Verified ReviewerPoor after sale service
- AquaCal canceled the $99/year maintenance after year one.
- The unit died after four years; warranty covers it but site visit is $235.
Two issues. First, when I purchased my pool heater, AquaCal had a maintenance program for $99 per year (service call with basic maintenance). This was an important consideration in deciding to go with their heater. After the first year, they canceled this program without any notification. I only found out after I called to find out why I had not heard anything about scheduling the next annual service. I then had to locate an AC company to perform maintenance.
Second, the unit completely stopped working 4 years after purchase. I called for service under my extended warranty and was informed that while my unit was covered under the warranty, there is a $235 site visit charge (this is mentioned without stating the cost in the fine print on the warranty, but not on any of the sales brochures). So, I pay $235 just for them to travel, which is about double what the AC company charged to come and actually do a service.
I am writing this while I wait for the actual service to take place. I will update if anything else significant occurs.
In the meantime, I do not recommend AquaCal.
- Heater worked for 4 years
- Poor after sale service
- Surprise charges for warranty service
