America's Kids Store in Raleigh, NC- Inappropriate Setting

Today (10/30/2012) I visited the America's Kids store located on New Bern Ave. in Raleigh, NC with my two children ages 8 and 3.

Almost as soon as I entered the store and began shopping, I noticed that the store music that was playing loudly over the intercom was extremely vulgar and inappropriate for a children's store. I had never heard the song before, but after researching the lyrics I found out that the song was called "Panty Wetter" by Trey Songz. As fast as I could possibly move to the closest employee, I politely requested that the music be changed because I felt that it was not appropriate for my children to listen to while we shopped, and because it was not appropriate for a children's store- period! The employee was very polite and quickly called out to the store manager to please change the song.

The song was never changed, and then I realized that it was actually an entire album being played, because the next song was called "Dive In" by Trey Songz...again, inappropriate. When I went to the front to check out, I requested to speak to the manager myself. As I explained to him my concerns, he told me that this was the sort of music that had always been played in the store (which it wasn't b/c I shop there frequently), and that it was being streamed from online. When I told him that kid-friendly music could be streamed from the internet also, he just looked at me as if I was not making any sense to him, and still did not attempt to change the music.

In fact, he returned to walking around the store as if I had not said anything at all. What kind of a children's store plays songs about making panties wet when the majority of the consumers of the store are shopping with their kids? It was the rudest and most disrespectful experience I have ever had while shopping. Not only do I feel that I was disrespected by the manager, but he showed blatant disrespect to my kids as well.

I have every intention of informing the community about this matter until someone addresses it. I have left messages for the corporate office, and have still not yet received a call back since this morning.

Maybe you should do the right thing and say something about it, too. Or will you be ignorant like A;q and just not care? Hopefully, you don't take your kids in the store with you to shop and jam off vulgar sex songs if you choose not to care.

I could care less if they miss my shopping there or not, as long as they put some policies in place for the next shopper to benefit from. Why bother to comment if you obviously don't care about the issue, or did you just suddenly wake up and desperately feel the need to display your ignorance for all to see?
