- - Unapproved $308.15 bill for a book (Order #342562).
- - Offer to close account for $100 after a survey; follow-ups ignored; collections warning.
I received an unexpected $308.15 bill (Order #342562) for a book I never approved at that price. When I explained I couldn't afford it, they offered to close my account for $100 if I completed a survey, a call they scheduled and never showed up for.
I followed up by email on 3/21, 3/28, and 4/1 with no response. They now claim they called me multiple times in February, March, and April, but never once left a voicemail or sent a follow-up email confirming contact. Yesterday, despite months of ignored outreach on my end, I received a collections warning. This is a pattern; read the BBB complaints.
They photograph your child's artwork, send you a bill you never agreed to, and when you can't pay or push back, they threaten collections. The concept is sweet.
The business practices are not. Proceed with extreme caution.
- Expect payment
- No give estimates before work
- Expensive
User's recommendation: Do not use them!

Didn't answer phone, didn't answer phone, didn't answer this phone number; they must have the wrong number.
Preferred solution: A phone call explaining what happened when my accounts got merged
User's recommendation: Don’t bother calling
Want to ask a few questions regarding some changes
They haven't called me yet. I have a deadline to finish my approval of everything on December 12. Hoping they call as soon as possible before that date, so I can get minor changes done.
User's recommendation: Not sure yet. So far all is great and they would be a good recommendation.

Verified ReviewerPayment problem
Apparently, the check I enclosed has been lost. I will be happy to pay by credit card, but I'm concerned about the missing check.
- Simple process to mail photos
Preferred solution: Someone to acknowledge that a check was sent
User's recommendation: Don’t send a check in your box of photos

Verified ReviewerHit with an unexpected and unreasonable bill
- - No upfront estimate; after two months, a $600 invoice with collection threats.
- - Concerns unresolved; customer requests refund and clearer pricing.
I decided to try the service from the company and sent in the box, however I was not sure about any of the services due to inability to have the estimate up front so I deferred to mark any of the services and was expecting an estimate after they received and evaluated my submitted art pieces. I realize I sent lot of art pieces and it was around the holidays, so kept checking on the order status to only see that "they were working on it".
Then, after about 2 months I receive an invoice for nearly 600$ and threats to be sent to the collection agencies if I don't make the payment. Despite multiple attempts to talk to someone to share the concerns and seek the resolution of the transparency issue, none was provided. I respect the work that was done, but I consider it completely unfair to the customer to not be given estimate. Each art is approximately 1$, so it would be as simple as counting the art to give an estimate before finishing the work, photographing and then be threatened to payment for something that should be so optional and enjoyable.
I would really love the company to refund the our balance as well as try and change the policy to make it more transparent as this seems to be the recurring complaint as noted later after online reviews.
I am very thankful for the work they do, but again only complaint I have is not been given an estimate and then forcing the payments out of families, even if it is "cheaper" than other companies as they stated in our communications. They also stated that all of this information about payment and rules, is on their website.
Again, appreciate that they have all of this somewhere there, but they really don't expect customers to read all of it. Why not make it more clear and include it on their beautifully advertised boxes and order forms that are shipped to the customer?
- Great idea
- Very unclear and untrue about pricing
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Make sure you understand the price tag and their "process" that is so clear but not really!!!

Hi Anna, I too was a victim of Artkive's, scam. Do you have a way for me to contact you outside of this comment?
I would like to talk with you further about an opportunity to make Artkive pay for the manipulative and predatory business practices they partake in. To put it shortly, Artkive currently has an active court case against them for their manipulative and predatory business practices. A class action suit is a possibility but more people need to come forward and join together for us to have a "class". Again would really like to speak to you further about this in another communication method other than this comment.
If you would like to reach out to me via email, my email is tyleraikey@***.com.
Look forward to hearing from you. Best, Tyler
