Ridiculous Fees

AI Highlights
  • - I paid $1000 down to hire Armstrong Legal.
  • - An invoice shows $840 in 2 days, including $340 for emails and scanning, $500 for a police interview.

I paid a $1000 down payment to agree to have Armstrong Legal represent my husband in a case, they then sent me an email with cost agreement I didnt get a good feeling about it and decided to withdraw my request for them to represent my husband. I then got an invoice of funds that were used in the 2 days after I paid the fee.

$840 gone!!! $340 of that was invoiced for sending me an email copy of the court documents we had given to them, sending emails with cost agreements and scanning my documents!!

$500 charged for lawyer to read 3 A4 pieces paper and listen to a 10 min police interview on a disc we gave them. I hate to think what about actual court case would have cost!!

Don’t expect anything!

AI Highlights
  • - The reviewer says the legal system protects criminals.
  • - It benefits lawyers and magistrates.
  • - Victims feel justice is unlikely and rarely heard.

I have an even lower belief in lawyers and our legal system. Cemented now in my belief is that our legal system is only there to protect criminals and provide an income for lawyers, magistrates and their entourage - I don't expect justice because there is not any within our current system.

I cant tell you everything in my review but its shocking to say the least.

How corrupt the whole system is. Any wonder victims speaking out and being heard are far and few between.

User's recommendation: Avoid

Dissatisfied client

AI Highlights
  • - I have to beg my lawyer to answer calls or share information.
  • - I paid my fee and am not getting promised services, and there is no transparency.

I have to beg my lawyer to pick my calls or to give me information relevant to my matter. No transparency and so much monkey business, I have a right to this information, I have paid my fee and I am not getting the services that I was guaranteed

Preferred solution: I need a clear report on my case, that's all

User's recommendation: From my experience, don't go with Armstrong legal

In the same boat as you with Armstrong Legal - ripped off ! worse then the 'x' wife !

AI Highlights
  • - Total costs: $72,000 for legal services.
  • - A $35,000 court trust was paid to firm's account; no hearing occurred and they suggested another $35,000.

A simple matter according to Armstrong Legal cost me $72,000 . They applied for funds from monies held in trust by the court to run my matter to hearing , this was $35,000 , the Judge agreed and the money was paid to their trust account .

they then applied it to their account , did not use the money for hearing then suggested I apply for another $35,000 .

So in 2016 - since 2012 i still have no hearing , no settlement and as a RAN Naval veteran who was medically retired with PTSD, anxiety and high stress , awaiting two new hips I could not warn you all enough , the fact that I survive on pensions meant nothing to them . I felt I was the enemy and found all communication hard to follow .

My personal experience as a client of Armstrong Legal (Sydney)..... $270,000 later

AI Highlights
  • - Divorce lasted over two years, with no trial.
  • - Settlement occurred after a few calls; trust fund issues and a $3,000 claim involving Peter Magee.

Armstrong Legal acted as my attorney in a divorce proceeding that dragged on for more than two years. It never even went to trial. It was settled by the two barristers over a few phone calls. I was always pushing to settle the case early to limit the burgeoning legal fees, but was continually encouraged by Armstrong Legal to continue and continually advised by Armstrong Legal that it was too early to settle. I was continually advised that my wife was crazy and didn't have a case. In the final act, their barrister contradicted all the advice I had been given, and more or less indicated that I should just give my ex what she wanted, or very close to it.

Had I been given the correct advice earlier it could have saved me hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Adding insult to injury, I am now being threatened with legal action for an aditional $3000 that Peter Magee says I owe his company, after he took the best part of $50,000 he was holding in trust for me, prior to sending an account.... The funds in trust were held there against possible tax charges and fines against the joint super fund, and not against my legal account. There were other funds ($20,000) held in trust for this purpose.

Peter Magee had no authority to take these funds and I made a complaint to NSW Legal Services, but no action against him was ever taken (to the best of my knowledge)

Adding further insult to injury, he also holds the title to my property which he says he will keep until I pay him a further $3000.

I am unable to negotiate further with Peter Magee as he is now blocking all my emails to the company Armstrong Legal.

I doubt that I will ever get money (or title deed) returned, but maybe this experience can serve to warn others.

I had the worst experience ever. Started with Daniel Rod who basically did not even know what he was doing.

The firm was not corresponding for months together. Then the case was taken over by a social worker who had recently become a lawyer. Absolutely rude and judgemental .

Billed me for over 20k for the year I was with them . Did not even get the document right.

Stay away from this firm

Maybe you should complain to the Legal Services Commissioner. Just a thought.
