Hello, my name is Lillian Peifer. I am a previous employee of one of your service plazas- Blue Mountain service plaza in Newburg, Pennsylvania.

I am reaching out to you because of some concerns I have regarding the managers and health safety of the food being sold in your store. I will attach pictures of a very small amount of issues occurring at this property. For example: expired mayonnaise, chicken grease with mold under the dishwashing sink, years of layered hand soap in a dispenser that is not being cleaned, also drains full of moldy food and dirt which attracted cockroaches and fruit flies throughout the establishment. Multiple times a health inspector has shown up for an inspection and there was not a manager or supervisor in the building causing an employee to have to be the one to walk them through and fail due to low food temperatures and too high fridge temps and food being sold after being left out for hours.

There is a sewage leak in the walls behind a handicap stall in the womens bathroom that is soaking human *** into the walls of the bathroom causing an extremely foul smell and has been masked with vinegar and other smelling agents instead of resolving the bigger issue. Dogs are being let into the establishment that are not service animals and have been using the bathroom on the floors and not been cleaned by maintenance. Maintenance has also been caught sleeping in the closets, making out with employees in the walk in fridge and harassing almost all young female employees. Going to as far as finding their social media accounts and stalking them.

Trash is never changed causing fruit flies to accumulate around the area. Employees hours are being cut due to forced breaks every 4 hours and nobody is allowed to work over 38 hours. (Even full time employees) the plaza director, Kelly, is never present or interactive with her employees. None of the managers and supervisors know how to work at the Starbucks causing it to have to be closed or run by 1 employee for a full 8 hours shift when someone calls out.

They do not know how to order the correct amount of food or supplies for the Starbucks causing them to constantly be out of things or things being left expired due to employees not reading dates.

I have tried to contact HR about these issues and had a meeting with Kelly and an HR lady by the name of Sherri Ellis saying that all of these problems addressed have been resolved or there is a slip put in to fix the problem but these problems have been going on for years coming from some of the employees that have worked there for a long time. I am looking for someone to be sent to this plaza and do a THOROUGH investigation to resolve these ongoing issues and possibly replace managers that are not helping the plaza become a safe place for turnpike travelers to stop.
