Disappointed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Ordered sod and was told between 9 and 11:00 a.m. on the day agreed upon for delivery.

Got a call to verify wanting the delivery since it may rain and the sod farm won't dig when wet. I said yes to delivery. No call on day of delivery so I call them and was told I was second on the list and the driver has not returned yet.

I had already arranged for help and by noon, no driver and no phone call. They really screwed me over...I'm 20 minutes away and they put a delivery that has taken over 3 hours before me.

Moldy Potting Soil

Purchased Dr Potting soil with aloe in it early spring and didn't use it untill the first of September only to find it all moldy.

Took it back for a new one without a receipt your out of luck even if it has Alsip Nursery on it. Checked again with a young store manager wearing over abundance of make up and showed no care on the issue.

Purchased another potting soil that I purchased earlier and it was now $2.00 cheaper than in summer Aug 8 2015.

Not happy for the support and the firm wouldn't go broke to exchange a bag of dirt. Guess they are just that...dirt.

Could care less about customer return satisfacion

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I could not find my receipt for an upsidaisy that I purchased at the end of the previous season. The size was too large for my pot so I simply wanted to exchange it for the 12 in.

It had the Alsip nursury price tag on it. Disappointed, I walked to the section for the product to get the size i needed only to find that there was no change in price or sku. No change in the labeling. Same old piece of plastic.

So I exlpained this to the customer service desk and they could care less. Talked to a manager who more or less told me there was absolutely no way I could do the exchange. So I told them I didn't want to buy the correct size from them. I told them they could just HAVE the one I already bought, couldn't use and would have to throw away and that I hoped they could resell it...because they were losing me as a customer and the 100s of dollars I spend each year.

Oh.. and make sure you KNOW if you are an "A list" member...

because if you say "I'm not sure" the check out girls are too lazy to look it up for you. It turns out I was one for seveal years...but will never be one ever again!!

Alsip Makes A Lot of Money Selling Puppy Mill Puppies

We bought a golden retreiver puppy 2 years ago who became ill after we brought her home. The vet Alsip paid for told us she had some kind of "virus" and put her on medications.

I became suspicious that what we thought was our $900 "quality" puppy was in fact from a puppy mill or something like that. I went back to the Alsip Nursery pet department and demanded to know where our dog came from and the name of the breeder. With great reluctance I was finally given that information. I then went home and did some research using everything I knew about our puppy (AKC papers had puppy litter registration number on it too).

An animal advocate organization was able to tell me all about her "birthplace", including the fact that it was one of worst puppy mills in the state of Iowa. At the time of the last inspection they had 96 dogs on the premises and received many fines/violations. Alsip Nursery has a reputation for selling quality merchandise in their stores, but this is one department where they are making HUGE money selling puppies who are often inbred and unhealthy.

I don't know how much longer they think they can get away with this. C'mon public, wise up and go to a shelter and save a homeless animal!

It's spreading around on Facebook about them.

Have they made any changes?

If You Care About Animals Do Not Support Alsip Nursery

If you care about animals and are socially-responsible you will not support Alsip Nursery. They buy their dogs and cats from "breeders" and by supporting their store you are perpetuating this practice. Certainly do not buy an animal from there which is perpetuating this practice first-hand. On average 10,000 homeless dogs and cats are euthanised in our country on a daily basis. If you care about animals you will get your pet at a shelter, at a place like Petco or Petsmart (which often have shelter animals for sale) or a breed-specific rescue organization.

** DO NOT BREED OR BUY FROM BREEDERS OR PUPPY MILLS WHILE THOUSDANDS OF SHELTER ANIMALS WAIT IN VAIN FOR A LOVING HOME ***. If we all become more educated as consumers and animal lovers then someday there may not be hundreds of thousands of homeless animals that desperately want and need our love and care.

Grooming dept at Alsip Nursery in Frankfort, IL

The groomer at Alsip Nursery in Frankfort, IL made several deep cuts-scratches on my dog while being groomed. All I got was an apology.

I demanded a refund, after a few calls to grooming manager Lynn they agreed on giving me store credit. I wouldn't take my dog back, unless there was a different groomer which I don't believe there is.

And was also very disappointed at the service regarding the matter.

I had been taking my dog there for a couple of years, and was very pleased with the groomer but they switched recently. Not happy.
