Angies List in Boston, Massachusetts - No relevant service providers in my area

I don't have anything positive to say about Angie's List. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. We were getting ready for a basement remodel in 2011, and wanted to get contractor reviews in the Boston area. What a joke! Most of the contractors we interviewed either refused to be associated with Angie's List, or had paid to be listed but then quit because of the lack of positive response. I stupidly signed up for 2 years, but never got any value from the service. It was truly disappointing. After many months, I just received one of their booklets in the mail. This prompted me to see if I was still paying for this bogus service. Turns out, after the initial 2-year subscription (*** & cheap me), yes, they had successfully charged my expired AMEX card for a third year, and were getting ready to charge me for a fourth! Unbelievable! I went on line to their website today, and found that unsubscribing was a true pain. I will know later this month if they were able to charge my credit card again, but I won't be surprised if they are successful. I find this company to be of little to no value, deceitful, and willing to prey on the uninformed. Consumer beware!!!

Angies List - Overall rip off!

I joined Angie's List when we were redoing our kitchen. I found very few reviews in our area that would help. The fee was only $12 so I wasn't too upset. A year later, my credit card was charged $29 for the next year. I did not know it would automatically be charged. I called and after coercion, they said they would refund my money for this year. It is a month later, and my money still has not been refunded. I called twice. They said it is because of the banks. Yesterday, I wrote to them again. If you try to write via the internet, you immediately get plugged into their live chat. The person said my account was cancelled, but was wishy washy about my refund. I told them that if I didn't get a credit immediately, I was posting on the internet. I also filed a complaint with my credit card company.

Angies list does not follow up on negative reviews.

Anyone who joins or not can give a review of a company. Bad experience when a client (who by the way signed up off on a contract job stating how great everything looked) wrote a bad review when it came time to pay our company for the completed services. Contacted Angie's List discussed that our company could prove reviewer had signed off on completed project and started how great it looked. They would not entertain looking at documents or reversing review. Shame on Angie's List they have a responsibility to look at damaging reviews and make sure their members are informed correctly

Angies List - It's all about Angie's commissions & dues.Period

Myself, an interior designer & a friend with 3 retail stores, all highly recommended by iur clients, wanted to be listed. A. We would told we needed to "Join" i.e pay a membership . By the way no questions about our credentials..which we both have. B. We would need to have our clients 'Join".(pay the memebership yearly. in order to post their reviews. C. I recommended my dentist to join. She told me that Angie's commission for leads was not worth the membership. D..that's their rating. Folks, you can get the same leads by googling your needs and asking to see reviews.

Angies List - Pricing Scam for Members

4.0
Details
Be Warned! If you are paying more then 30$ a year your paying too much! I have been a member for years paying 70$ each year. Now they have the same exact subscription for just 30$. Once I found this out I tried calling to adjust to this price, cause I don't really need to have this service, but if I'm keeping it I want the cheapest price. The call is what really made me angry. The rep didn't even offer the new prices until I started getting upset and basically told me that THEY WILL NOT OFFER IT TO YOU FIRST! YOU HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT IT!? What kind of scam are they running that existing customers have to know about the price changes in order to benefit but anyone new gets the cheaper offer? Talk about rewarding customer loyalty. I got all my money back, but this is what the rep ended up telling me... Local Home or just the Health list was 10$. They made sure to keep reinforcing that its "online only", but I wouldn't want to sit through another terrible phone conversation with them again. Both lists was only 30$ and was "nationwide" which just meant the extra $20 I was paying for another area was useless now too... You have to inform yourself or you will pay, literally.

Angies List - Angie's got my money and I can't get it back

After trying to find contractors in a rural area outside of San Francisco, I gave up and joined Angie's List. Instantly one of their daily Deals popped up offering a special on exactly the service I needed most; I booked and paid for the service and waited for contact. I received a very prompt email from the contractor explaining that they did not perform service in my area - despite a good review within 5 miles of my house, and the fact that the Deals are advertised as only available for purchase if my zip code was within the service area. I called Customer Service and was offered a refund, or to have Angie's List personnel search for another reputable contractor in my area who would honor the Deal - I need the service and so chose the alternate contractor option. After a week of waiting for contact from Angie's List, I called back in yesterday to request the refund option at which point in time I was told it would be 7-10 BUSINESS days for the refund to process - they had charged my account within minutes, but were keeping my money for up to three weeks! I'm glad I had paid via debit rather than credit - at least I saved the interest charge. In addition, the CSR repeatedly requested that I rate the contractor - even without service provided -- I did give them an "A" for the promptness of the email telling me they would not be honoring the deal.

Angies List in Denver, Colorado - Review in *** for 6 months & not approved

I have 5 reviews that I have written on contractors I've used since Feb 2014 and wrote each of them the week I used the contractors and NONE have been approved by Angie's List yet. I have about 7 others that I've written in 2012 and 2013 that are all approved. When I called to ask why the holdup on 2014 reviews, they tell me that they are redoing the website and all reviews are in a holding pattern. That makes no sense!!! Who take the main function of your business offline while redoing the web code? Also, if true, this means I am not seeing the latest ratings from my neighbors who are using these same contractors and getting "recent" reports of their performance.

My Angie's List membership expired last year(2013) and I chose not to renew it. However, I noticed two $29 charges on my credit card for renewals. I received refunds for both charges, and was told they had no idea why I was continuing to be charged. In April of this...
