Verified Reviewer | Tijuana, Baja CaliforniaThey pretty much assaulted me
I went to American Biodental with one missing tooth and ended up with two missing teeth as a result of their services. Their staff are disrespectful to blatantly abusive.
I have evidence their mistake was intentional.
I was seen by dentist Erika for a bridge. As a courtesy, I informed her that I understand Spanish. At the appointment to cement the bridge, she brought in a dental student and started to talk about me to him in Spanish, detailing how I had been assaulted and raped by another dentist. Understandably, this upset me, and I reminded her I speak Spanish and am a paying customer, not a free-of-charge case study in trauma.
Instead of apologizing, Erika got an attitude like I should be grateful for her disrespect. She then cemented the bridge incorrectly, causing the death of a perfectly healthy tooth, as documented later by an endodontist.
The only option I was offered was to have the front anchoring tooth extracted and a permanent, removable partial denture. As I attempted to work with the practice on this issue, they repeatedly lied to me and withheld information. When I returned for a follow-up appointment, dentist MaryCarmen was two hours late for my appointment.
I was offered a sedative, which would not have been needed had my appointment happened on time. Extraction of the tooth was performed without a treatment plan, and without my consent. Coordinator Javier entered the room and demanded I have some unnecessary IV infusion that made me sick previously. He bullied and threatened me for several few minutes.
In spite of these events, I continued to try to work with American Biodental and scheduled a meeting to negotiate a refund of the money I spent originally for the bridge.
At this meeting, Javier was intentionally psychologically abusive to me, making statements like I dont like your attitude, Dont you dare raise your voice to me, and Stop being manipulative. Eventually, he offered me half of the original price of the service for the bridge, which indicates he and his superiors know that they are responsible for the damage to me.
This amount is not sufficient to cover my damages. I ended the meeting at that time because Javier was continually abusive throughout, and it was, at this time, evident to me that American Biodental was actually invested in harassing and abusing me.

I go to American Bio Dental Center. Have been their twice in the last 3 yrs. Am going again soon. Have not seen anything to deter me.
I have gone twice to American Bio Dental Center. Have not experienced any of the 'negatives' that a few have written about.
I wonder if people are clicking on the wrong facility & posting their comments not realizing. I say that only because I have noticed many facilities in Tijuana have similar names.
Just saying.....
Rip off
I heard good things about American Bio-Dental. Having bridges and crowns that needed to be replaced, I flew into San Diego after making an appointment with the clinic. They arranged to pick me up at the Mexican border in a taxi. After 2 hours of waiting, I took a cab. They never showed up. The staff were kind and apologetic but extremely disorganized. Chaos is not something you necessarily want to see in a doctors office. After a 3 hour wait, I was escorted in to the dentists chair. I told the dental assistant that I was first supposed to have a cleaning and she said there was no record of that. The dentist finally arrived and commenced the examination. I was appalled by the lack of hygiene used in the office.
All the waiting for a cab at the border and inside the clinic to see the dentist was bad, the disorganization, also bad. The sterilisation which was clearly not part of the dentist's procedure, was outright frightening. The dental instruments went through only a rinsing process, but not the critical sterilization step. These are things that I notice due to spending endless hours with my Uncle at his dental clinic.
The dentist rinsed his instruments in the sink, dried them with a paper towel and used them again on other patients.
This was the worst waste of time and money. Learn from my terrible experience and stay far, far away

Resolved: Bad Dental Work
Refund.
If you pay their exorbitant prices and things go wrong, they will totally ignore you and never respond. Tough luck is the attitude. I went to have a molar extracted because of their previously bad crowns which allowed food to collect under them and caused rot in my tooth. I was also to have an implant done at the same time.
The dentist was a butcher. My teeth have very shallow roots and will come out easily when properly prepared which never happened. The implant was still causing pain a month later. I returned to have it removed and then learned that the hole was too large for the implant and gum tissue was growing in.
There were other issues that developed with the second dentist who removed the implant and didn't stitch my gums properly. Neyda and Alex were not interested in this and stopped responding when I raised the issue of the USD1500 I had paid and still didn't have an implant.
- Extended and unnecessary pain and their bad attitude

I posted my experience with American Biodental. Refund never received.
Dang Zeb is seriously misinformed. The dental office NOW may not be doing implants but they most definitely were doing them in 2017.
That's horrible, I would have been pissed too if a clinic took my money and refused to refund over unsatisfactory results. Is it possible they've cleaned up their act since then? It has been 4 years and some friends of mine recently went for extensive work and were very pleased.
American Bio Dental does not do implants. They are a holistic dentist office and do not believe in implants. you are writing a review for the wrong office.
Exactly. They follow the Huggins Protocol and do not perform implants. They suggest partials.
I just read a horrific review left by a woman with the title: "American Bio-Dental housed in the grand hotel". I have an appointment with them in April and need to make sure this review is not about this particular clinic.
I can send it to you via email if you'd like. Thanks in advance!
I agree 100%! I also had a very bad experience here.
It's chaos and confusion and the dentist was the worst who has ever touched my mouth! She didn't even speak English at all.
Well, If this is in fact the only dental clinic in this hotel then I'll be cancelling my appointment. So disappointing.
I concur with this review. I went here in 2017 and there was only one Yelp review at the time and it was not good.
I took a chance. It didn't go well. I wrote about my experience with a 2 star review and then all of a sudden a bunch of 5 star reviews showed up out of nowhere (gee, I wonder if they're fake.... one even called me out as a liar but I notice it's gone now that I've deleted my Yelp account because of fake reviews).
This place is an assembly line for foreigners and they sell themselves with a fancy office - NOT good work. There's about a half dozen dentists I think and they likely turn over very quickly.
