of the information that I sent to them on 22 December 2016.
The original envelope was included with the postmark. The was no apology, explanation or indication of who sent me the package or the reason they sent it back to me.
Back in December of 2016 I started a mortgage with Assent. Just before the end of the year I had sent in all of the paperwork that they requested.
Over a month had passed and I called to see what the status was. I called and called and called but never got an answer (I didn't leave a message). Finally I called another individual who was working on the loan and she told me that she no longer worked for assent but she would have someone call me. She also told me to call her back if I did not receive a response.
never got a response and did not call her back. Instead I called Assent again at their general number. I left a message to be called back (The message was left with an individual and not a phone system) Now another month has passed and still no one has contacted me. I guess this is how they let you know that you did not qualify for the loan.
At least I didn't lose out because of a rate increase in the last 2 or 3 months. Thanks a lot assent.

Assent Mortgage - Loan Refinance Review
My husband and I in July 2016 applied to refinance our home loan! The agent kashi informed us the loan had closed in November 2016, but wait!
Because Assent did not catch the need to have the taxes paid Assent could not hold the interest rate, at the 11th hour, we were told our closed loan was no longer available to us! I would not recommend this group for mortgage assistance because the Assent to a closed loan after sending all required documents, has been a dissent into distrust and disgust for this business!
False Approval cost me 50,000
The short version is, a representative form the company (actually 2 of them) told me I was done on my mortgage at 3.75% fixed, 30 years, no points. My rep eventually ended up leaving in disgust, and the company never called me back to tell me as much. I had to physically go in and confront them, at which time I found the following:
- I was never approved at those terms
- they are a direct lender, although they simple fund the loan through a warehouse line and then immediately sell it to a bank that has done its underwriting before the close of the loan (to my mind, that is the same thing as a broker)
- They had asked another bank to look at it
- the new sales person they wanted to assign me didnt have his own License number, but listed the company's by his name instead
Rates are now 1000 bps higher, and so I'm out the Present value of about 50,000. Avoid these idiots!

1000 bps higher? That makes no sense?
Yes. I worked with Theresa Abelson also.
She doesn't know what she's doing. Told me several times my mortgage was approved and to not pay my next mortgage payment. Then when the new mortgage didn't close when she said it would she acted all surprised and kept asking me why I hadn't made my last payment. When I told her because you told me not to she had nothing to say.
Beware. Don't deal with her.
These guys are a bunch of crooks, they will not put anything in writing nor will they return phone calls, they will promise you anything and deliver only what happens to fall into place. If there are any problems it is your problem.
NEVER pay for an appraisal, until they write the loan and get it in writing. Beware of Theresa Abelson she claims to be a mortage banker, she is just another loan broker, they are not direct lenders, they are a bunch of low hanging fruit processors
