Here are photos of our house that is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. After 6 months of mailing in samples and Alside saying they are being tested. It was denied and “not a manufacture issue”. When I asked what could possibly cause this to happen to a house not even 10 years old they couldn’t give me an answer. When I asked to talk to a manager, they said I wasn’t able to (after sitting on hold for 20 minutes). They have been extremely difficult to deal with this entire time. However I will say when MI heard about this they were out to our house within a few days to look. MI was much easier to deal with. I would definitely not recommend using Alside for many reason.

Looks like the siding was nailed too tight. Was the siding contractor VSI certified?

Alside is a big rip off

Ordered and installed windows 6 months ago. 2 weeks after installation, windows began to leak at outside seal on windows. Contacted contractor and he reordered and reinstalled leaking windows. 2 weeks go by and same windows leaking worse. Contractor instructed us to get a lawyer, so we contacted company. The company procrastinated long enough with empty promise of monies to be returned. 1 month goes by and find out company representative we worked with walked out and assigned new representative. New representative answer, I can not give you money back and will contact contractor. Bottom line, we get one quarter of the price we paid for faulty product. Alside gets to keep their money and reputation. So, if you are unable to afford a lawyer do not use Alside.

Alside is not responsible for mistakes made by your contractor. Window warranty is void if the products are not installed properly.

I have had Alside windows with few problems for over 10 years. I had one or two window where the balancing spring failed and had them replaced without difficulty. Recently the spring went as did the guide rail clip. Alside promised to send the parts two weeks and then 4 weeks later but they are still not here almost 6 weeks later. They told me that if I were to go to the distribution center I would have to pay for parts. Quite honestly, the windows have lasted well but the lifetime warranty service would make me look elsewhere.

I'm getting the same run around, filled out the online warranty form and keep getting "awaiting customer response" reply. Did get an email claiming a rep would be getting in touch with me, HA! Still battling these clowns and will not quit till I get my windows fixed!

I am the original poster of this report. I have still not received the parts from the Alside head office and no further acknowledgement.

However, I went into the Solon office of Alside in Ohio and a young sales representative got the parts and sorted me out within minutes. What a contrast to the head office but Kudos to the Solon office.

Poor quality windows.. Do not recommend

We purchased replacements windows for all 23 windows in our home. They were attractive, well priced, and installed nicely be a local contractor. In the five years since they were installed, we have experienced s3ven seal failures. First three warrant replacements came complete. The last four have been the glass only as they have discontinued the window model they sold me. My husband watched the video they attached on how to remove the defective pane and install the new one. Very difficult and time consuming. I tell everyone I know to stay away from these windows.

My experience has been awful - poor quality product and the company does not stand by their product

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
In June of this year we went to Alside's showroom and purchased over 20 windows for our home. We figured if we ordered them at the same time they would be from the same lot, same finish. They never called us to tell us the windows were in, we had to call them. Their associates gave us attitude and told us they sent us an e-mail (they didn't even have our e-mail address). The windows were supposed to be delivered on June 19, 2018 after noon time but the windows were delivered 2 ½ hours earlier and no one was available to inspect, sign or accept them. Once we started opening the windows we saw numerous defects with the windows including: - Mitres on the sashes/jams were overloaded with excess weld material and then touched up with the wrong color magic marker/putty at the factory and left as finished (not acceptable) - Interior finish of the windows have lumpy mitres/no profile - Goops of white weld material on the corner of the jams - The interior woodgrain laminate finish on the windows was done poorly leaving white spots on mitres and finger pulls with a solid white color when they should’ve been woodgrain color - There were numerous scratches, indents and broken screw covers - Putty was over touched-up onto the finish and glass On June 20, 2018, we reached out to Alside to state that we were “rejecting” the order based on quality, not based on the size or window choice/color but based on the fact that these windows did not meet the quality standard that was specified in their brochures, website or sample windows displayed in their showroom. On June 25, 2018, their Alside Sales Manager came to inspect the windows and offered us two markers to fill-in the holes/scratches/cracks that he said occurred during shipping. He told me to stand back 6 feet to look at my windows so that I would not see the imperfections in the windows. Some of the issues with the windows happened during shipping but there were other issues with the windows with manufacturing. He told us he could send us replacement parts or have someone from their team come and fix the windows. There was never an offer to replace the windows or give us a full refund. I didn’t buy used windows, I bought/want new windows that should not need replacement parts or need repairs prior to installation. My contractor did not want to install these windows due to the numerous defects so we contacted three other contractors who also concurred that the windows should be rejected/returned due to their poor quality. Alside has an ISO-9001 Certification (Quality Certification) and the first statement in their brochure states “MEZZO WINDOWS…. QUALITY AT ITS BEST. This is what they consider quality at its best? The Alside brochure also states “Our more than 65 years of industry excellence stands strong as our legacy of leadership and trust, where customer happiness always comes first. This customer is NOT HAPPY at all. Alside is expected to provide a quality product and if it does not meet that quality standard then the customer should get a full refund. Alside should stand by their products. On June 29, 2018 Alside sent an e-mail stating that they were not accepting the return of our windows but instead offered us a $500.00 credit for our inconvenience – this is not acceptable. A consumer should not have to pay for a poor quality product. Referring to Section 3 of AMI’s Standard Terms and Conditions (Inspection, Risk of Loss and Destruction of Goods) which states: Products shall be subject to inspection and acceptance or rejection by Customer after delivery, notwithstanding prior payment. Customer shall have a reasonable time after receipt of Products to inspect them for conformity hereto. Customer may charge Supplier the expense of unpacking, examining, repacking, storing and reshipping any Products found defective or not in conformity with these or any Purchase Order. In addition to any other rights under these Terms or any Purchase Order including, without limitation, any right to damages, Customer may require Supplier to replace any item which Customer is entitled to reject hereunder or grant a full refund or credit to Customer in lieu thereof. Supplier assumes all risk of loss until receipt by Customer. Title to the Products shall pass to customer upon receipt and approval by it of the Products at the designated destination. I agree that when we signed the quote we had reviewed the order and certified that it was correct. The order we received was correct in regards to the amount of windows and their correct sizes and color however it was not the quality we expected to receive. Quality Policy Statement from Alside’s website: Associated Materials will be OBSESSED with QUALITY in everything we do through RELENTLESS IMPROVEMENT and HIGH STANDARDS that EXCEED CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS. These windows do not meet my expectations! If the windows were the same quality/finish as displayed in their showroom I would have been completely happy and they would already be installed in my home. I want a full refund which I am entitled to as per Section 3 of AMI’s Standard Terms and Conditions. I tried to dispute this with my credit card company but Alside would not do a chargeback. Then a few weeks ago we received an e-mail from their CEO asking us to fill out a survey because they want to improve their quality - unfortunately they gave us one day to do the survey and we were on vacation. Now I'm going to file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency in my state, "follow" them on all of their sites and I'm also going to send a letter to their CEO personally. I'm also looking to take them to court. Do not buy windows from this company! Run! Buy from any other company.

