Verified ReviewerReflecting Upon Tradeoffs
- Second Ascend kayak, 133X, improves on the 128T.
- 133X is much improved; some design issues remain.
- The flex under the trolling motor is fixable.
On on my second Ascend kayak. I went from the old 128T to the newer 133X for my second one.
Both have had their issues with quality design, but the 133X is very improved. More could and should be done for further improvement. It wouldn't be that difficult for them to pay attention to reviews, as they apparently did with the 128T, and make production corrections -- just do so quicker. For me, the only problem was, like many, I didn't like the flex under the trolling motor, which I easily fixed, and they could easily fix.
But those complaining about seat height make no sense to me. The lower you are, the safer you are as the kayak is more stable.
If you want the seat higher, or want it to swivel, then make adjustments. They keep the price point fairly low which allows for more willing customization.
User's recommendation: If you are fairly handy, and like make customizations to your fishing kayaks, this is a good option. But, it needs a motor! It's too bulky for paddling.

Verified ReviewerDESIGN flaw of front deck, the thickness of material cannot support trolling motor as advertised !
- Purchased two Ascend 133x kayaks and added a Motor Guide quick release.
- Facebook group shows improvised supports from cutting boards and metal.
we purchased two Ascend 133x Kayaks as we are installing the quick release on the kayak for Motor Guide, we noticed as many stated in our Facebook Group for the Ascend 133x as described above in Subject Section, many have made support's out of cutting boards, aluminum, stainless steel , Your contact number customer relations (Stephanie) who was very nice by the way, told me she could not get me in touch with the engineering division, to see if a remedy, Support plate has been developed such as the Kayak Company Bonafide. She referred me to Bass-pro, I explained Bass-pro had referred me to ascend, this is the same pass around described by over 300 owners of the 133x on the Facebook Group of the Ascend Kayak 133x owner's Please Help !!

They don’t stand behind there products
- 2021 Ascend kayak topside has pin holes leaking water inside.
- Warranty is non-transferable and they won't look into it.
I have a 2021 Ascend kayak, topside has pin holes throughout that leak water into the inside. Because Im 2cd owner they wont even consider looking into it for me.
They said warranty is non transferable.I get it but you either stand behind your product or not. This is clearly a manufacture defect.
User's recommendation: Stay away, much better options out there

I purchased a new Ascend 12T from Cabellas and I need to raise the seat up about 8". Do you have a kit for this or do you sell a taller seat for this kayak?
- It looks like a good kayak
- Seat is way too low

Need a replacement seat
- Replacement seats have been back ordered since May.
- Seats are steel and rust quickly.
- There is poor design and poor customer service.
They do not have replacement seats...back ordered since MAY!! It is mid-November and still no seats.
The seats are made out of steel and rust quickly. *** poor design and *** poor customer service.
I now have a $700 kayak in perfect shape with no seat....great. Thanks Ascend

No refund needed.
- I bought a 128T Kayak and found it unstable on the water.
- I fabricated a wheel and stabilizer system that fixed the problem.
- I am happy with the rest.
I recently bought A 128T Kayak After reading plenty of reviews and doing a little homework on kayaks that you can stand up on. I was happy with my purchase until I got on the water and realized how unstable the boat really is.
Being in the composites business myself I just fabricated a wheel and stabilizer system for the boat which fixed the problem.Cleaning my kayak out today I realized I could see the Sun Shining through a spot of the boats haul.
You can push on it is very soft clearly not as thick is the rest of the boat and quite easily will turn into *** I will also fix this myself. Otherwise I am happy with the rest of this kayak But thought I should bring it to your attention
