Verified Reviewer |URGENT: Formal Complaint – Sugar Land GM, Sales Misrepresentation & $112.55 Cancellation Charge
- - The Sugar Land promo was misrepresented: guest access, recovery amenities, and cancellation terms.
- - Cancellation balance rose to 112.55 without explanation.
Hello,
My name is Aayan Jahangir (Agreement #404580****), and I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my experience with the Sugar Land location.
I joined Amped Fitness through the $1 Founders Promotion after speaking with one of your sales representatives at the mall. Before I signed up, I was told:
* Guests could come anytime.
* Recovery amenities (massage chairs, hot/cold room, etc.) would be available whenever the gym was open.
* If I canceled before my first month, I would only be charged the $1.08 promotional fee with absolutely no fees.
Within 5 days of the club opening, I discovered that:
* Guests are not allowed after 8:00 PM.
* Many recovery amenities also close around 8:00 PM.
* When I requested to cancel because the membership was not what had been represented to me, I was told I would owe approximately $84.
The way the General Manager handled the situation was even more disappointing than the charges themselves.
When I calmly explained that I was canceling because your salesperson had provided inaccurate information, instead of trying to understand the situation, he dismissed everything I said and treated me as though I was making it up. During our conversation, he made comments including:
* Sorry I can't let your friends come in for free.
* If you and your friends can't spend $15 on your health, that's not my issue.
* You're just trying to wear me out so you don't have to pay the fees.
At no point was I asking for anything free. I was asking Amped Fitness to honor the representations that were made to me before I agreed to sign up.
What concerns me even more is that my cancellation paperwork now shows a balance of $112.55, despite being told during cancellation that my total would be approximately $84. I have not received any explanation for why the amount increased.
Additionally, my cancellation form lists my reason for canceling as Declined to Comment. This is inaccurate. I spent approximately 10-15 minutes explaining that I was canceling because the membership had been misrepresented during the sales process. My concerns were simply not documented.
This experience reflects serious communication issues between your sales team and your club staff. If multiple customers are being told different things than what the club actually honors, that is something that should be addressed.
I am requesting the following:
1. A review of my cancellation and the $112.55 balance.
2. An itemized breakdown explaining every charge and the section of my membership agreement authorizing each one.
3. A review of the conduct of the Sugar Land General Manager during my cancellation.
4. A review of the sales practices used to promote the Founders memberships at the mall.
5. A waiver of these charges in light of the misinformation I relied on when joining.
I hope Amped Fitness will take this complaint seriously and resolve this matter professionally. If not, I will have no choice but to pursue other avenues available to me as a consumer.
Thank you,
Aayan Jahangir

Verified Reviewer |Harassment by debt collector when I didn’t sign a contract a they can’t provide me one
- - Phone harassment by a firm claiming Amped.
- - No contract signed; I stayed with Crunch.
- - I was billed in collections for something I didn't sign.
I am being harassed all the time by phone and text by a company saying they represent Amped Fitness. I did not sign a contract.
I stayed with Crunch, not Amped. Why am I being billed and sent to collections for something I didn't sign for? Even worse, I can't get through to anyone at Amped to help, either.
This seems like a scam being run by Amped after they flopped at the new location. I want a call and proof from Amped that I signed a contract and agreed to do so.
- Does not list their phone numbers to call
- No listed customer service number
- Overpriced
Preferred solution: I want to stop the harassing calls and erase the “debt” collection that can’t produce a contract that I signed.
User's recommendation: Do NOT go to Amped Fitness, especially if they have a “lawyer’s” office harass you all day and night to pay a debt they can’t produce a contract for. Don’t add your email or phone number anywhere, either.
Triple Charge and taking money from my account
I was double charged a start up fee got my money back then was charged again by them for the start up fee plus a late fee and I have to fight just to get the money back that I am deserved. They are able to just pull money from your account with no explanation of why they are doing it.

Verified ReviewerCharged for a session when my trainer knows I already left
- - Moved to a new city; trainer didn't respond.
- - A month later she booked a session as if I hadn't quit.
- - I'm seeking a refund; my number is blocked.
I moved to a different city even let my trainer know never got a response back but a month later she book a training session as if I didn't just say I won't be returning, I'm currently working on getting a refund but but number is now blocked tired of being transparent in this situation I explained myself enough already I've left my phone number and haven't received a phone call back I wasn't trying to be that one annoying angry customer but at this point they're too comfortable getting away with things, when I first started I wanted to upgrade to premium membership somehow the representative at the time in one ear and out the other when it became a convenience and I had ask what error occurred they simply said I never upgraded at all... It's cringe how much of a Degrassi vibes goes on in there .

