DON'T

Apollo Casualty Company - DON'T
This Company should be boycotted. I was minding my on buisness one rainy morning taking my Daughter to school. I was going eastbound on 95th right off of stony island. Traffic was heavy both ways. So all of a sudden out of my left perrifial. An Apollo Casualty Company motorists comes from my left side which is the WEST BOUND lane over the two solid yellow lines trying to beat the on coming traffic that was at the light. Well he misjudged the timing. So instead of going head on with the WEST BOUND traffic. He decided to dip back in the EAST BOUND lane., Clipping and side swiping my front left quarter panel. Police would not come out. Saying because both cars were drivable. I tried to report the incident to Appollo Garbage Company. The one lady has a real nasty attitude. Didn't believe what I was explaining. Wasn't trying to hear what I was saying. Over talking me. And real over bearing. I couldn't deal with her. So I decided to call BBB on their fraudulent so called Company. The guy tried to act like it was my fault until I said he crossed the yellow solid lines and hit me. He even admitted to doing so. Sat up here and told me to say it was a hit and run. I should have knew it was gonna be some BS. My car was brand new. I couldn't do nothing but try to get my Daughter to school on time on top of all that so she wouldn't get a demerit or being late. And I'm leaving my comments to BBB about them. For Ever.

Claim denied

I got hit by one of their clients 2 weeks ago . I made a claim then 3 days later I called to see what’s going on with my claim and they told me that they’re denying to fix my car so I asked them for a denial letter so that my insurance can fix my vehicle and go after their client they said they needed claim number and police report I sent them that on Friday and was told I’d get the letter on Monday. Now it is Thursday and I still haven’t heard from them I called them and you know as usual when you try to call them it will take you at least an hour to speak to someone and they put you on hold for another 30-45 mins. Adilenne said she will have it for me on Friday Friday past n still I haven’t heard from them. They are the worst like you’re denying to repair my vehicle at least email me a denial letter so I can have things taken care of it really doesn’t take more than let’s say a day to write a letter

Apollo Casualty Company Auto Insurance Review from River Forest, Illinois

They are the worst insurance company I have ever encountered! I'm going to report them in hopes they get closed down and stop ripping people off. I had full coverage on my auto mobile for 2 years. Unfortunately, my vehicle caught on fire (reason unknown) and caused part of my aunts house to get damaged. During the whole claim process they verbally told me both, my car and aunt's house, would be covered. Eventually, they covered my car but refused to cover the damage to the house. They verbatim stated, "the insured (me) had no prior knowledge her vehicle would start on fire" as the reason of denial to cover damages. My question is, who would drive a car knowing it's going to start on fire? When I called to complain they said they weren't going to cover because I didn't intentionally cause the damage. Again, why would anyone intentionally cause their family's property to set on fire or intentionally cause an accident/damage period? I would not recommend this insurance company to my worst enemy. And Apollo, you have have a severe case of karma coming your way.

Stolen Camera Equipment out of car

On friday evening at about 6:00pm I arrived at my apt. on 70th st. and oglesby, in Chicago, IL. There was about $3,700 worth of camera equipment in my back seat and in my trunk. I hadn't left the house to do anything that night. The next morning I was planning to take the equipment back to DODD CAMERA. When I got to my car I saw there was a weird note in my windshield but at the time I didn't think anything of it. By the time I got ready to head to the camera store I noticed the cases the equipment was in wasn't in my car. I called the camera store and filed a police report and I am looking to be helped as much as possible. Please call back Jaraud Lott (708) 212 ****

Apollo casualty denied my legitimate claim

In January, 2009, a person insured with Apollo caused a car accident and admitted at 100% fault. This insurance company took its time to have its "so-called" investigation and denied our legitimate claim. As this insurance company is not a member of an arbitration board, other big insurance companies hesitate to take them to court for small claims. In turn, good and honest people like us keep on getting hurt by the crooked companies like Apollo, who have a pattern of not paying claims. Now is the time to put a complete stop to this type of illegal, unethical and criminal mind set behaviour of an insurance company. Please join me and others to bring a common suit against Apollo Casualty Comapany doing business in Illinois and other states to face up reality and responsibility. Write me/ e-mail me : Philakhani@***.com

Their driver has permanently ruined my knees and totalled my car...Almost 3 yrs. Later, even with a law suit they still haven't reimbursed us..They have to be in a politician's pocket...to get away with such disregard for the law...Our accident was so straight forward that the other even assumed fault at the scene!

Still they denied this claim. Going to file complaints with the IL. Attorney General's office and the IL dept.

of ins. And try to locate a law that will sue Apollo Casualty, themselves for violating the " unfair claims act of IL".

Well I just got into an accident with someone with this company, I'm reading all of these comments.. This is fuckedddup, I don't know how but this company will pay 10grand left to pay for my car if not I'm Going to get this dude to pay.

I have 2 witnesses stating it was not my fault.had a passenger go to the hospital, This seems like its gonna be a big mess, which I Don't wanna deal with. I think the only way you can get these people to pay is if you annoy them with calls and check up on your Claim every so often.

College student with 2 jobs majoring in criminal justice. It's only getting started :sigh

We all have similar stories. The bottom line is to have any action at all, we need to make the lawmakers aware of the unjust acts.

We need to bombard the Illinois Department of Insurance with the continued complaints.

At some point the injustice has to stop. I too was hit by a drunk driver insureed with Apollo, they denied my claim too bottom line, I won't stand for anything less than my deductable back...let's fight the nonsense!

@PissedConsumer357354

If any driver is DUI, than legally any ins. isn't responsible.

