Verified ReviewerCustomer service failed
Called them, nice lady said it was covered and a replacement would be shipped out in 1 month because it was out of stock, a month later I asked if it was shipped and she said it was delayed and they expected it in another month, this repeated for 6 months and now they dont even answer my emails.
So to sum up worse than worthless!
- Waste your time & never do what they promised
User's recommendation: Don’t buy
6 months and it’s a lemon
I Have AMERICAN STANDARD H&A installed on August 23, had trouble with it ever since. Seems that you have to have 3 major components go out before getting anew unit replaced.
The heat and air company that I purchased from did their best trying to get it replaced. I had to follow protocol and go through consumer relations.
It took two weeks of calling and finally turn down so here we go replacing again all the parts that seem to work couple months and go out. So much for consumer being taken care of Thank you, Steven P Delarge CEOs President
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified Reviewer | Edmonton, AlbertaWorst customer service I have ever experienced
I have been fighting them on getting my 500 refund for a window unit I had to buy because my air conditioner broke down less than 5 years after I bought it. I have been on the phone with them over 20 times trying to get this resolve with no resolution.
This has been going on for several months now and I know they are hoping I just give up but I wont. They promised me that money so they are going to hold up their end of the deal. The people that work customer service just pass you along to the next person and that person never deals with the issue. They always say they will call back and never do and they wont reply to emails.
I had a case open and had notified them that I was getting my ac fixed and sent them the paid invoices and they proceeded to close my case because they said there was no activity on the case Which was completely false.
I have since opened a new case about 6 weeks ago and there hasnt been anything done after emailing them about 5 times. This is absolutely pathetic and I would never recommend this product based solely on their customer service or lack of.

Verified Reviewer | Lynn, MassachusettsI want to emphasize the importance of Energy Star Certified installers/
I got my American Standard Hvac units for my roof and condo in 2010 to replace the Carrier ones I had which were 23 years old and still working just fine. I made the change to get the tax credits and to get an Energy Star product to lower my electric bill.
At that time, there were only 6 Energy Star certified installers listed by Mass Save. Installer MUST be certified or you will run into trouble. This is VERY important. I did not choose American Standard.
My certified installer did. I have had no complaints, no issues, just a falling Electric bill, and how good is that?
When I read complaints, it always comes down to the installer not having been certified.
User's recommendation: Be sure your installer is Energy Star Certified.

Condenser fan ‘’air slap’’ noise.
I have a side discharge 16 seer heat pump . The fan produces a thumping sound that sounds throughout the neighborhood.
Think of the slap a helicopter makes. Local installer and company rep says everything is working according to factory specs. Tell that to my neighbor who is ready to sue me. I told her if she wants to sue anyone she should go after American Standard.
Sadly, I would not recommend this unit.
Dont believe the adds you might see for them. One of them mentions how quiet it is and your neighbors will be soooooo happy.
- Lity
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
User's recommendation: I wouldn’t buy again.
Noisy unit
Had a 4 ton heat pump installed recently. It's the newer side discharge unit.
I have it on my covered patio with discharge away from the patio. Well, I'm happy with the unit, but my neighbor hasn't slept in her bedroom since I've had it.
For some reason the unit resonates under the patio roof and causes an irritating hum in her room. Only about 8 feet between houses.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
User's recommendation: Would not recommend this unit.

Paid close to $7000.00 for the unit worked fine for a year then it's cost me money every year since unit is 4 years old. Parts breaking no parts available.
Just a piece of complete and utter junk.
Their customer service deny they make the unit I got the number off the manual they refuse to take accountability. Worthless company they should take American out of their name.

Verified ReviewerFalse info in parts list for YCH300B3H0GA
We ordered some parts for the evaporator fan assembly from our local dealer Duncan supply. They did a great job providing us AS data including a visual breakdown and detailed parts list.
With what we asked for they recommended we needed reference numbers 4 thru 9. In the quantity needed column it clearly shows we needed one of each of the 6 parts listed. Part number BLT00217 clearly shows that part number referencing one bolt. So we ordered one of each of the 6 parts required.
When we received our invoice from Duncan Supply it listed one of each of the parts received.
We find however that part number BLT00217 that clearly shows quantity of one on the factory parts list and Duncan invoice is actually a box of 25 bolts. So I am charged $21.67 for what should have been one bolt.
I have discussed this with Duncan and it is not their fault.
They have contacted their AS factory parts contacts and are told AS won't take the box of 25 back and too damn bad for me the customer. This isn't at all the customer service I expect from a company that I have spent tens of thousands of dollars with over 40 years.
- Poor customer service
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Consider another manufacturer as you sure can't get customer service from American Standard.

Verified ReviewerFaulty unit
the coil is the new all aluminum for r-410a
After have issues with a subsidiary product, where the product failed just after the 10-year warranty and over lots of money spent on the South unit we replaced the north unit completely. Replaced it with American Standard, only to get a 10- year warranty on that unit.
It has failed after 3 years. The company that installed it replaced a thermostat and gave the heat pump a winter charge for $250 it failed again in less than a day. After 4 service calls replacing computer boards and temp sensors they are coming out to replace the board in the air handler. He warned me that the air handler on the new unit was still one that American Std.
/ Trane used dissimilar metals, so they could use R22 and R410A. They didn't account for dissimilar metals corroding each other, causing refrigerant / oil leaks in the Air Handler. Six Thousand dollars spent on a unit that failed prematurely, and probably will fail just about the time the warranty runs out in 10 years. Fool me once, I will never buy another Trane / American Standard Product again.
"Its hard to Stop a Trane, its even harder to keep one going!"
Update, Jan 17 2021 there was a micro leak in this unit, the want to isolate the line set in spring to see if it that, or under the 10 year warranty for the new AH and Heatpump they put the new an improved super seal in in and so far it is working. crazy thing is this line set is only 10 years old when the house was expanded it was replace when all the hvac was moved on this side.
Preferred solution: I am waiting to see if this last board replacement works if it fails then maybe it is time to invoke a lawsuit with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
User's recommendation: Make sure your coils are manufactured for the new Freon only.
Not happy with my supposedly superior system
I got a new American standard heat pump and handler in 2016. My townhouse only uses electricity.
My bills are twice as much as adjoining neighbors. My system runs every 5 minutes on auxiliary heat. And I keep my temperature down to 62 degrees. Im cold.
I have 2 heating companies come out and no one can figure out why I think my system is a lemon. What can I do ?
Preferred solution: Someone that had knowledge of system to look at it
I looked here because I am buying a new central unit.
So far Bryant & American Standard & the other names that they sell are out.
Honeywell Wiring Design Flaw
American Standard did reach out to me and started the problem was with Honeywell not them.
I've had 2 service calls on my 5 ton American Standard AC unit for exactly the same problem. The unit is 6 years old that quits when an internal wire connection of the Honeywell Zone Board vibrates loose from a spring-loaded connection.
The Honeywell Zone Board is attached to the Am. Standard Air Handler and has a protective cover (on the board) so that nothing can disrupt the function. There is absolutely no reason I should be worried about a wire coming loose and shutting-down the system.
I live in Florida and when your AC quits in summer heat and humidity you have the possibility of damage. in my case all my wood floors warped because we were away for more than a week.
Have tried, to no avail, to contact engineering at Am.
Standard Air to explain the problem but unless I'm a technician they refuse to discuss it. BTW; the installer refuses to handle the problem beyond a $94 service call, each time, to reconnect the wire in the Zone Board.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
