Poor Customer Service

I visited the location on Rio Salado Pwky and McClintock earlier this week. I was asked to move my appointment to the day of due to a conflict in scheduling with the stylist I requested. Living over 30 minutes away, I still agreed. I got out of work late and had difficulties with directions, so I was running late. Rushing causes me to feel anxious. So rushing to get to my appointment, I arrived short of breath and feeling anxious. The first thing I am told when I walk in is "you need a mask to receive any service". I was not greeted or asked my name, nor did this receptionist even make eye contact with me. Not only did the receptionist show poor customer service, she failed to acknowledge that the ordinance in Tempe and all over the state allow exemptions for those with medical and mental conditions. The sign on the door also fails to acknowledge that accommodations are made for those that fall under the CDC's and city's exemptions. The American Disability Act also prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities which INCLUDES mental conditions that are NOT visible. Under ADA you are also not allowed to ask a person about their disability. Since confrontation exacerbates my anxiety, I complied. Already having trouble breathing AND wearing a mask I was struggling when I got to my stylist's chair. I told my stylist that I have anxiety and have trouble breathing in the mask and she did NOTHING. If it wasn't for me driving over 30 minutes to get to this appointment I would have left. I have continued to come to this location solely for this stylist, but after the poor customer service AND failure to adhere to ADA, CDC guidelines, and Tempe ordinance, it would take a lot for me to even consider coming back. Teach your employees to address masks more considerately and consider changing the sign on your door to accurately define the ordinance or else it does appear that your business is discriminating against those that cannot wear a mask whether it be for medical or religious reasons.