Verified Reviewer |Stress
- - Billing issues; overcharged multiple times and poor follow-up.
- - Requests: billing history review, refunds, and corrected charges.
Dear Amped Fitness Team,
I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding the ongoing billing issues with my training sessions. I became an Amped Fitness member in December after receiving frequent calls encouraging me to enroll in training sessions. I agreed to join; however, since then I have consistently experienced problems with my billing. I have been overcharged multiple times over the past months.
I have already spoken with staff members and managers at the gym on several occasions to try to resolve this matter. Unfortunately, the issue continues, and I have spent a significant amount of my personal time following up. Instead of being able to come to the gym to relax and reduce stress, this situation has caused me additional frustration.
What is most concerning is the lack of follow-up. Each time I raise the issue, I am told it will be resolved, but I end up having to contact the gym again because none follow up or correct the billing problem.
This issue has even affected my personal time during my vacation, as I had to continue calling to try to resolve the matter.
At this point, I am requesting:
A full review of my billing history.
A refund for any overcharges.
Confirmation that my billing will be corrected moving forward.
I would appreciate a prompt response and a clear resolution to this issue as soon as possible.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

- Unprofessional management
- Coco the trainer is amazing
Preferred solution: To comply with the contract, I signed.
Frustration
- - The gym looks nice and spacious.
- - Removing heavy weights is a no-go.
- - The environment is stressful and not welcoming; the membership is expensive.
I think the gym looks nice, theres a lot of space, but having to remove heavy weights is a no for me. Also, its a rather stressful environment.
Maybe because its new and not everyone is friendly and welcoming. Not to mention the reason why I signed an agreement with the most expensive membership is so that my son and I could work out together, but instead, I have to pay for a separate membership for himcrazy huh?
User's recommendation: Join a gym that is clear on who you can let in

Verified ReviewerGym access
- - Entry requires an iPhone app, causing delays.
- - Despite paying for a year membership, entry is difficult without staff at the door.
Every time I try to get into the gym I have to wait for another customer to let me in. Access is controlled by Iphone app access.
I'm unable to get this information on my phone.I think Amped Fitness should make it possible to get this information at the very least to It's paid members. I paid for a years' membership easily enough but still find it very difficult to get into a gym unless there is someone near the door.

Verified ReviewerFees and penalties
- - Door access is handled by a separate company and is unreliable after hours.
- - A $500 cancellation fee and unused trainer charges were billed.
Ive been going to your gym since you open in February the front door, which is all to open, which is a separate company than you guys which I find very weird. They are not fixing it.
It still has issues for many customers not just me or you pay your monthly fee you still cant get in after hours but the real issue while while Im emailing you guys I havent used my trainer for over six months due to a medical issue that I have to spend a lot of money on. I was gonna cancel and I made my awareness to the manager about that and he said theres a $500 cancellation fee that was hidden that Ive never seen before and nobody ever told me and I owe $108 multiplied by six for every two weeks training, but I never used any of those training. I think this is highly wrong and bad unethical business practice, especially since this is your first location in Tennessee Ive worked out in many other gyms in Tennessee and they dont have these policies that are terrible and if youre gonna say that, youre 24 seven but your outside door company doesnt work thats on you. Youre basically lying to people.
Its not 24 seven thats false advertisement. Im considered getting a lawyer because of that alongside the issue of me having to pay false charges that Ive never actually used my trainer for, and I got proof on my phone of my cancellation of each training session that nobody reached out to me to rebook or Reschedule. I need a district manager or somebody to call me and let me know what they can do to resolve the situation before I cancel my membership altogether. There are plenty of gyms.
I dont need to go to this one no matter how fancy it is. You guys have a lot of bad business practices.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Do not sign up for any training or fitness here and only do the basic membership because the more premium membership they don’t tell you that the infrared sauna can only handle one person at a time and they have two of them and one of them sometimes doesn’t even work or get hot. I had to unplug the machine myself so a lot of false advertising with this company including the training that if you ever cancel on your trainer, you have to pay a $500 fee plus you have to pay for a couple extra training session that you did didn’t even use.
