Poorly Crafted, Ill-fitting "custom" dash kit

I ordered at chrome dash kit for my 2014 Volt online and had a followup conversation with an employee at American Truck N' Auto Accessories who assured me of the quality of their products. Since NO PHOTOGRAPHS are included on their website, I trusted the advertising remarks and shelled out $192 for the kit.

Once the kit arrived I arranged for a professional installer to apply the kit to my dash. After he put 5 of the 30 pieces on he advised me that the kit was not remotely close in design or quality to any of the one he had installed on over 100 cars and trucks. He advised that it be sent back to the manufacturer.

AMERICAN TRUCK N' ACCESSORIES refused my request for a refund. As of today (6/6/2014) I have returned the kit and filed a complaint with the BBB. BUYER BEWARE

Mr.Abbott, When you called, we accurately described the dash kit to you and answered all your questions. At this time, we do not have any pictures of this particular kit installed in your model.

You decided to order the kit knowing this. We offer samples on our website and you could have easily asked for a sample first but you did not. What astounds us the most is that you started and continued to install the kit which you obviously didn't like, and then turn around and want to send it back. Our policies clearly indicate that we cannot accept partially installed kits because they cannot be re-sold.

As for some pieces not fitting correctly, the instructions state that we recommend dry fitting the pieces before installation which would have brought to light any issues before permanent installation. I checked with our manufacturer and they state they have had no issues with this kit.

We are more than happy to address your issues and responded to your email by asking for your co-operation in sending some pictures but you refused to do any thing that we asked of you.

2-11-12: AMERICAN TRUCK N' AUTO ACCESSORIES Received Defective Product:" WOW" Dash Trim Kit. It did not fit as advertised.

Got the run-around, Took Picture, 4) E-mails, Paid $55 + $10 freight + $10 return freight + $25 re-stock charge + $10 processing fee = $110 Expect $20 credit, GEE! DON'T DO IT ! Find a Company that stands behind their products. This is not one.

Sandy of Customer Service did everything her employer could think of to discourage the return. Multiple E-mails over weeks, stern instructions for re-packaging, ridiculous charges and fees, multiple requests for return authorization, etc.

What you have written is completely unfair and untrue. By your own admission, you ordered the wrong grille for your truck!! Of course it doesn't fit correctly! We made every effort to help you but you didn't respond to us. The part was unexpectedly out of stock when you placed your order. Our inventory was being updated at that time. We called and informed you of the exact status.

If you’re going to use the word "Liar", at least learn to spell it correctly.

Mike is a lair, the customer service is closer to *** than anything else. i order a grill that looked perect online but when it came in it looked like something completly different that what i was shown, the grill which was an overlay didnt even cover the existing grill on my car.

Also mike promised me the shipping in 2-5 days the box came in after 2 weeks of waiting.

this company does not provide what it advertises, AMERICAN TRUK N' ACCESORIES IS NOT A RELIABLE COMPANY. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM.

David, in response to your post, I would like to answer your complaint and set the record straight.

1) We do stand behind our products. We offered to replace the defective part but you refused and purchased an alternative elsewhere.

2) You did not get any type of run around from us, we were very clear in our communication with you and the information we requested.

3) We did not discourage the return. We did everything we possibly could to help you and accommodate the return. Yes it took multiple emails, but this is the case sometimes when working out issues. We like to be clear and concise so we issue very clear instructions on how to return - not stern, just clear. Our records show we responded to your first return request email soon after we received it.

4) As of the date of this post, we STILL have not received the part back from you. As for the figures you show in your post, I have no idea where you came up with these and they are completely wrong. This case is not even closed yet.
