Hey there, I really never do anything like this, but I really couldn't let this one fly. Angies List is the biggest rip off I've encountered in a while. Their website is the OPPOSITE of user friendly, and half of their links don't work. It's like navigating a site...View full review
How many folks are having issues with Angies list referral services?
Hello there folks, How many folks are having issues with Angies list referral services? On or about a year ago today a representative solicited a call to me for a three month trial to Angies list referral service. Although I thanked him for his time and informed him my sons do my advertising on line as they are both web designers, he still persisted saying what have you to lose, he said please give us an opportunity for three months to earn your trust, if you are not 100 percent satisfied simply cancel. He was pushy but courteous and polite, so I agreed. After the three months I inform an Angies list rep by phone I wished to cancel their services. They said that hated to see go and that the fella who contacted me was no longer with them however they would honor his commitment. It has been over a year with a minimum of 5 phone calls to Angie list representative along with at least 4 managers all of whom have assured me that my listing and billings would be canceled. Angies list continued to bill me through my Visa credit card. I have filed fraud with Bank of America 3 times and have finally had to resort to canceling a visa card to finally stop the fraud and harassment from Angies list referral service. I have now received a letter from collection agencies which states I owe Angies list $200 dollars for past services. I have been in Business for 30 years and have yet to stumble on or be conned and cheated and annoyed to this nature, which borders on criminal and fraud. How many other small business owner have suffered the same type of harassment case such as mine and are there any attorneys willing to open a class action suit against Angies list if so please contact me. It not the money I am concerned with it’s the fraud which goes far beyond the measurement in money in true and honest business practices. Kirk Giordano
Angies List in Los Angeles, California - Poor list hardly any companies on it
It seems like a total scan...considering how long it has been around and all the advertising it does....and it has such a tiny list for most contractor categories AND most of the ones listed have ONLY ONE REVIEW!!!! which means only ONE customer is giving you information about the listed contractor. And then of course the very nature of web recommendations is impossible to verify....so it could by anyone (company owners even) writing something positive OR negative about a competitor. Seems like a good idea---but there needs to be some way to validate a "review" It seems like a total scan...considering how long it has been around and all the advertising it does....and it has such a tiny list for most contractor categories AND most of the ones listed have ONLY ONE REVIEW!!!! which means only ONE customer is giving you information about the listed contractor. August 27 2012 I noticed a competitor using Fake Home Improvement numbers on Angies List. I got curious and checked the Maryland’s State business charter, to my surprise they were “Not In Good Standing” and their business license was “Forfeited” as well as not being a...View full review
Angies List - Angie's List is no better than other scam sites.
I signed up for Angie's List months ago to check it out. They had no listings within 50 miles of me, and when I entered my address I was told I lived in the smallest of 4 communities within our county. Then, I was inundated with emails. When I went to unsubscribe, the button mysteriously glitched everytime I moused over it. Upon seeking to cancel my account, I found out I had to call or email them. I emailed, requesting that my account be deleted. I was told that my account "would not be renewed" and that since their email lists are "prepopulated" (read: sold to third parties), I might continue to receive emails. I'm currently waiting to find out if my account is going to be canceled, or if it's going to remain "active" in their database for another 5 months so that they can get advertising dollars off of their number of users. Even when you don't have to pay for it, it's a scam.
Angies List in Broomfield, Colorado - Cancellation
I too am having problems cancelling Angie's list. I filed a complaint with my bank and they reversed the charge but said if it came up again, it would go through. I am now in the process of filing a complaint with the BBB to put them on notice. The heating company that I contracted with because they had excellent reviews on Angie's list charged more than they quoted and turned out to a horrible company. Can someone tell me how in the heck I get this cancelled? What really irks me is I had signed up for a ONE month membership and never agreed to monthly.
Angies List in Las Vegas, Nevada - Scam
It's just another money making scheme. Here's the thing.. any company can join and get in there and slam their competition. So any review, anywhere can be a LIE since there are many companies who enjoy slamming their competition to drive the business THEIR way. So it may be that you are avoiding a very good company because their competition manipulated you into calling them. The best place to go for a referral is your friends, relatives, and co-workers. NOT strangers. And as we all know, there are crazy people that post bad reviews. I joined Angie's list for a brief period of time and was NOT impressed.
I had received an email saying they could not process my renewal payment. I called their number, waited a ridiculous amount of time and ended up having a web chat. i explained why I was unhappy and said to cancel my service. The person said it would be cancelled...View full review
Angies List in Battle Ground, Washington - Angie's list has careless billing practices
I had signed up for Angies List last year and did not want to renew, so just let it lapse. Today, in checking my credit card bill on line, I noticed a charge from Angie's List on my credit card. I called Angie's List and the woman I talked with told me that I had gone online to renew my membership. I told her that I had done no such thing! I requested that she remove all of my information. This appears to me to be either dishonest or just very careless on the part of Angie's List.
Angies list is a scam
Angies list works out these deals of the day with companies. I paid $119 for this deal only to get a run around from the contractor and a waste of six weeks. When I placed a negative review, angies list refused to post the F rating. I can see from other sites that there are new people from angies list getting stuck by this same contractor. Angies list is still offering a "deal" with this contractor despite the F ratings and reviews. Angies list was created to provide honest reviews but can't when they go into business with vendors and contractors. I would not recommend angies list because they are not impartial.
