Verified ReviewerI am unable to take that package. I fell on hard times if there’s anyway that I could get a refund or just half of what I paid, I would appreciate it greatly
I received a call from Orlando, Florida about my vacation package. I would love to have the number to call back.

Verified ReviewerCompletely dishonest!
Our microwave wasn't working when we took possession of the RV but it wasn't noticed until the door flew open when we were down the road. The fridge doors also kept flying open, the shower nozzle was broken, the windshield wipers weren't working.
The office manager kept insisting that the previous renters didn't experience any of those problems but when we returned the RV one of the techs (her husband ironically) casually mentioned that he knew about all of those issues and that the previous renters had indeed pointed out the microwave, fridge, and shower issues. The steps stopped working and needed a new motor. They did get an RV repair person to fix it but only after we were without the use of them for 5 days. The handle on one of the cabinets broke off and the folding shelf next to the kitchen broke off its hinges.
There was a piece of wood on the floor of the bedroom area and turned out it was from a piece on the side of the bed. Plus we were not fully informed on how to use the RV like the water heater pump.

Equipment wasn't working properly when I showed up for pick up.
Two choices either you delay your vacation and reschedule or you wait 4 hours, only for them to offer temporary fixes.
They seem to think that what equipment you think is broke is not essential equipment in their opinion.
Don't choose to pick up right before closing time you will get no help if there is problem.
When you're on the road good luck getting any reasonable support.
You are pretty much on your own., any repairs you decide to make are out of your pocket unless you get it in writing.
Watch out when you return your rental. One of the tactics they use to keep your deposit: The porter will add damage notes after you sign the completed check in form.
Just Count on loosing your deposit no matter what.
@ American dream vacations, Don't bother to respond with more BS answers, Not interested in dealing with anyone from American Dream Vacations of Houston ever again.
I will be advising everyone that asked me about my RV rental to avoid this business.
American Dream Vacations is dishonest
This company continually posts RV's for sale by owner on Craigslist. I have seen their posts for several months in a row.
Why would an company purposely post continually "by owner"? And of course claim to be an upstanding company. They are trying to save a dime by posting as owner because it costs to post by dealer. If they are dishonest posting on Craigslist, where else are they dishonest?
I'm sure that as long as they can remain under the radar they well.
But you as a consumer should get as much information as you can before making a decision. You decide, I did and I refuse to do business with a company that is blatantly dishonest.
Vacation Ruined
Rv not ready after jerking me around for 4 hours wish I would have found these reviews before hand
RV swapped for smaller one at pickup, NO after hours support
2 stars only because the maintenance crew was extremely helpful. They did an excellent job of noting any issues upon pickup and return.
My entire deposit was refunded. They went above and beyond by helping start the car we left on site when the battery was dead. The rest of the team gets a zero. We got a text the day before saying the return was coming in that morning and the prep meant a late pickup for us - I was happy for the heads up.
On arrival, we were told the RV we reserved wasn't expected until the next day. We were offered a smaller one (sleep 8 vs 10 with fewer amenities like outdoor entertainment...) at same price. At this point, we had driven for 2 days to get there, or flown and had little choice. Still, not too bad.
At the Homeland Security checkpoint between Texas and NM, we were stopped and detained for 3+ hours on Saturday night because the RV had been reported stolen earlier in the year. We could have been released much earlier, BUT the "Emergency" Contact info in the folder is only available during normal working hours 5 days a week. The voicemail and email addresses we were given were not answered until monday morning. The HS guys and the Texas sherriff were very nice aboout it, but it meant driving to our next destination and crashing rather than enjoying the evening as we had planned.
No explanation was offered upon retuning the RV other than "that's the way it is, at least is was only a few hours".
Then I had to call and remind them to refund my deposit. The contract specifies 17 days to refund the deposit, but I had to call and remind them at day 17.
Rip-off Artists
They will do whatever they can to take your security deposit and more. The awning on our rental RV broke while we were driving. There was no negligence or carelessness on our part. We had not used the awning at all, and we stopped as soon as the breakdown occurred.
Now they want to charge us $1000 for the repair. When I said I wouldn't pay it, and want my deposit back as well, Felicia threatened me with turning it over to their legal team, which she said would cost another $400.
Seriously, stay away from these people. They have no interest in customer service. They just want the money, and as much of it as they can get.
Preferred solution: Full refund
Albuquerque Location
Renter Beware!!! I rented a camper for the weekend and got screwed!
They went through the pre trip inspection. During the inspection we noticed that the canopy did not work properly. I noted this and signed the inspection sheet. We had issues with the canopy while camping.
When I returned the camper they went through the inspection and noticed the canopy would not release so one of the workers got on top and started hammering at the release mechanism and broke it. No matter what I said it was my fault, now I'm out $300!!!
Don't rent from them! They are a RIP OFF!!!
Tried to push off very shoddy RV, and when that failed...
The Irving, Texas, location tries to pawn off shabby units if the one reserved is out of commission. Poor orientation results in problems with the rental that they then try to blame on you, and they look for every way to keep some portion of the deposit.
DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE, AND EVEN BETTER DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.
Evidence says (unprepared damages from previous rentals) they cheat the owners of the units as much as they try to cheat the customers.
They would have retained previous deposits and still send out units with tears and faults.
Shabby business.
Through negligence allowed our camper to be ruined
Do not ever participate in their rental program. They do not maintain or protect your camper.
We paid for our camper upfront and trusted them to maintain the camper per the contract. They left ours open to have the wood become water damaged on the inside, and to become absolutely filthy. They couldn't have cared any less.
They were quick to charge us for repairs, but it is obvious they didn't do what they said they were doing and the camper was not maintained to even minimal standards. Don't believe them and do not allow them to destroy your camper.
Family of 9 left stranded in broken down rented RV
Continued refusal by ADV to provide compensation at all beyond the 3 days of non-use, unused mileage charge, and reimbursement for the new tire we had to purchase. Yes, they have met the strict contractual obligation.
But it cost us a lot of money to get our family home without the motorhome so as not to jeopardize our jobs and meet other obligations. We have rented previously with Cruise America--much better experience than American Dream Vacations, which became a nightmare for our family.
We are now working with BBB but they are still refusing to offer any good will compensation. We do not expect that to change.
We rented a Class A Motor Home from American Dream Vacations in Houston, TX for a family memorial svc & reunion in South Dakota. Our party consisted of 4 adults, one pregnant, and 5 children.
Despite its supposed low miles the unit was rough on the inside and right at the start a damaged outside storage door kept flying open so we had to stop and permanently screw it shut. The A/C worked intermittently, and by the time we got to the Black Hills we had a bad tire that we had to replace. (They did reimburse us for that.) We were willing to deal with all that. But then it broke down on the evening of July 4, 2012 in North Platte, NE as we were heading home.
When we called the 24 hr service number the dispatcher stated: "I'm in MA, there's nothing I can do for you from here." That was telling. We secured 2 inexpensive hotel rooms and the next morning began our search for a repair shop. Some were closed for a long holiday weekend and all but one couldn't even look at it until Monday. We were due back at work on Monday!
Finally Mid-America Diesel came through & said they could look at it. We called American Dream Vacations & advised them of the situation & that afternoon they have Mid-America authorization to work on the unit. They determined that he fan clutch housing had fallen, causing loss of fan & overheating. 2 bolts were missing 1 bolt was sheared off & it appeared to them some prior work was questionable.
They would at least the next day to repair. We extended our hotel stay. The slide-outs were problematic as well, which slowed down the repairs. Sympathetic to our plight they worked on it until 8:00 pm Friday night, but still needed more time.
They are normally closed on Sat, but generously came back in to continue working on it and get us on the road. Of course, all the food in the refrigerator of the unit had to be tossed,& we were stuck eating fast food & in restaurants--9 people. Not cheap. Saturday @ 11 am they took it for a final test drive & noticed a vibration, & further inspection revealed that the U-Joint/drive shaft connection was bad & unsafe to drive.
It appeared to them lack of lubrication could be the cause. Parts could not be obtained until Monday at the earliest. When we told Amer Dream Vac of this latest development, Brenda was very sympathetic. She knew we had already been stuck for 3 days and we had jobs & other commitments to get back to.
We would already be late returning to work. We were tire and exhausting our finances. Brenda told us to go ahead and rent a vehicle and a trailer to get home and American Dream Vacations "would take care of us". She said they would have a hot shot driver pick up the unit when it was ready.
North Platte has 2 car rental agencies & they were both closed. Blair at Mid-America was able to contact the owner of the Hertz agency & he came in & rented us a vehicle. One way rentals are very expensive, by the way. We secured a U-Haul trailer & emptied the motor home of all of our belongings and were finally on the road about 4:30 pm.
We still had over 1000 miles to go. We finally made it home late Monday afternoon. Aside from the stress & frustration of the situation, we missed work, our granddaughter nearly missed a mandatory cheerleading camp, we had to extend the board & keep of our dog, the financial impact was substantial. Renting an RV is not an inexpensive venture to begin with, but with 9 of us, staying in campgrounds & cooking would have saved us much money.
Having to rent a vehicle & a trailer cost $950.00, 2 hotel rooms (for 9 people, we were crunched)for 5 nights, & restaurant meals essentially doubled the cost of this trip. When we submitted our claim for compensation we were told that all we are entitled to is 3 days of non-use of the unit. We agreed that could compensate for the time stuck in North Platte, but did not begin to compensate for all of the other unplanned for expenses of an alternative return home. We left home with a reasonable expectation that we had a safe and sound RV.
We feel that our safety & that of our grandchildren was in peril, and that it is unconscionable that American "Dream" Vacations refused to compensate any of our expenses caused by their unit which was clearly in disrepair. Their agent told us they would take care of us.
Our mistake was not getting that and the specifics in writing, but we were so exasperated at that point we just trusted. So bottom line, BEWARE of American Dream Vacations-- as ours turn out to be an American NIGHTMARE vacation.
