Unprofessional Moving Company

Apartment Movers - Unprofessional Moving Company
Apartment Movers - Unprofessional Moving Company - Image 2

In March of 2015, The Apartment Movers completed a one-bedroom apartment move for me in the Dallas area. They arrived about 3:30 even though I was scheduled for a morning move. One of the movers took several smoke breaks. The other mover kept taking personal calls on his cell phone which slowed him down. (After the move, I was told by the first guy that he had picked up the second guy off the side of the road. He was a day laborer and wasn't even an employee.) This caused my move to take longer than it should have and we ended up running into rush hour traffic, which prolonged the move even more. They complained several times that I had a lot of stuff and moved slowly.

I noticed scratches on the back of my couch, and mud and debris on the front of my couch at the end of my move when the movers brought my couch in. I asked the mover what it was and I stated that it looked like wet mud all over my couch. He stated that the tarp he put over the couch had mud on it. It was the same tarp that he had used to cover the ramp leading up to the trailer. Please note that it was raining that day. There were huge footprints on the couch where you could actually see the tread pattern from the sole of the shoe. They also scraped the back of the couch on the railing as they were bringing it up the stairs. They also scraped up one of my ottomans very badly.

I filed the claim exactly as instructed on March 3rd by email, along with pictures, with the claims manager. The claims manager said she had everything she needed and the claim was being processed on March 25th.

I called continuously and emailed and did not received a response back from the company. On May 18th I was told a different woman was handling claims and was given a different email address. I emailed her with no response. I called again on May 21 and was told I had the wrong email address, so I resent my email to that email address, with no response. When I called, the claims manager was not there or busy or in a meeting. I was repeatedly told that they would give her my messages and she would call back. I was also told I needed to communicate by email, which I did with no response. I also called during the day and they sometimes did not answer at all.

After numerous phone calls and emails they finally sent me a check, which I received on September 28, 2015. A whole six months later. And the check was for $25.00. All I asked for was money to get my couch cleaned. The sales rep instructed me to file the claim for the cleaning and all I got was $25. These people are unprofessional and untrustworthy. I have never had a bad moving experience. Next time I'll use Two Men and a Truck like I usually do.

I hired Apt Movers to move my furniture my time window was from 12-5. I took the day off to wait for them.

I called at 2 pm to confirm they were coming Felicia said yes your time window is 12-5. At 5 pm I still have not heard from them I called back and they told me that their truck broke down and had no one else to send out. Don't rely on this company!!!! They even said we don't reimburse for days off well they should since they didn't show up nor bothered to call me.

It was too late to find another moving company have to take another day off to wait for a different moving company. The Apartment Movers should reimburse for both days off.

Horrible Movers

I hired Apt. Movers to move my 2br condo to a 3br townhouse.

I had very little furniture but what I have is heavy and expensive. The move was supposed to be 2men and a truck. Only one man showed up. He kept saying the helper was on his way.

After 2hrs and him loading everything himself, no helper. We get to the new place and still no helper. My couch became logged in the front doorway, I had to assist bringing it in. The move took over 7hrs.

Furniture and drywall was damaged. I filed a claim and 30days later no response. I attempted to dispute my credit card charge and they were quick to respond to the credit card company and indicate I signed a contract. I have since resubmitted my dispute to the credit card company because these people do not deserve to be paid.

This company should not be in business.

It was the worst experience EVER!!!

Apartment Movers Screwed Up My Move

Updated by user Jun 24, 2012

I played along with their game for over 3 months. They kept promising me a check, but I never received anything even though the loss/damage person told me the check was waiting to be signed.

Absolutely the worst moving company I\'ve ever encountered and I have moved a LOT. I have read numerous complaints about this company and I\'m wondering if a class action suit might not make sense.

Original review Apr 12, 2012

I contracted with Apartment Movers to move no more than 15 miles. They showed up with a van that had furniture already in it in the front, so they didn't have enough room for all of my items.

Since I was paying them by the hour, I was not about to let them make a second trip. I took the balance of the items in my car. Secondly, they absolutely destroyed my $500 computer desk w/hutch. The driver took it to get it "fixed".