As it is stated on the Alside official website, the windows, siding and accessories get lifetime limited transferable warranty. The company allows customers to file a claim and review the status of warranty claims online on Alside.com.

According to the Alside Lifetime Limited Warranty file, the company may elect to refund the original purchase price for only the defective materials. You may continue contacting the Alside representatives as well as the company top management to try to solve the issue with poor quality product.

I have been selling Alside windows, patios doors, seamless gutters, and vinyl siding since 2014. Our company uses the ISS service provided by Alside for installation.

We have not had any serious issues with any installed products, and warranty claims are taken care of in a timely manner. Alside manufacturers over 3 million windows per year. Our company is very satisfied with the products and service we have received. We have plenty of 5 star Google reviews from our customers.

I would have dropped Alside if we experienced any of the issues described here. Simonton and Polaris windows have no service department at all to speak of.

Alside does mention there is a service charge for in home service after one year. Read the warranty it is in there.

"warranty claims are taken care of in a timely manner." Obviously this is not the case. I am seeing this all over the Internet that people can't get issues taken care of in a timely manner.

I am in the process of deciding on what windows to use for my home. The Alside quote is the cheapest.

Double Hung window seal/gas broke and need to be replaced. After a LONG period of time and numerous calls I received the replacement sash. Had to pay for shipping to my home, Then called customer service to have sash installed and was told then to find someone locally as that is not part of their responsibility. At this time I am unable to find anyone to installed the bottom sash for my double hung window. Wow LIFE TIME WARRANTY is nothing without installation of the part.

I had windows installed that came from Alside windows and the imperfection were very obvious on several windows. the installation was adequate but the windows themselves were poorly built, so I called Alside and talked to Jennifer in customer service and she most get a lot of phone calls because she sounded disgusted as soon as she answered the phone ( on 8/14/19) and it got worse from there, She is quite rude to be in customer service!! Alside Windows will not honor Warranty
Alside Windows will not honor Warranty - Image 2

Update to December 2018 review. No word from Alside. In December I resent all the paperwork previously sent and I sent pictures (see pictures). I have done all I can but Alside Windows is still not helping.

I first contacted them last July and they have been dragging their feet. They wanted "product verification" and I resent proof of purchase, pictures, contractor info - all the info that is stated in the Warranty as being needed for a claim. Then they wanted serial numbers but it seems I would have to take my window out of the wall and hope I can find a serial number. Serial numbers are not mentioned in the Warranty by the way.

All I want is a replacement so I can see out the window.

Do not buy Alside Windows! Find a window company that actually honors their Warranty.

If you are having issues with Alside windows you should work with your installer. They have a relationship with them and they should be happy to help.

Frankly, since it failed to quickly, I bet the installer broke the seal installing it.

I'm guessing you hired "chuck in a truck." Sometimes you get what you pay for. Sorry, I work for a reputable installer and in the rare cases we've had an Alside warranty request, they take days, not months.

Broken Seal

Alside Window - Broken Seal - Image 4

I bought a set of Alside windows from a building supply closeout place about 12 years ago. The window frames, sashes and parts have worked fine.

My only problem are the seals on the thermal pane glass. I replaced 2 of the sashes about 5 years ago and they went bad again. I’ve also had 3 of the glass panes crack for no apparent reason. These windows were set in wood frames with nailing flanges for 6” thick walls for new construction which I believe was from the factory.

I’m a remodeling contractor and have been in the business for 40 years. I’ve installed a lot of replacement and new construction windows through the years and have never seen this many bad seals. I have a total of 31 window sashes from these Alside windows. Right know I have 16 that need replaced plus the 2 I already replaced.

I did talk to a local distributor and they offered to give me the new sashes for half price but I’m going to buy the thermal panes from my local glass company and install them into the existing frames just to avoid another issue. I’m only posting this to let others know I would not recommend Alside windows. The pic of the transom window just shattered the other night while my wife and I were sleeping. No idea what would cause that.

There are no signs of the pane binding up in the frame and no sign of anything hitting it. I also added a pic of another one that shattered. I just assumed something hit it but it is in a cupolas three stories up facing another roof.

After finding this site and reading all the bad reviews I’m surprise Alside is still in business. Their siding products, which I use, must be carrying them.

Why would you buy closeout windows, possibly discontinued, not properly handled moving from supplier to supplier and then complain?
