There is Another Way to deal with your tax debt

Okay so we went through them too!!! Chris Hanna was our lawyer and we did nt even get to tt him. So after realizing that this was a mistake, and it wasnt even my debt it was my husbands, we talked to our tax preparer and she suggested that we call the IRS and deal with them directly, we have a house two old vehicles and 1 motorcyle, my husband didnt want to lose anything, he was deathly afaid that if he called the IRS they were just going to take everything and imprision him, and leave his wife behind with 3 kids!! That is not what happened at all and he even owes 150,000.00--okay heres how we handled it...He called the IRS to set up a Payment Plan he suggested we could pay 250.00 a month--IRS accepted this plan and setup said plan--if you make a pymt plan with the IRS they WILL NOT LEVEY YOUR ASSETS there will be one put on but they will not take it as long as you make your agreed pymts--also there is a statue of Limitaions on all tax debt 10 yrs my hubby owed from 00-07---00 has fallen off due to the 10yrs statue and 01 as of next year--IRS cannot take your assets if pymt plan is made it is illeagal for them to levey if you make your agreed pymts--tt your tax preparer ours gave us this info and more.......

Beware of American Tax Relief

In 2006-**** I payed American Tax Relief $3999 to help with my tax debt. They got me payments set up for $145.00 monthly. Now that my debt is satisfied all except for late charges and I need their help. They will not return my calls, answer my calls. NOTHING? So Take my honest advise and never call them. I think I am going to write a letter to the voice of the people to warn any one that might be thinking about using them. I even @ one time demanded my money back from them about 1 year ago & they would not do that either.

American Tax Relief

I had invested heavily into Boeing right before 9/11 (my prayers go out to those lost). even though i lost everything i invested and then some i still was sent notification i was being taxed because at one point my shares were a substantial gain to me.After seeing the commercial for American Tax Relief i called them up to see what they could do for me. I was told through offer in Compromise that they could reduce my 90k that i owed the IRS to only 3 grand. Fantastic! The two payments of $7,500 seemed like a steal if they could save me that much money. Steal is RIGHT! They wanted all sorts of paper work to aid them in working on my case, and they always seemed to need it within the next day. i did my best to make sure that i sent them everything i could in order to make the process go more smoothly. after 3 months and $15,000 there was an unauthorized draft from my bank account for $3,500. I immediately called and asked what this was about. Apparently the IRS rejected the Offer in Compromise they submitted and needed another $3,500 to "re-open" my case. WHAT?! do you mind telling me when you are going to draft my account, or at least fail at what you were supposed to do?! i thought it was too late anyway so i told them to go ahead and "re-open" my case After another 3 months re sending all the paperwork that i ALREADY SENT THEM another $1,200 was drafted from my account!!!!! WHAT THE ***?!?! HOW CAN THEY JUST TAKE MY MONEY!!! how can this company just keep taking my money without my CONSENT?! they have literally stolen $4,700 from me! And the $15,000 they took initially for one didn't get the job done! so after almost $20,000 THEY HAVE DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! So i called the IRS and they told me that my offer in Compromise was denied in November and no other contact has been had since. NOVEMBER!!!!! ATR had taken money the cost to "re-open" from me in February! THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND DID....???? all my money went to finance their *** commercials so they could scam more people like me! I finally got this issue RESOLVED when i contacted the accounting firm that my brother uses for his corporate accounting. (i didn't go to them in the first place because i thought they would be to expensive since they do corporate accounting for billion dollar companies) HA they charged me literally a fraction of what American Tax Relief did. AND reduced my debt to only 8k! NOT an Offer in Compromise like American Tax Relief said, i make to much income to qualify for that (obviously why the IRS denied my OIC initially)But they were able to eliminate ALL of the interest and penalties and had my debt reassessed based on my investment and NOT on what the Potential Gaines were. They actually have a department for consumers, not just corporate accounting i guess, 877-517-**** is their number. Talk to Dave, he's the guy who helped me. Does anyone know of how i can get my money back from American Tax Relief?? is there a class action suit i can join. Anything would help. If you are reading this and need tax help DO NOT USE AMERICAN TAX RELIEF! They are a complete SCAM and will steal your money!!! if you can't do it yourself, check out settlewiththeirs.info that's the firm i used(that's their site for regular consumers who have tax problems). I knew American Tax Relief had a few complaints, but i thought it was a numbers thing, Disney Land has complaints etc., but American Tax Relief doesn't even know how to help you! it seems like they tell everyone that they're entitled to an offer in compromise. complete LIES!!! on the IRS site they even state that over 90% of OIC's are Denied! Should have listened to my brother in the first place.

