Artme 3D filament extruder does not work with PETG.

To start they say this filament extruder works with PETG see here. Sections from their website.

Then when I do try to extrude, the motor or gear box starts to skip.

That shows me that this extruder is underpowered to work with PETG and other harder plastics. This is new virgin PETG in pellet form with 3% Masterbatch plastic colorant.

The ARTME extruder cant turn the screw constantly and the first screw broke off entirely. Showing me again that the extruder does not work with PETG or most other kinds of harder materials.

They sent me a new extruder screw, and it worked worse with the gear box skipping even more at lower RPM. With less plastic in the barrel (i.e.

The skipping started when the barrel was half primed) that was worse than the first screw that was used.

With very little material coming out the nozzle, and it was skipping the whole time making the extrusion erratic and inconsistent. Rendering the little plastic that came out the nozzle to be either unable to put in the puller unit (that is how this extruder adjusts the diameter of the filament) because the plastic would stop flowing for too long. The plastic filament would break off at the nozzle or for the one time I could get the filament to the puller it was way too small and all over the place on diameter like +or- .25mm on a 1mm string of filament.

Remember that was one and only time for about 15 feet then the screw broke that was what ended it.

I also checked all their troubleshooting fixes on this topic and none of it helped. It still had the same problems.

I have not tried the extruder with any other kinds of materials other than PETG, but the more higher grade materials would most likely also suffer from the same problems.

As the price of $800 USD shipped from Germany that is way too high for the ARTME extruder that does not work with PETG. I would run and never look back.