I have not seen it or the driver, Marco, since (almost 3 weeks). One of the movers, Tony, decided to carry chairs with the cushions resting on his head. The combination of sweat and hair oil stained the chair cushions. I have a cabinet in which I keep tools, etc.

In the course of manuvering it, they snapped off one of the legs. They somehow managed to break the bottom corner of a black, wood bookcase. They were pleased that they found the part on the truck. I supplied all of the information their clains manager wanted (the phone number he provided in his email connected with Global Edison in Dallas not Apartment Movers), but have not heard back.

I called them at 2:45 PM their local time and was told they are all "at lunch". I've sent numerous emails, but no response. I intend to take them to small claims court. I will follow this posting with the physical address for Apartment Movers (difficult to find) and the owner's name.

Small claims court cannot serve a summons to a PO Box.

I am retired military and on social security. This company, obviously, has no respect for their customers.

Apartment Movers Physical Address

Updated by user Apr 20, 2012

My bad. I have indicated the wrong Apartment Movers.

Apparently, there are actually 3 or 4 different Apartment Movers in the Dallas area.

The one that handled my move was A1 Apartment Movers in Tampa, FL which, I believe, is a contractor to The Apartment Movers, Inc. at:415 E Airport Freeway#400Irving, TX 75062Phone - 972-793-****My apologies to George Killick owner of the Apartment Movers in Richardson, TX.

Small claims courts cannot send subpoenas to PO Boxes. Apartment movers, apparently, takes great pains to hide their phyical address. I plan to take them to court and I am providing this information for others who have been manhandled by this firm. They managed to destroy almost $1,000 of my furniture including a large computer desk w/hutch valued at over $500. Their claims division has been totally non-responsive to any form of contact including email and phone calls. The claims manager even has a phone number on his emails (only received an initial form email) that connects to Global Edison in Dallas, not Apartment Movers.

The Apartment Movers - Horrible

The Apt movers ruined every piece of furniture I had as well as stole a $1900 piece of jewelry. In return for this great service I was called a liar and received a $500 check.

I have pictures of the damage as well as 3 witnesses to how the furniture was packed in the truck. Not one blanket was used to cover furniture and everything was stacked on top of each other. They were unprofessional and could have cared less about the damage.

They were payed upfront so they didn't care. This company should be out of business today.

The Apt Movers ripoff their own drivers. The drivers are independent contractors that dont get paid *** but yet the corporate office pocket all of the money from the customers.

The apt movers advertise that their drivers will get paid well especially if they own their own trucks. Gee let's see: driver gets only 33% and then out of that they have to pay their help 10% oh and lets not forget gas, insurance, and the full responsibility of potential damages that the corporate office takes out of the check without inquiring about what really happened on the moves. This company is not worth it to deal with. They have *** trailers and it is really filthy inside.

Horrible office management, poor communications between the dispatching and office manager. Gee how about checking the backgrounds of the people they have.

No Compensation for damage done by APARTMENT MOVERS

I made the unfortunate mistake of selecting APARTMENT MOVERS in Oct-2009. These people damaged not only my furniture but scratched my freshly installed hardwood floor right through the finish in every room they entered.

It was pitch dark when they finally concluded my move at quarter to eleven at night (I scheduled a morning pick up). I discovered the damage over the following days.

I filed a claim and was rejected because the paper they had me sign that night had fine print stating everything was satisfactory. They NEVER EVEN SENT AN ADJUSTER TO MY HOME TO LOOK. I was totally blown off by claims manager, Todd Carpenter.

Folks DO NOT USE APARTMENT MOVERS. My floor cost me almost $6000 and was installed just prior to moving in. This does not include the damage to my furniture. I was offered nothing by APARTMENT MOVERS – not even an apology.

Apartment Movers Arlington, TX-DON"T HIRE!

Don't hire a company called "Apartment Movers" located in the Mid City area, Arlington, TX. They destroyed some of my furniture and stole my new (less than 6 months old) clothes dryer.

I did, after 2 months, get my dryer back, but it was in bad condition. The movers took furniture apart that should not have been taken apart, plus they lost the screws. I don't know how they could possibly still be in business.

The manager told me he fired the movers who moved me, but I still wouldn't trust Apartment Movers. Check around and read good reviews on Whitepages.com.