It appears that dear charles owed taxes on $90,000. He contacted a rip-off company to get out of paying his taxes on $90,000. The rip-off company screwed him and apparently still owes taxes on $90,000.

I think I get it Pecker-Neck.

So now after paying almost $20,000 to get out of paying taxes on $90,000, Sir Charles has nothing to show for it but a tax bill on $90,000.

I wonder how far that $20,000 would have gone in settling his debt??

vincent R Kim

Did you even read the complaint??? He is not complaining about the IRS, but a company that made false claims and stole money from him! But you're right. Everyone should pay their taxes, and hopefully it will go to fund better education so you can go back to school and learn how to read. Then you will understand that he was being taxed on money he never had. It was lost before he was going to cash out.

I am not okay with a company RIPPING ME OFF!! But it looks like you're okay with that... Hence the need for better education.

You really do not understand taxes at all. The taxes that Charles owes are not the same as the taxes that the IRS assessed. Go learn something and then come back so we can have an intelligent discussion.

Guest

...and we wonder why the country is in such debt. People will do anything to get out of paying taxes, and then when they do get to settle for less than they owe (that someone else has to pay now) they have the nuts to complain.

Took my money and did nothing in return

American tax relief claimed to help reduce the amount of tax i owed the government after they received my money they were unreachable by phone or by internet i got taken for 5,500.00. i want my money refunded but do not know how to go about getting it back.i read about the owners of a.t.r. driving fancy cars and owning 2 and 3 houses at the expense of hard working people.these kind of scammers should be locked up for a long time and should be made to reimburse the people there money back.the government supposedly shut them down but are they doing anything to help the victims get there money back

Your words: "that's a degrace to taxpayer" (I assume you meant "disgrace".

NO - what's a disgrace is you trying to get out of paying your taxes - "gee I don't feel like paying what I owe so let's just screw the next guy".

Looks like you ended up being the "next" guy. :cry

Thank you complaint boards!!!!

When I called American Tax Relief, it was a strong arm sale from the very beginning. I guy named Marc Beccia or something gave me the run down. What I owe, how much I make, my assets etc. Next question was " Would you like to write a check by phone or use a credit card? That will be $7,500". Under what circumstance would somebody hand over that amount of hard earned money after a 10 minute conversation. Well not me. I kinda laughed, and asked if that is normal protocol. He exclaimed that because they are such a big company and spend a million dollars in advertising every month, I should have a blind faith in them. Needless to say I did not hand over the money. A month later, after networking with a few friends. I was pointed to the website settlewiththeirs. info , 877 - 517 -**** . My experience with them has been as smooth as one could expect from a professional company. Ive had a great experience with a man named Owen. Helpful from Start to finish. They performed a tax investigation before quoting me on what they could do. This only made sense to me because if I don't have a clue what my situation is with the IRS, then how could I expect this company to know what they could do for me and require an upfront exorbitant amount of money to find out where I stand? Last but not least, I saved a lot more than what Power Tax Relief was going to require upfront.

I will not do business with them. The Better Business Bureau gave them the grade of an F. Research and review are always good to do before sending chuncks of money anywhere.