This is a law, wchich isn't faviarable to the victims... So for what the world insurance stand for?

#356841

This is completely a sham company!!!! A woman coming out of a liquor store on her phone hopped into her car and backed in to me when I was PARKED.

The Police officer showed up and advised me to "try" and get any where with Apollo as he had personally filed a claim with them after he had been hit by a Apollo insured driver and they screwed him. What a complete joke.

How is this company allowed to remain in business??????? PISSED!

#350890

Correction to my last entry....Since I didn't appear for the "Witness" hearing, it does NOT mean their policyholder was NOT at fault since he received a ticket. My insurance co requested Apollo's limits, Apollo refused.

My insurance company sent the claimant a letter, no reply. From what we have heard Apollo usually carries 20/40 liability limits. As a previous posted comment on this site, I provided a copy of the police report and 17 scene photos of the accident. I work for an insurance co (Homeowners) and took the time to take photo's to document the stop sign the Apollo driver ran, along with photo's of both vehicles.

All of this was provided to Apollo Casualty.

If you go on the Ins Commissioner site....2008 Apollo Casualty had 108 Complaints...107 were due to claims and 1 for policy service... res ipsa loquitur!

#350876

An Apollo Casualty driver turned left off of a side road hitting my work van. The driver appeared to have tried to leave the scene.

But his and my car was diabled. The policeman tried obtaining a statement from the driver and he kept making comments that the police called him out on. Then the driver said he bumped his head and didn't remember anything. The Apollo driver received a ticket.

I was driving a company vehicle and was injured. Apollo sent me a request for the name of my representative, then three days later sent a denial letter. Reason, their policyholder stated I hit him. I brought to their attention, their policyholder was issued a ticket.

They replied, since the Witness (me-who lives in FL) did not appear, the ticket was dropped. I stated that still does not prove he was at fault. So, now I assume I have to obtain an attorney for the liability. Any sugguestions of anything else I can do other than filing a complaint?

From other comments, a complaint doesn't appear to help. Where does "Bad Faith" claim handling come into play?

#321793

Owner of Apollo Casualty Co. car accident liability policy caused car accident with severe damage to the car he collided with (police car accident repot).

Extend of damage was estimated by employee of Apollo.

Apollo issued written note to the owner of damaged car “Until our investigation is complete we will neither accept nor deny liability and/or coverage. We will notify you of our decision when we have completed our investigation.” It is already one full month and there is no completion of investigation.

The car is not drivable. Frustrated.

Once I heard that the guy that hit me in the rear had apollo, I know I was screwed. After 4 weeks of them saying that they hadn't heard back from their client about him hitting me and not having the police report I decided to do the work myself.

The police report had been available two weeks which I paid to get a copy of and sent to them. After another week of them investigating the police report, they cut me a check for 70% of the damages. Base on the word of their client, I was 30% responsible for the accident b/c I slammed on my breaks. That's interesting b/c the car in front of me and myself were stopped for at least 5 sec before I was rear ended and pushed into her.

Oh, lets not forget that he was on his cell phone while driving. Apollo sucks. Then they give me a check for a fraction of what it really costs to repair my car and tell me that if I take it to a shop that's not on their list, I'll have to pay all additional costs.

The shops they work with are just as terrible at fixing cars as they are at insuring them. Now I has to sue this guy to get the difference in the car repairs.

Don't want to pay out

I was stopped at a red light waiting for it to change green. While waiting a vehicle reared-ended my vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle is insured through this cheap insurance comapny named Apollo casualty compony. I immediately called 911 and had a Chicago Police Officer come to the scene. Both of us were told to go to the station and file a accident report there by the Officer. The Officer at the station took our information down and told us that the insurance company would determine who was at fault. the next day I called his insurance comapny to file a claim. I received a form to fill out asking how the acident occurred. This gave this idoit plenty of time to think about a lie to write in his statement. He stated that I came to a sudden stop and was basically at fault. Of course they were going to take his statement into consideration over mines since he was insured through the cheap insurance company that don't want to pay out. The settlement reflected an offer based on 70% liability due to this statement that I made a sudden stop. Which was a lie. And by the way if I was to make a sudden stop, he would still be 100% at fault for following to close. He should have gotten a ticket from the police Officer if that was the case. I am glad he did slight damage to my vehicle and he nearlt totaled out his. So my advice is that Apollo casualty company is a cheap money hungry insurance company that doesn't want to pay out. I am in the process of having my insurance company fight this issue for me and sue them. :-) Ha Ha!

Phil, good point on your comment written 8/1/09. I live in FL but had an accident in Lisle, IL on 7/29/11.

The other driver who was at fault and was issued a ticket.

He was insured by Apollo Casualty. Apollo is denying my claim stating their policyholder said, "I hit him." It does appear the President of this Company, Marvin Himmelstein, has a good working relationship with the IL Goverment and Insurance Commissioner or he would be out of business.

#64001

You are right in saying Apollo was a cheap money hungry insurance company. Despite so many complaints against this company, the Govt.insurance department and the Attorney General's office are not taking action.

Look like corruption has gone out of roof and penetrated in all the departments also. By the way, did your insurance company fight for you? Most companies won't bother if claims are small. This way the other insurance companies also perpetuating the criminal misbehaviour of Apollo.

It seems like that is the way the insurance industry work. They don't care about the consumers. They have to just jack up insurance premiums and ultimately we, the customers have to pay. The economic and sociel impacts are so high, it's high time to put a stop to this type of criminal behaviour in the insurance industry.

The Govt.

made it compulsory to have auto insurance, but do not have any control over the fixation of premium or any directives. The loop holes are enormous and totally based on preying on consumers.