American Tax Relief is a 100% scam, very dishonest!

American Tax Relief simply out should all be in jail. Very deceptive in telling you what you want to here until they get your money. Paid $3250. with another $3250 taken out of my bank account without my approval after a I asked them to wait until i gave them the OK. Paul Franklin and Chris (?) are NOT to be trusted. I was exremely clear in communicating to them a they agree..take your money, then come up with other stories to substantiate why they need more money. Started at $6500 then they tried for $4500 more. If you give them your money you will be very sorry. Call a local firm in your area. I knew they ha dsome complaint but I thought it was a numbers thing. I was wrong. I also let the Pat Summeral thing influence me. I am sending him a letter also. I have Never been scammed like this, ever!! Don't believe them.

If you CANT pay your taxes, and CANT pay through monthly payments, file your own Offer in Compromise. You DONT NEED a firm or representative.

It's form 656, and its on irs.gov. You need to fill it out and the related financial statement.

It looks long and scary, but take it one step at a time and you CAN do it yourself. Once you send it in, you can talk to the IRS and ask questions and they will help you understand if you qualify, if not why not, etc.

Guest

paul franklin took 4500.00 dollars from me and i havent heard a word from him. :(

I just got through my tax nightmare! I avoided this company by doing research before deciding on someone to represent me.

The problem is they take your money before getting a clear picture on your situation with the IRS. Companies like Tax Relief Foundation conduct an investigation first. This is the only honest way to conduct business in this arena. Both you and your representation have realistic expectations.

I would recommend them to my parents. That says a lot.

Guest

I was friends with these people until I found out what they did. Forgive my elementary knowledge of our legal system, but why do they still live in their Beverly Hills house and still driving a Mercedes?

Guest

Why is it you folks can find the money to pay some rip-off artist to get you out of paying taxes, but don't seem to have the money to actual pay your taxes?? All that does is leave the rest of us to get screwed and pay your share too. :?

Guest

Will they go to jail? Sadly, I hope so.

I say sadly because my son went to preschool with their son and we were all friends for awhile.

They were very flashy with their wealth. Disgusting to flash wealth gained by stealing from desperate folks

Guest

I dealt with this company 2 years ago. I went through the same process.

Money upfront with the promise of an Offer in Comprimise. It was my fault now that I look back. The money I had paid upfront for the OIC was all I had. The failure came down to basic incompetence.

Deadlines where not met, calls not returned. Before you knew it, my offer was declined. Two years later, after saving a bit of money up, I have had a completely different experience through a company a friend had suggested. Settlewiththeirs.info .

Specifically I was told to ask for Mr. Anderson. So I did. Without a huge upfront cost, he was able to do a tax investigation and then tell me what they could do.

They saved me 80 percent of what I owed and answered my phone calls every time.

If there is any way I could thank this individual and this company I would. I thought I would start with this comment.

Guest

I called them and was given a very brisk and authoritative sales pitch over the phone....it seemed pretty good until the guy asked for my SSN AND bank account right then....Wow! RED flag..I said NO...send me a sample contract so I can read it.

They did...I just chucked it, but they keep calling and sending me letters saying I contacted THEm and I have to take action RIGHTAWAY!!

Boo Hoo to you ATR *** bags, I am the fish that got away. I feel very sorry for all other folks who really needed help and got reamed.

When hiring a tax representative, you will always get the best attention from small firms with dedicated experienced professionals. Large firms with many clients tend to neglect their customers.

This industry is filled with too many complaints against representatives.

For years I've been telling people to hire a professionally licensed CPA or law firm. For quality professional experienced help, please visit our site at www.taxproblem.org

Guest

There are a few god firms outtere. I used to work fo Nationwide tax relief in Bretwood.

They actually hve 8 Attorneys and EA's etc who do work n your cses.

I'd give them a ring. Rich Boggs - The owner is an EGOMANIAC, but he gets results and in my opinion is quite ethical.
